Hello, this month was my first IVF, started with Estrace on CD 21 in March once ovulation was confirmed. Once AF showed then I started stims on CD 2. Menopur 225, Puregon 225 and Saizen 1ml.
However, I was a poor responder, on my first blood work day I got called to go back first thing the next day because my E2 levels were very low (254). At that next appointment my E2 levels did rise but still were low for the amount of medication I was on. The ultrasound at that time showed only 2 growing follicles on one ovary that were a good size and the other ovary had 3 that were smaller and not doing much. I went back again in two days and my ultrasound showed only 1 follicle at 19mm and the other we thought was a follicle was a cyst. The other follicles did not do anything. So I did the HCG trigger shot to try and get that one juicy follicle and came in the next day to do the IUI. Unfortunately this cycle was a BFN and AF is here.
My brief medical background:
- I have endometriosis, a 5cm chocolate cyst on my left ovary. It grew bigger I noticed while we were doing the ultrasounds.
- I did go to the endo specialist here and said I was stage 3, but did not recommend lap because if I was doing IVF they wanted to preserve the good ovary issue. (If they remove it they might remove some of the good tissue).
- Note: The one ovary that grew that one follicle? Was the one with the cyst. Very odd.
- CD 3 blood work has come back normal. Only thing ever unusual for blood work was high DHEA and kind of low testosterone. (Doctor isn't concerned).
- I have DOR, My levels were 1.45 so at the time I was 32 and my eggs were of a 34/35 year old.
- However last time my doctor did a follicle count she found 14.. and this time during IVF was 5 that appeared? It was very strange and unusual.
- HSG that was done a year ago was clear and normal. (I am going again next week to redo the test).
- I ovulate a bit later than normal (16-18) but do and have regular cycles of around 30-32 days in length. Originally my luteal phase was short but it has gotten better over time thankfully. I did clomid twice for the IUIs and found it didn't do anything. I did femara for the last IUI and found that helped and made me ovulate early.
- Hubby has a high sperm count, good motility but just low morphology (3%) but the doctor's have never been concerned with it.
- I have been all kinds of supplements and vitamins from my doctor and naturopath to do with fertility and endo (anti inflammatory), and did acupuncture leading up and during IVF. I did eat healthier during IVF and limit dairy and grains. (During stims was on strict diet/exercise regiment).
- We have been trying for almost 2 years and during that time I have never had a BFP. (Not a chemical/miscarriage etc..) I have done 3 IUI's prior to this IVF so now 4.
I have a meeting with my doctor in a few weeks to discuss what to do next. Has anyone have been a similar situation? Anyone with endo that did a specific protocol for IVF that worked? Did you do lap before IVF? Or any other testing I should look at?
