Hi There,

I am wondering if anyone has had a recent egg retrieval at Mt.Sinai? I am really scared for this portion of the cycle, as I read a few threads down that some people had a very negative experience. The nurse has assured me that I will not feel pain. Any insights?

Hi there. My experience wasn't recent but what I can tell you is this. Breath deeply hold someone's hand and visualize each egg as a step closer to getting your babe. I don't remember it being really uncomfortable. It will be ok. Good luck! Mt Sinai is the best and the docs and nurses will support you

I didn't cycle at Mt. Sinai but I really didn't feel much.  THey gave me something to relax me as well as pain killers in IV so I was kind of out of it.  It was a little uncomfortable at times but I never felt pain. I hope that your experience isn't as bad as you are expecting it to be!  Good luck on your cycle!

I felt some sharp pain. But I was doped up enough that it didn't actually hurt (or I guess I didn't care). Mostly it was pressure and a lot of the same sensations as the ultrasounds. It was over fast and not bad enough that I'm scared to do it again. Unpleasant but totally manageable. (I'm not at Sinai though).

I'm 41 with endo

IVF #1: March 2016: Long protocol: Suprefact (200)/Menopur (225)

9 follicles => 4 eggs => 3 mature => 3 fertilized (ICSI) => 2 blasts (one transferred, one frozen)

BFN

IVF #2: June 2016: Microdose flare: Suprefact (40 BID)/Menopur (150)/ Gonal (300)

7-10 follicles (?) => 12 mature eggs => only 4 fertilized w/ICSI => transferred 2 @ 3days and 1 blast frozen

BFP: day 14 beta = 93, day 18 beta 557 (37h doubling time)

.... it stuck and we welcomed our boy March 2017!

I was terrified the first time. Now I know what to expect. I do remember it, but it felt like I was ridiculously drunk. I remember saying it hurt and then geting more drugs and then pretty much sleeping after that. My boyfriend got to watch all the follicles getting sucked dry, but i was too dopey for my eyes to focus.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't call it super-easy, but it was ok. I'm much less anxious now that I'm doing cycle #2. Once I was home, I felt totally fine.

You'll be ok!

You will have a nurse right by your side monitoring you the whole time. If you need more drugs, just ask and they'll push some for you right away.
I've had two retrievals at mount Sinai and no problem. And the second one was 22 eggs, so it took a good while!
Good luck!!!
Get some junk food and some Gatorade ready for after the retrieval and just relax and rest all day.

I had my egg retrieval today. It was not super easy & yes I felt some pain. But it was nothing near to what some people described it like. They give you a good dose of pain medication & the most fun part is it will be over even before you realize that it hurts. I'm so happy that it's over now. We have 14 eggs retrieved! I hope the rest of the process also goes well. Good luck ladies!:)

I wanted to update that I had my egg retrival this week as well and it was fine. Painful at some points but nothing unbearable. I feel silly for being so worked up about it now!!!!! Also, I should mention, the staff, all the nurses and the doctor were so lovely with me and made me feel so comfortable. I couldn't have asked for a better team.

Thats great LC285! I wish you all the best. May I know about your latest? The embriologist from the clinic called me yesterday that 11 out of 14 eggs of mine were fertilized, eagerly waiting for today's status report.

Well we collected 32 eggs but 13 were mature, 9 were fertilized. I just got my day 3 call that all 9 are dividing perfectly.
