Posted 06 September 2011 - 11:14 AM

6 months trying before intervention
Me: 2.9cm Endometrioma on left ovary
Fiancee: 1-5% morphology (depending on the month)
Laparoscopy (May 2011)
RPL Testing (March 2012): All normal
HLA Testing for my fiancé, myself and donor sperm (August 2012)
2 Failed IUIs (March & April 2011)
CLINIC MFC 1st IVF (July. 2011) - TAKE 1: 18 eggs, 15 fertilized by ICSI, all arrested on day 5. Transfer CANCELLED.
CLINIC MFC 1st IVF (Aug. 2011) - TAKE 2: 10 eggs, 8 fertilized by ICSI, pushed for day 3 transfer...1 embryo transferred. BFN.
CLINIC MFC 2nd IVF (Sept. 2011) - TAKE 1: 16 follicles & 1 small cyst....I ovulated...Cycle CANCELLED.
CLINIC MRC 2nd IVF (Jan. 2012) - TAKE 2: 18 eggs, 12 mature, 12 fertilized by ICSI. 2 Blasts transfered (1 perfect & other average). BFN.
CLINIC MRC 3rd IVF (April 2012) - Intralipid & Cortisone Therapy. 20 follicles, 18 eggs, 15 mature, 18 fertilized by ICSI.
5 Blasts (2 good quality, 3 average). Embryo Testing on all 5. 2/5 are normal.
FET June 5th of the 2 good quality, CGH normal embryos. BFN.
Clinic MRC 4th IVF (March 2013)- Invested in HLA Tested Donor Sperm and using Dr Sher's Agonist-Antagonist Conversion Protocol. 14 follicles, retrieved 7, only 3 mature, but 3 fertilized (1 excellent, 2 good Day 3 embryos)
All 3 transferred on Day 3. BFP (HcG level 900)
**My Advice: When you know something is wrong, go with your gut!!! I knew we had MASSIVE sperm issues, not egg quality issues. Imagine, after tons of failed IVF cycles with my Fiancee's sperm, I get a BFP on the first try with donor sperm. Hopefully, this pregnancy will make it 'til the end. God bless.

On both esterase and progesterone. Woke up with sore right ovary this morning, not sure what that's all about.
Otherwise just taking it easy. My clinic doesn't recommend bed rest but I took it super easy for 2 days. Going to get up and at 'em today.

I took 2 wks off; was lucky my clinic gave me a doctor's note. This is my first IVF and during the 1st wk I was cramping like crazy so I was grateful that I took the week off. My 2nd week, I was getting restless and wanted something to do ... near the end of the 2 weeks, I started cramping, bloating, my lower back was hurting and I began spotting. I ended up weeding in the backyard and planed on what to plant for next spring (trees, their location, etc) to keep my mind off things.
I really wanted to do a home pregnancy test but was good and didn't buy one. Took my urine test yesterday; I actually thought I messed up because I had to go to the washroom at 2:30 AM and then again at 4:00 AM. I did the urine test at 7:50 AM and gave it to the labs for testing... I was so nervous and thought I messed up the test. Anyway, I got the phone call today. The nurse congratulated me and said that I was positive. We will find out in 2wks if I have twins or not as we had 2 eggs implanted in me.
Good luck to the rest of you ladies out there.

What are people's thoughts on coffee? I have a large tim's coffee daily. Still in the 2ww so haven't been concerned terribly about what I'm putting in my body as there isn't even a placenta if I am indeed preggo. Wondering tho is caffeine really bad? And if so, why? It doesn't make me jittery.
I would probably stop or really minimize the caffeine. I don't drink coffee but am addicted to tea and I have started cutting that down to one a day max. That includes my green tea and my camomile teas.
As well, I thought you ladies might find this interesting: http://www.motherisk...women/index.jsp

But I haven't seen a lot of research to support these things. The good thing is these foods are all good for us, so why not?

Our story:
Nov 2009 - laparoscopy, endometriosis removed.
Jan-July 2010 - Clomid. Nuffin.
Nov 2010- IVF attempt 1 - two embryos transferred
Dec 2010 - Positive beta
Jan 2011 - Blighted ovum
Oct 2011 - IVF attempt 2
Nov 2011 - Negative beta. Done.
Winter 2011/12 - published: http://offbeatmama.c...t-not-defective
Spring 2012 - PRIDE training
July 11, 2012 - positive HPT - WTF??!!! Natural pregnancy it seems! Approx 6.5 weeks along
July 20, 2012 - Appointment with doctor. Ultrasound - it's in there!! 7w6d along, due March 1, 2013!
This is really happening! *happydance*
February 25, 2013 - Dakota Rose arrived after a somewhat unexpected c-section. And we are so in love.

During my 2WW, I stayed on bed rest for 5 days after transfer. (Doctors orders) the rest of the time I took it very easy. I had zero coffee, chocolate, or junk food.
I took a very short walk now and then, but that is all. I took my medication on time exactly every single day. I didn't follow any of the old wives tales of pineapple and other junk.
I got a positve beta on the 13dp1dt!

I am a little worried - with my bad OHSS prior to my ET, my nurses said the bloating would get worse before it got better. I almost died as I had already gained about 8 lbs and looked 5 months pregnant. I started doubling my Gatorade intake, but it is now 2 days after my ET and I am back to normal. I have slight cramping which I was told was my ovaries going back to its normal size. This is my worry - if I was supposed to get worse due to my HsG increasing, and i have cramping, I am worried my babies did not take. I won't do a hpt as that will freak me out more. Am I crazy? See what this 2ww does to you?
Also I am obsessing on symptoms; itchy breasts, food cravings, yup I must be crazy. Please help!

TTC since Sept. 2008
Nov. 2009 - DH - motility and morphology issues
Dec. 2009/Jan. 2010 Clomid, Ovidrel, & IUI - I react horribly to Clomid, stick it through - produce 2 follies
mid Jan - BFP!!! Can't believe it!!
Feb. 14. 2010 - M/C...not a Happy Valentines Day - I am devastated to lose this little one
April 2012 - start TTC again; FSH is 18 plus right tube looks blocked DR is concerned
May 2012 - DH numbers have drastically improved!!! Vitamins/exercise/no heat all paid off
May 2012 - my FSH is 15 - IUI is cancelled; fearful I will not have any eggs - I'm devastated - first time it was him, now me?
meet with DR - do AMH test (supposed to be more accurate than FSH) decide to do IUI irregardless of FSH #'s although DR thinks I won't respond
May 2012 - Have 2 acupuncture treatments
June 16 2012 - day 3 start of 200 ml Puregon
June 21 - swelling in hands, feet, breasts, & abdomen - severe pain go to ER - cyst burst
June 22 - u/s & blood work - I am responding (yay!), but no sign of over-stimulation; told to take dose of Puregon
June 22 - clinic calls & tells me my E. numbers look too high - they are afraid I'm overstimulating told to not take next dose
June 23 - u/s & blood work - four follies but all on right side; sono showed blockage but laproscopy 4 years ago showed both clear
June 24 - Ovidrel shot @ 10 pm
June 25 - packing my bags to go to TO for IUI in am! a bit of cramping from Ovidrel but nothing too serious
June 26 - IUI at 11 am - three follies 11, 17, & 19 - E2 levels good - DH's numbers good -
June 27 - the dreaded TWW begins... I'm already going crazy & its only day 1
July 11 - Beta is negative... sniff sniff... round 2 begins...
July 12 - start taking natural supplements - Royal Jelly, frozen Wheatgrass Juice, CoQ10
July 15 - day 3 of AF start stimming again same dose of Puregon - FSH has dropped - 11 this time
July 20 - two follies 15 and 16 both on right side :-( - on the plus side no crazy swelling this round - just some bloating & some emotional outbursts
July 21 - trigger tonight with IUI on Monday....
Aug 8 - Negative again - Round 3 - It does feel like a boxing ring & I do feel like I've just been knocked down. I'm so sad.
Aug 10 - day 3 u/s - 3 follies - two on left (11 & 12)!!!! one on right (12)... I hope hope hope the left side matures...started stimming today. FSH is now 8.5 with normal E2 numbers! It has continually dropped!
Aug. 17 - IUI number 3...left follie 2.1 - right 1.7 - DH's numbers normal & best they've ever been. Surged on my own so no trigger. Could this be the month?
Sept. 3 - BFN... heartbreak - RE wants us to move to IVF, but I need to take some time to get my spirit back.

My clinic doesn't give many strict restrictions in regards to the tww They essentially told me no vigorous activity (which they defined as no running and horseback riding). They stated that bedrest was probably not necessary, but they did recommend to take things "easy" for the first couple days. The day of the transfer I came home and rested for a couple hours, then went for a stroll, made supper, and did some work on the computer. The following three days were pretty similar with light activity in the form of walking and easy hikes. I don't do well sitting around the house when I am stressed and I feel like getting out and about was really beneficial for my state of mind. My husband also really enjoyed it because it meant that for once we were walking at his normal pace rather than my normal. He is the tortoise to my hare.
The hard part for me is that as the ovary pain improves and I feel less bloated I keep forgetting that I am supposed to take things easy. Twice now I have caught myself running and had to stop. (That sounds really strange, like I have the tendency to sleep run or something.) Once it was pouring rain and I had to go four blocks and suddenly remembered after three blocks (uphill). The other time wasn't as bad and I stopped after less than a block. I feel like I need to shackle my feet together like they do for prisoners so I can only shuffle along instead of run.

In terms of taking time off - ER was on Wednesday, so I took Wednesday - Friday off and Monday for my transfer. I felt well and wanted to go to work on Tuesday so I did. In general I've been taking it easier than I normally would, but I'm still trying to walk lots because I need some activity and its good for the mind too.

pinkeliza - I've found myself running also. Just simple things, like running through the house when my phone rings in another room in the house, running up or down the stairs, etc. Its just a habit and its hard to remember not to do it! I've never had any pain afterward though.
I'm 5dp5dt today and doing pretty well so far. DH has been amazing keeping me occupied. I've been reading lots of books, watching lots of movies, playing lots of games, and sleeping.

Anyone know why pineapple or walnuts and eggs are deemed good sources of food for implantation?
Is this scientific or a belief?
Well there could certainly be worse things they want you to eat. Sounds good to me. I'll have to remember these things for when its my turn !
