Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone knows what the approximate wait time is currently at OFC for FET's? I just had a fresh transfer on March 12th 2016 that ended in a chemical so, needless to say, I'm looking forward to trying again. I do have a follow up appointment on April 19th, but, just wondering if anyone can let me know before then?

Hi H&P,

I had a "freeze-all" cycle in January. I got my period following that cycle on February 9th, and started provera to induce another period to start my FET cycle February 26. I am transferring tomorrow.

I think when they give you the wait time, they're talking about when you can actually transfer and not when you start the cycle. If you're doing a medicated FET the time between starting provera (if required) and the transfer is about 6 weeks. So long!

All this to say, I was told the wait time would be a couple of months, but they were talking about the transfer, not to start the cycle.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Freeze is $500.00 unless you signed before January 1st 2016. I believe that funding should be covered for FET if you have had an IVF cycle that failed, they should cover FET cycles until you run out of embryos or get pregnant (you just pay for medications). I read this on http://www.health.go...c/programs/ivf/

  What the program covers

One in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle per eligible patient per lifetime, including:

  • The one-at-a-time transfer of all viable embryos to allow for the possibility of multiple chances for pregnancy
  • One additional funded IVF cycle, if acting as a surrogate. This can occur either before or after receiving a funded IVF cycle for the purpose of building your own family

Now, I'm not 100% sure...I could be misunderstanding and of course, sometimes there's more to it. I'll be speaking with my doctor soon to confirm this.

It's whatever the cost before they raised the price that you would pay. So, we signed in October and paid the $300.00. If you signed consent anytime after January 2016 you would have to pay the new price (or so, I think that's how it works) which is the $500.00 for the year.

If you are doing a funded cycle for FET, at OFC, the wait is 9-12 months.  If it is not funded, it is around 6-8 weeks after you sign consent.  If you need testing first, the testing plus follow-up takes 1-2 months and then you would sign the consent and then the wait starts.  I am signing consents on monday :)

I curious about this 9-12 month wait for FET because today we had to do a freeze all and they said we could do a transfer in 2-3 months.

If it was a funded cycle, I think fets can be done right after. If you have embryos from a non funded cycle and want to use the embryos as a funded cycle, the wait is 9-12 months. Hope that makes sense

This waiting sucks!

IT would take 5 minutes for my doctor to send the prescription for my meds to the nurses and get me on the wait list but instead I have to wait a month just to see her.

By then, who knows when they will be booking unfunded FET :-(

Have you already signed your consent?

There isn't really a wait for unfunded FET.  It is the same now as it was in 2014 when I cycled.  Once your baseline testing is done and you sign consents, you will be on your next cycle or the one after depending on how many people are booked in the week you would have transfer.  But, yes, waiting truly does suck!!!

Hi,

Yes I signed the consent because the Doctor's secretary sent it to me by email (I live in montreal) but my doctor is on vacation until Aug 1st and could only get an appt. for the end of August. Hoping for a cancellation but I doubt that will happen.

Ah, ok.  Different for me since it is unmedicated, I didn't need any kind of appointment for prescriptions.  Hope they have a cancellation so you can get your meds sooner!
