Hi Meemee,

I had my sono done on Friday also (in Edmonton). I am sorry to hear about the not so good results. It means more waiting huh? Mine went alright. Kind of painful. They had a hard time getting the cathader (not sure how it is spelt) in the right position. That caused some pain. The HSG was less painful!
That was nice of your MIL. As least you know forsure that they are close. I am glad they changed their website. It is very helpful.
Let me know how everything goes.....take care!

Hi ladies!!

I received my consent forms last Wednesday. WOW...there is a lot to go through, pretty straight forward though.

The nurse from PCRM called yesterday (which i thought was odd for a Saturday) and left a message saying she would like to go over some start dates with me. So i am assuming she did not get my results from the Edmonton clinic. She said she would call back today, so i will tell her the news then. I hope i will have a quick recovery and will be able to cycle with the following AF :crsd:

Good luck to you ladies! hopefully your cycles will fly by..and you all get your BFP's

Take care

awsome news memee & nikkib

The only think I have to grunble right now is about their receptionists... they drive me bonkers

exemple, I was told to pay up on friday oct 5th, what do I get today but a call to pay up... it's monday...

this is just one exemple and I am getting pretty fed up with the little things.. and if it continues I will say something to one of the dR's...
anyway this is my rant, good thing the nurses and dr's have their crap together...

aside from that I am doing finr I am on the overlap BCP and lupron for now and waiting until oct 11th for the scan. going to accubalance tomorrow and hope the apt is fast too since this is during my lunch time and seems to always run late...
I expect fast efficient service... lol

Hi Girls!

I also posted on the Oct/Nov cycle thread. I have to go for the Hysteroscopy, but the wait ime is 6-8 weeks. I am very dissapointed right now. Knowing that it is something we need to do to better our chances is the only thing that keeps me going. So now i have to wait to hear when the date is, i am also on the cancellation list, that may get me in sooner!!

Take care girls!! I will still be on here often checkin in in you all!!
This is such an exciting time, knowing how close you really are to your dream's :woohoo:

Meemee - I hope you are around often and I hope that you get in for your hysteroscopy quickly. I hate the set backs and waiting games that we go through.

As for me, I had my consult today. Everything went well. They are asking DH to freeze a sample or two before we go as a back up. I was just wondering how long before you guys heard from the nurse regarding the consent forms after the consult. The Dr said I would hear from her in a day or two, does that sound right to you? Thanks for your input.

Hi Ladies!!!

Meemee, sorry to here about the hysteroscopy. I am sure everything will be fine. I am glad you are keeping positive!

Andiy, I think it was 1 1/2 weeks before I heard from the nurse. I am happy that your phone consult went good.

Time just seems to be flying by now. Our biggest dilemma is to fly or drive. The nurse said that the closest hotels were not within walking distance. So, does a person fly and rent a car/bus/taxi, or does a person drive????
Not sure what to do. Sounds like there are some good hotels around there. I haven't called to book them yet.

Take Care!

Hello Everyone!!

Nikki - that is a tough choice. Do you have the time off to be able to drive? That's what it boiled down to for us. I only have 7 days of vacation left this year, so driving was out of the question.
1-1/2 weeks!!!! Did Dr H tell you that she would be contacted you in a day or two? If we have to wait that long before she even sends us the consent forms, I think that would put us out until January (the way my cycles fall, I can't take the time off that I would need in December). I need to learn to let this go, but I am a very schedule minded person, so this is driving me crazy!!!!

Hi girls!

Nikkib-My Dh and i decided to fly. If for some reason i overstimulate or am in pain for whatever reason, we thought it would be easier to fly. Although the distance for us is about 13 or 14 hours of driving, and the cost would be about the same maybe a little more if you fly and get a rental. But you can always take a cab to the clinic. My mother-in-law said that the Sky Rail (i think that's what it is called) is literally 5 minutes away from the hotels near the clinic. The Sky Rail takes you right into Vancouver and to all the major stops in the city.

The Nurse called this morning to tell me my Hyteroscopy is booked for Nov.7!!YAY! I was put on the 'Semi-urgent' list, with how far away i live and my situation! I am also on the cancellation list, so maybe even sooner!! :crsd:

Andiy - My wait time to get the consent forms and hear from the nurse was about 10-12 days. Dr. H also told us 'in a couple of days'. I feel the same way you do, with the stupid Hysteroscopy i may not be able to cycle until after Christmas. I would suggest that you call the office and ask the receptionist to speak to your Doc's nurse, and simply ask her when she will be sending your forms as your worried you may not be able to cycle as soon as you would like. They are excellent there, i am sure she will get on it faster. The Nurse called me on a Saturday to go over everything, which i thought was odd, of course i wasn't home so she called me back sunday. Good luck sweety we are all here for you!! :grouphug2:

Renie - thank you for your support as well!!

Meemee - that's great that you are booked in already!!! I still hope that you can get in sooner, though.

