Hi ladies. What do you think of flying? My doctor does not recommend before beta. My job involves a lot of travel and I already cancelled some. I need to get two flights each lasts for one hour at the same day. My clinic said it's okay. What's your opinion on this?

You have to do what you're comfortable with.  I personally would not be flying, but that's me.

Personally I don't think it's a problem. Lots of women travel for IVF, so they'll fly at least once before the beta (to get home). Since we're doing this IVF out of province it'll be the same for me. I don't think it would be risky for a pregnancy; if anything I'm more worried about a leg clot due to the high estrogen, but there is things you can do for prevention.

9ay - I travel for ivf.  For me the concern is to not lift anything really heavy.  So I take a light carry-on with wheels only.

Muminwaiting - I would not use anything that overheats your body, especially hot water bottles over abdomen, hot baths, saunas, hot tubs.

My RE reccommended no hot yoga during my IVF with ICSI cycle (started Suprefact July 25th) so I am bummed out but will do non-heated yoga until my ovaries start to swell! :-)

dayle78 I have heard hot yoga like hot tubs is contraindicated in pregnancy as well due to increased risk of birth defects just too difficult to keep your internal temperature at a safe level, so you might be doing non-heated yoga for >40 weeks.  icon_wink.gif

Of course check with your RE.  I was told to make the switch too.

My Dr has advised against taking water-melon, papaya, banana and pineapple.  I personally felt that ginger and garlic are no no.   I initially had put some ginger to my fish porridge, only to have a tummy ache and I am uncertain if that had led to my failure.

Re: vitamins, my clinic provides a prescription for a prenatal high dose folic acid vitamin-mineral supplement called PregVit Folic Five (you have to take two pills at different times of the day to prevent the inhibition of the absorption of iron by the calcium). It took me awhile to get used to remembering to take both pills but it is worth it - they are not hard on the stomach and contain a whopping 5 mg of folic acid. Also, as it is a prescribed medication, it is covered by insurance which is a bonus!

I was prescribed PregVit Folic a Five when we first started doing treatments about five years ago. It cost me $50 per month because my plan (which is excellent) doesn't cover vitamins, even if prescribed - it wouldn't even cover iron and b12 shots! I took it for a couple of months and then discovered that taking a Materna (I take the Costco version as it is identical) and so extra Folic gave me the same as PregVit for way less $

Hi,

I have PCOS and my current TSH is 174. Should I go ahead with my IVF cycle?

Confused as doc says we can cryo-freeze embryo and implant when TSH is back to normal....

Likely not a problem but you should always inform your doctors and technicians about any and all medications you're taking prior to undergoing any procedure.

Hi CatC! I did my 4th embryo transfer on July 2nd and got my BFP today. I also like to sleep on my stomach. Dr. confirmed that for now it is fine to continue to sleep on my stomach or either side. Just relax and pamper yourself for the next 2 wks. The important thing is no stress. Believe me I know it's easier said than done but try. Best wishes.
