We live in Alberta and Are hoping to start our third IVF. A little back ground info.. We have had no coverage or financial help with our first two IVF's, our first Ivf we had 3 embryos that made it to day 3 only 2 made the thaw..sadly there was no pregnancy..our second Ivf we had only 1 embryo that made it to day 5 and that ended in an ectopic pregnancy which is so devastating knowing that if it had implanted in the right place our dream may have came true..and I'm having a really hard time dealing with it and the only thing keeping me sane is hoping that we can find a way to get some financial help with a 3rd and final IVF.. our benefits through my husbands company clearly states they will not help with infertility.

I have done so much reading and can't seem to find anything...Is there ANY type of financial help gov grant any type of loop hole that someone can please point me in a direction to make this happen for us again? Please...any ideas would help as we have cleaned out all savings and dug ourselves into debt because we want this so much.. thank you for any info

There are some jobs that do have group benefits that cover fertility treatments, though they are rare. If you could find out where they are and get a job there, that is onexactly idea though kind of obscure.

Another idea - I believe there is a new clinic in Calgary offering a low cost IVF procedure.

Also, have you been claiming the expenses for your procedures either your taxes? You should be able to get a little bit back that way though not much...

I understand, I've been in the same boat :(

I'm sorry that you have had to deal with this pain it is so horrible..

Yes We have been claiming procedures through taxes but there isn't really much of a return on it..

Not sure if it's an option for you, but we withdrew rrsps to pay for our third and last ivf.....not ideal but we had nowhere else to go....

I was really lucky our existing insurance covered 100% of our meds. But I do know it is hard to get it after already having procedures done as they would count it as a pre-existing condition so you wouldn't be covered. I don't understand how a sex change can be covered but not fertility treatments I think it is so unfair.

We wanted to do IVF and due to the economy and no jobs and bad finances we can't do ivf again. There isn't anything in Alberta to help people pay for ivf. Unfortunately, infertility isn't covered in Alberta.

If you are a patient at the RFP (in Calgary) there is a fund that you can apply for assistance through: http://www.generationsofhope.ca/ I'm sorry you're in this difficult position. :( All the best.

I am curious how this worked for you? How long did it take to get prescriptions..was it a generic brand they sent or was it the actual brand name?

I ordered from there as well (multiple times). Customer service was great, shipping was good and I saved a LOT of money. Dont forget too that if using a pen form of medication there is typically additional in the vial so factoring that into the calculation can sometimes save a small amount too

Thanks a lot! I am going to look into this soon. How far in advance did you have to make your orders?

Has anyone recently used the gonal-F multidose VIAL? It differs from the pen in that it has to be mixed like menopur. I am trying to find out if the 450IU vial box still says that the medication supplied is actually 600IU.

I ordered from them multiple times and it always went smoothly, but the last time was 6 yrs. ago. It always arrived eithin the time periods stated on the website. The only thing that stressed me out was that if its extreme weather like very cold winter or hot summer, and youre not home to get the order, then it goes to a warehoise which im not sure is heated or air conditioned. So i used to try to pick it up asap but it always worked out fine. I didnt get PG but i did respond to the meds as expected. They were generics per the brands stated on their website and my doc thought it was fine. I forgot the shipping charge but i believe it was about $100 for the accelerated option but i literally saved thousands compared to my first cycle where i bpught the same meds in Canada.
