I am at a predicament, we cannot decide if we should transfer 1 or 2 of our CCS tested embryos. We have had three failed transfers and after our last miscarriage we had the CCS testing on 8 of our remaining frozen embryos. Seven out of 8 came back normal- one having it's DNA degraded so it is inconclusive. When I was speaking with my nurse I mentioned the possibility of transferring two embryos for my next FET and she shot it down saying it is something they do not do...(transferring two CCS normal embryos) and the only reason we transferred two on my last FET is because the chromosonal makeup was unknown. I have since reached out to my RE and he said it is not something they do often but is not completely opposed to it knowing our history.

My husband and I are not sure what we should do? Our protocol IS changing with this FET, we will be trying the IM shots instead of the endometrium.

I have a feeling that because 7/8 came back normal with CCS - then its a possibility the ones we transferred previously were normal as well and they haven't worked. Do we lessen our chance and transfer 1 along with our new protocol or transfer two and see what happens? I know there are risks associated with multiples and the risk of losing one or two would be heartbreaking- I just don't want to make the wrong decision. It would be so much easier if these transfers weren't a financial burden then it would make much more sense to go the conservative route.

Does anyone have any experience transferring 2 CCS embryos at Olive? Or another clinic? I would love to know your results.

Hi there,

I transferred 2 CCS embryos last year. It was our 3rd IVF cycle - the first resulted in a m/c of 2 chromosomally normal babies at 7 weeks, and the 2nd was just a BFN. we transderred two (untested) embryos eacg time. After doing the genetic testing on our remaining embryos, we decided to transfer two. This was because our RE felt that there was something more than PCOS preventing pregnancy ( a possible implantation disorder?). We also did intrallipids, prednisone, heparin and baby aspirin. We were successful, both embryos took and delivered boy/girl twins last year!

I'm not sure I would have made the same choice in retrospect, but at the time I was so exhausted from infertility treatments I just wanted to do everything we could. Our pregnancy went really well and we delivered our twins at 37 weeks! Was it tough? Yes. Is having newborn twins crazy and exhausting? Yes. But I don't think you could have convinced me out of transferring two at the time. And our twins are super awesome and healthy so that's all that matters in the end.

Anyways - I hope this is somewhat helpful. It's a tough choice! Let me know if you have any other questions and I'd be happy to share. Take care and best of luck!!

Thank you Krista3216 for your response, I really appreciate it. I am thinking the same as you and am having a hard time justifying transferring just the one but at the same time I don't want to make the wrong decision. It is so so stressful but I thank you for your insight. My RE made it seem that transferring 2 ccs tested embies at Olive has never been done before so I am glad to hear that it has and that everything went smoothly for you.

Hi Krista 3216, I'm with Olive too and I recently did a freeze all IVF cycle, I did my first FET and it was a BFN.  Three years ago I did a IUI to IVF cycle and it also failed.  I am gearing up for another FET, but I want to see if things can be different this time.  I lots of frozen embryos, but it costs so much to transfer one (on top of the thousands already paid for IVF) I am talking to my RE about possible implantation problems, were you officially diagnosed with anything? My RE is talking about doing a biopsy of my lining using a procedure called ERA.  I also see you RE had you one ntrallipids, prednisone, heparin and baby aspirin, can you explain how that came about?

Sorry for the questions, but I really appreciate any guidance you have.  I'm feeling a bit lost.

Hi there,
No, I don't have an official diagnosis of any implantation disorder - from what I understand it's actually hard to get that diagnosed. It seems like they treat thsee types of things more speculatively. I was given intrallipids, aspirin etc because after my first round of IVF I miscarried two chromosomally normal embryos (at around 7 weeks). This was considered worrisome as the loss was likely due to some kind of implantation failure. We tried again, but the cycle failed and I never got pregnant. After that we did CCS on our remaining frozen embryos and transferred two normal ones. We were successful and now have 1 year old twins! I should note that no one at Olive told me to transfer two - rather I was given the option based on my past history and my husband and I made the final decision. I hope this helps...

Krista3216 can I ask if you did anything different for your successful cycle?

I guess the only thing we did differently that cycle was transfer 2 embryos that were CCS tested. Our other 2 cycles we transferred 2 as well, but they were untested. I had added all the "extra" stuff (heparin, baby aspirin, intrallipids and prednisone) on my second cycle. I also did acupuncture before and after our transfer, but we did that for every cycle.
