I am 9 more sleeps from my frozen embryo transfer.  Trying to keep calm, stay healthy and live in the moment instead of thinking thinking thinking.

But my husband just sent me an e-mail and said "you've been working so hard all week to prepare nice healthy suppers for us, why don't I pick up a pizza on the way home".  At first I thought YES.  I LOVE pizza.  But then my mind started thinking, "oh.. I'm getting close to my transfer.. I'm trying to eat healthy". I also very foolishly googled before things that can effect IVF and I read that excess Gluten can be bad.  so then I think, "I'm transferring in 9 days.. I shouldn't eat gluten. what if this pizza effects my body in some way".  Sounds silly right? I type it and I know it but I'm still paranoid.
Am I silly and I should just say "YES. get the pizza".  or is there really something to cutting out gluten/carbs, and sugars before transfers?

Honestly how can gluten be bad for you. Wouldn't Italians (and many other cultures) go extinct?

Gluten is felt by some to be inflammatory and immune stimulating. There's no real truth to it unless you have the autoimmune condition. That said, overly processed and chemically laden foods likely do have a cumulative negative effect over our lifespan. I just read ingredient labels and make sure I can pronounce everything...

IVF #1: March 2016: Long protocol: Suprefact (200)/Menopur (225)

9 follicles => 4 eggs => 3 mature => 3 fertilized (ICSI) => 2 blasts (one transferred, one frozen)

BFN

IVF #2: June 2016: Microdose flare: Suprefact (40 BID)/Menopur (150)/ Gonal (300)

7-10 follicles (?) => 12 mature eggs => only 4 fertilized w/ICSI => transferred 2 @ 3days and 1 blast frozen

BFP: day 14 beta = 93, day 18 beta 557 (37h doubling time)

Eat the pizza!!!  I understand eating healthy is better but plenty of totally unhealthy people have children all the time.   If you eat well, for the most part, you deserve to splurge now and then and eat something you love.  :)

You should also join our Sept. FET group :)

I wouldn't worry unless you're allergic to gluten!

If you are worried about inflammation, maybe take fish oil supplements leading up to transfer?  Fish and Omegas are great to reduce inflammation.

I ate pasta and pita bread before my transfer in Greece.  I wasn't thinking and drank a diet coke the day of transfer.  (was avoiding caffeine to get lots of blood flow to the uterus.)  Transfer still worked!

Stress also causes bodily inflammation.  Don't stress -- Enjoy the pizza & good luck with transfer!!!  :)

Best of luck with your upcoming transfer!!!

I will share the advice of the very wise member here named Mouse. She often says that we should take the path of least regret.
You may get a lot of enjoyment from the pizza, and the transfer is 9 days away, but if the worry about the pizza will cause you distress and regret, you may want to consider something else, or a compromise.

Fewer slices? Some pizzarias offer gluten free option. A different reward for your hard work?

All the best and enjoy whichever option you decide to exercise.

I had the same thoughts before my transfer and was worried about the gluten I was eating too especially since I'm gluten intolerant. However I just allowed myself to relax over the little details and here I am 6 weeks pregnant from our first FET. If you eat mostly healthy then having a little naughty treat is not going to harm you. The stress of micro managing your diet is likely worse for you! Enjoy the pizza! One thing I did was drink POM juice and avocado everyday in a smoothie! I read that avocados increases success! Good luck!

One the day of my embryo transfer my doctor asked what would I eat after lunch and I said and he said it is completely fine. Check more here on my journey about implantation http://www.theaverag...plantation.html

Lol. You could make an immune theory argument for that. Mcdonalds is so toxic and inflammation inducing it distracts your system from the embryo....

The only transfer I had that stuck for a while was after I had McDonald's on retrieval day.

I also had McDonald's on retrieval day lol and maybe on transfer day too.  I swear I don't eat McDonalds that often lol