I think I will take your advice if I don't hear from her by late afternoon tomorrow. I don't want to harass her too much, though. I have already done enough of that, I think. I will just tell her that I was confused as to whether they were going to phone me and then send the forms or send the forms and then phone. Do they mail the forms or send them via courier? I also need to know how much they charge for transport frozen sperm from here to there. We are freezing three samples over the next two weeks to have as back-up.

Well, I should get back to work now. How is everyone else holding up?

Hi Ladies!

Meemee - I am glad you got a date. I think it's easier to look forward with a goal date in mind! Is your hyteroscopy going to be done in Edmonton?

Andiy - I got my forms through the regular mail. It only took about a week after I talked to Dr. H. I don't remember if he told me "in a day or too" or not. It was only about 2 weeks between the phone consult, getting the consent forms and talking to the nurse. Alot sooner than I had expected. I will have to check my daytimer for exact days, but I will let you know.

I think we are going to fly. We have more than enough air miles for that.
I do have the time off...well sort of. I quit my full-time job to work from home a few months ago. I also work casual, so I can tell them when I am avaliable or not. I just told them that I wouldn't be avaliable for the month of November, and that was that. Since we haven't really told anyone about the IVF, I didn't tell work either.

Well, better go for now.....take care! Talk to you later!

Nikki - that's great that you have the flexibility. And you have a good point about the waiting being easier when you have a goal date. That's why I'm asking you guys so many questions about timelines and such. I notice that you are going to be in Burnaby on the 8th, but your ER/ET isn't until the end of November, why so long?

Meemee - I think I must have forgotten where you are from? I keep thinking that you are here in Edmonton.

Have a great day tomorrow, talk to you soon.

Meemee congrats on your getting a closer date... times goes by fast...

Hi

I have been reading this board for a while, but didn't want to join until I knew for sure that I would be going to PCRM. I had my consult today and it went well. I was pretty prepared with questions, but I did forget to ask how long after the ET I would have to hang around Burnaby and when I could fly home.

I am so eager to find out my dates as well. We had been thinking all along that it would be December, which I was mixed feeling about. I had a m/c in May and my EDD was Dec 10th. On the one hand it would have been nice to be distracted that week, but on the other hand, I guess it will be good to grieve properly that week as well before being loaded up with more hormones. -_-

I'm taking 3 months of Lupron Depot suppression first for my endo and it looks like my third shot would put my stim date dangerously close to their cutoff of December 1st. I think I would rather delay a month and wait for everyone (airports, hotels, cab drivers, Dr.'s, nurses, traffic, etc) to NOT have the distraction of the Holidays looming. January is always slow at work, so maybe it is just better off then.

What accomodations are best?

Hi Girls,

Welcome Blueslippers!! I also am going to PCRM hopefully starting in November. If you have a question about how long you have to stay after ER, call and ask to speak with the nurse, she is excellent. Although they probably will not be able to give you a very good approximation beacause everyone's situation is so different. Good luck!!
Valleygirl - thanks for the info, it will come in handy!!

Welcome J!!! I'm terribly sorry to hear about your m/c. Meemee is right, the nurse at PCRM is wonderful. I have a call into her right now. She is not in the office until tomorrow, though.

Val - how long of a drive is it from Langley to Burnaby? The girl I am staying with says it's about a half hour, but to be prepared for a lot of construction on the bridge. Does that sound about right? Is there a bus route that I could take? I tried to look it up, but I'm just so unfamiliar with Vancouver... Thanks for your help, it's really appreciated.

HI Ladies!

Welcome BlueSlippers!

Andiy - I have decided to do the whole cycle in Burnaby instead of starting in Edmonton. I am about 4 hours from Edmonton anyways, so either way I would have to stay in a hotel etc. in Edmonton.

Yesterday I booked flights and hotel rooms. We are going to rent a vehicle when we get there. I called around for hotel room rates, as well as AMA. AMA said there was nothing avaliable at any of the hotels, so I called the hotels directly. The Holiday Inn was $130/night, Executive $140/night. I ended up booking at the Accent Inn. It is North of PCRM (the other's are south), and across a major highway, but it is a new hotel. I got a king bed, fridge and microwave. They also gave me the medical rate which is $89.00/night. Quite the price difference!

We are coming from Edmonton. We have a time share out in Vancouver that we will try to book. It only has a partial kitchen though, so that might mean more restaurants meals ($$).

I should be getting my phone call this week to get my actual dates. It's very exciting to finally have a plan.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi ya'll!

Nikkib - My Dh and i also looked into Accent inns. You will have to let me know how you like the hotel. since we are also 5 hours away from Edmonton we were given the option to cycle in Burnaby or Edmonton for the first week. But since my DH is kind of short on time he can take away from work, i may just go to Edmonton. Otherwise i would have to stay in Burnaby by myself for a week or so. When do you start your BCP? I wish you the best of luck, and look forward to hearing all about your journey ;)
blueslippers - be sure to let us know as soon as you get your dates!! So exciting!!
Andiy - Hopefully you get your forms and phone call next week! Let us know! :crsd:
