Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone out there is starting a cycle in Oct. I am not sniffing Synarel so, I'm on my way. I am attempting for a second baby and 2 years ago when I was on these boards found it very helpful.

hi guys!
i'm cycling at UBC! :)
I'm calling in to start my superovulation/iui tomorrow. They found out i'm a bit high in TSH so i have to start thyroid med's ( low dose).
Let's all keep positive..........

Hey Nire! It's been awhile since the last time we chatted. I'm happy to hear that you're starting your IUI cycle and hope that Oct/Nov will bring you your little miracle. I'm on thyroid meds too (have been since they took out half my thyroid glands a few years ago).

Hi there,

Renie, Looks like we are about 10 days apart on our cycle.

Nire, good luck with your IUI cycle!

Nice to see other ubc'ers... let's keep talking. How do you guys like the clinic so far? Is it your first cycle?

It is nice to connect with other UBC'ers. There seems to be a lot of people cycling at PCRM. So far, I like it. The only downside for me is that it's a little out of the way so it takes me close to an hour to get there in normal traffic. I see this is your second cycle there, Andia, so you must've had a positive experience as well, which is good. We saw Dr. McComb and Dr. Chow.

hi guys!
yes, this is my first experience with treatment. My gp said she would refer me to the best and i think she did. I love dr rowe and yes, his dry sense of humour is intriguing!
After doing my initial 'enhanced' blood work, i was a bit high in tsh and so i am now on a low dose of med's for this. Dr said it has nothing to do with my infertility though... damn.. thought we had something there!

The drive is a killer! My last appt was 8 45 am and it took me over 1 hour with a full bladder of WAY too much coffee. I was a loon on the road :) NEVER doing that again... coffee at starbucks at the hospital from now on. I have also given up on free parking unless it's after 3 pm. I am down there mid next week for my 45 min intro to choices on med's etc... that should be interesting. I just find that at least being in the system gives me hope. I was driving myself crazy attending baby showers and baptisms, one after another. I feel like this is my little secret (weapon, so to speak) to try and catch up to all those' oh my god, we're pregnant and we weren't even trying' *gag gag*

Do you guys find it weird in the waiting room? I was sitting there, watching the ladies, some with hubby's and some with out. Kinda strange that we are all there for the same reason! Then again, my husband did remind me that sitting in the cancer clinic would be no different. I guess infertility just seems 'different'..... i guess i'm embarassed?

Thoughts?

Hey Guys -

Just thought I would pop in here. I just finished my 1st IVF cycle at UBC with a BFP. I go for my first ultrasound next week to make sure everything is ok and find out how many are in there.

I must say I was really pleased with everyone there. We saw Dr Chow and Dr Rowe. The nurses are great and I never felt uncomfortable. The only thing I wish they would do differently is give a bit more information in advance. I had one if the nurses tell me the reason they didn't give all of the info at once was because it could be overwhelming - but I'm the kind of person who really likes to have the info up front and then be able to digest it.

Anyways - best of luck to all of you. I hope you are all as fortunate as I was!

Jen - Congrats on your BFP!!! That's fantastic! I know what you mean about the slow trickle of information though. I like to know everything up front.

Nire - When I'm in the waiting room, I"m curious about everybody around me and what their story is. Maybe one of them is one of our buddies on this forum!

Just thought I'd drop in and wish you all the best of luck.

Hi there,

Karen- Nice to have you drop in. Can you believe it's been 2 years? Congrats on baby Elisabeth!!

Jen- Congrats on your bfp!

Nire- Your feelings of being embarrased are normal... I actually feel better seeing other women in the waiting room because it makes me feel like 'I'm not the only one who can't get pg naturally' so it makes me feel better. That sucks about your long commute to the clinic. When are you starting your cycle? Are you doing ivf or iui?

Renie- I guess less than a few weeks until you start sniffing synarel. I hate that stuff... I never think I'm doing it right, and since I have allergies, I tend to be stuffed up so not sure if I'm getting the right dosage. I'd rather do lupron injections, personally. Oh well.

