One question to all !!!
Since I am living away from my clinic by about, iii 10 hrs, I was thinking of taking an airplane to go do my retrieval and transfert right after the new year, anybody knows about this , if a woman under IFV could or should not take an airplane after egg transfered. I really need to know, if not I'll have to go with plan b, drive down and have a sore butt after a while... LOL

Thanks Jo

Nice to hear that Sam , congrats on the little one growing now, after talking to my clinic, they have no problem for me to fly back home... She then told me I was probably better off to fly for an hour than to drive 10 hrs lol :) I will be flying on the 2nd to start my monotoring in TO :) Since there is nothing like that around for me up north...
:) Good luck on the preg Sam

Thanks Jo :)

LOL!

I am not asking my doc about that either! or maybe I should to see if I can get him to blush!

So do you know if the rules are the same after IUI? No sex after IUI? I was not told anything. Mind you I am on those lovely progresterone suppositories so that usually kills the mood. But I'm just curious. This I might ask my doc about, but I don't see him until Wed next week.

We were told that you could have intercourse after the IUI. The more swimmers the better. But to wait 24 hrs if you experience any bleeding. Dr. Holland posts on here talk about that a bit. Some people have even talked about having a second insemination done 24-48hrs later. It's hard to keep all these do's and don'ts straight!

When I did my IVF that worked, I had made sure I booked myself in for a massage often (once a month/luckily They are covered under my health plan)
Then my sisters and I booked a full spa day on the day I estimated implantation would happen. It was a day of relaxation. We took a meditation class, hot stone massage (doesn't seem to get too hot to do any harm - the stones are just warm) and I had a facial done too. I did a lot of imagery, ie. picturing in my mind the embryo implanting and picturing my blood flowing easily to my uterus wall to nourish my baby...ect... I thought it was cheesy at first but I did it and I finally got pg after 4 failed IVF cycles. I don't know what made it work (probably the IVIG) but I know relaxation techniques can't hurt.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention...the massage guy said if your pg don't use lavender oil as it can induce contractions. Don't know how true it is, it's what he told me.

This is a great site and this thread is a fantastic idea! Thank you! :)

I see the list and I'm concerned about the fish part, because I'm craving fish and lettuce, I try to eat fish just twice a week, is something wrong with that?

I know fish has high mercury amounts. I believe that is why it is limited or cautious. Lettuce on the other hand, just be sure to wash it well before eating.

I would think that lettuce would be fine--it is a veggie!!!

Hope that helps.

fish due to high content of methyl mercury shoild be taken in smal amounts only ,specially the big fish that eat other small fish (injesting mercury from those fish too) also the ones that live longer (have more time to accumulate mercury)
tuna is supposed to be the worse in any form ,my dr told me absolutely no sushi(raw) due to e-coli infectionn
for the same e-coli lettuce and spinach should be washed thoroughly ,even better if cooked
hot dogs there are still studies bieng done to see the risk of cancer
hope that helps

I think it is funny, that when I was growing up, we ate hotdogs all the time. My kids love em. So, if there is a risk for cancer with them, then I am banning them from my house. WOW, I just can't believe it anymore-what can we eat without getting sick or die.??

you can eat certain types of fish: ( I researched since I am a vegetarian)

Shrimp, flounder, cod, sole, scallops and Lobster are considered safe and low in Mercury- I hope that helps!
If you crave a Hot dog and are unsure if it is safe, some vegetarian Hot dogs are pretty good and I recommend them.

With easter coming, I am going to miss eating some of the candy. I really like the miniture snickers, and M & M's. I know choc. has caffiene, so I am trying to stay away from it. I will eat eggs tho!!

What food do you miss eating while going thru this? I miss Subway and Peanuts!! I am craving them so bad right now, but I know it says to stay clear from them. So I am being a good girl and not eating them.

Their meat is just like Lunch meat. I guess they say to stay away from lunch meat, and since Subway's meat is classified as "lunch meat" they say to stay clear of it. They say you can eat their "hot" sandwiches--speg. meatball, chicken, ect ect. But otherwise nothing else. So that sucks. I guess like Sweetbird said, so much conflicting stories, but I am doing what I found in research, and see if that has helped me out or not!! I am sure they really do not know for sure, but I guess the Doctors might know more than me!! HAHA

The prometrium is made in peanut oil isn't it? I know many people avoid peanuts while preg. but now putting the meds up so close to the embies...soaked in peanut oil? It must be Ok.

eeekk! I love peanut butter and have been eating it on toast every morning. It's the natural organic kind that you keep in the fridge and have to stir before using.
I hadn't heard much about avoiding peanut butter. It's a protein source for me as I'm vegetarian.
Do you think it's ok to keep eating it?

I have no idea. I have been craving peanut butter here lately, but have steered clear from it, since it is on the list. I am not sure how much all this info is 100%, just do what you feel is right.