I'm going for my baseline u/s today. Hope there are no cysts! I tend to get them!! I then go for my baseline b/w on Fri and if all is well, start stimming.

TTYL,
andia

hi ubc'ers!
i was at the clinic today, learning about superovulation procedure.....
will start my drug protocol once i get af... should be in a few days...
exciting stuff!
I was explaining the whole process to my dh. He FREAKED when he found out he had 'get busy' in the clinic inorder to do the procedure. I laughed and laughed... i guess he blocked that part out when the DR was explaining it the first time!
Men, HUH? :)
Take care everyone and updates soon! :)

LOL - I laughed when I saw your post, Nire. That is too funny. DH has had to get busy a couple of times already (freezing samples) but it doesn't get any less embarrassing. It's the least they can do. After all, we're the ones putting all the drugs into our bodies.

Andia - How was your u/s today?

Hi,

I had my baseline u/s today, but they didn't tell me anything. Usually they do, but this tech wouldn't. Oh well. I go in Fri for my baseline b/w so I guess I'll find out then. I have this dull ache on my right ovary, so I hope there is no cyst there. I had my 1st ivf cancelled 2 years ago b/c of a cyst, so had to go on bcp. I sort of wish that I was put on bcp for this cycle to avoid any problems with cysts. Dr R. didn't seem to think it was necessary though.

Nire- Too funny about your dh.. Let him know that all the dh's have to 'do the deed' and it's not so bad. My dh said that there is some cheesy porno videos to watch to 'help him out' if you kwim ;) Looks like you are on your way to super O/iui

Hi Renie hope all is well.

Bye for now
andia

Oh Nire! That's so exciting that you've started your IUI. Keep us posted. Sending you lots of positive baby vibes.

Hey Andia - Hope your u/s shows no cysts. Did you get the results yet?

Zoecat - DH refuses to talk about the room. LOL.

Nothing new to report from me. I bought my Synarel today and not going back to UBC until Nov 9th for my injections lessons.

Hi there,

I had my b/w on Fri and my E2 was low, there were no cysts seen on my u/s, so I started stimming on Fri :D I go in tomorrow morning for b/w and u/s to see how the follies are coming along. Hopefully I'll get lots of eggs. I don't feel any side affects yet, so hopefully the Gonal F is working. Two years ago I responded very well, so hopefully this time round I will too.

How is everyone else doing??

Renie- I guess you start next week, huh?

Nire- The injections are no big deal at all, eh? Maybe I'll see you tomorrow morning in 'the line'. ;)

Hi Girls!

i'm on day3 of gonal injections. yesterday i had a minor breakdown thinking i had done it wrong but today, no problem at all. I feel bloated and swollen- kinda gross feeling actually!. I'm still spotting from my period.... guess that is normal?
Anyone else find this a lot to remember? i was at work today freaking out as i thought i had to call the clinic today at 12 30.. it is TOMORROW! DUGH!
So.... Andia- see you in the line tomorrow my secret 'blood work' friend :)
Renie- glad to hear you are also starting injections :)
Zoecat- yes.. the magazines do look old! OH well... they will have to 'do' :)
Good luck everyone.......

Hi Girls,

It was pretty busy this morning at the clinic. I had my b/w and u/s and I've got only 7 follies so far. They ranged from sizes 8.5-13.5mm. I had much more last time I cycled (2 years ago) so I guess my age is catching up with me. They increased my Gonal F dose to 225 and I go in on Thur for another b/t and u/s. Hopefully I'll have more follies...

How's everyone doing?

Hi Nire,

Why'd they up your dose? Did they see many follies on your u/s? How was your E2#? Just curious. I was very shocked that I only have 7 follies on my u/s. Two years ago I responded so well to the Gonal F, I only stimmed for 8 days and got mild ohss. Anyhoo, good luck tomorrow and keep me posted.

Renie- How's it going?

Hi to everyone else.
