Hello!

Andiy - I haven't heard anything yet. I actually got a phone call from Foothills yesterday (We were referred to both Edmonton and Calgary in May, before we knew that we needed IVF). They said that the wait would be at least 3-4 months. I graciously declined and told them that we had already decided to go with PCRM. On the other hand, I still haven't heard anything from PCRM. I called them the other day, to see if I could refer myself, and that Edmonton would be sending the information, but because we had already gone to the clinic in Edmonton, they wanted us to wait until they got everything. Edmonton said they would phone and let me know when they sent the referral off (she said within a week), but I haven't heard anything yet. I will give them a little more time before I start bugging them again.

Meemee - Thanks for the info about the phone consult. It gives us an idea of what to expect. It sounds like everything is going good for you!

Take Care Everyone!

Meemee - October??? Oh, I'm so excited for you. That's wonderful news. Why do you have to have the sono done? Did you know anything about that? It's the first I've heard of it. I'm so glad everything went well for you.

Nikki - You are a much more patient person than I am. I would be phoning them the day after a week was up. But, I don't know that I really care for the girls in referrals now that Gina is gone. She was so nice. Good luck, and don't be afraid to call, things get missed by accident sometimes.

Thank you Andiy!!!!! I have to have the Sonohystagram done just to check for possible Fibroids or Polyps on the uterus. It's a fairly common procedure for women going through fertility treatment.

Nikkib - Good luck with the phone consult...let us know how it goes!!!!!!

Hi Ladies!

Nikki - I'm so glad that you heard from them. If it goes anything like it did for me, you could hear from PCRM as early as tomorrow. Keep your phone handy. I'm so excited to hear when your consult is going to be!!!!

Meemee - I wonder if the sonohystogram is something that I could be proactive on and book now. Or do you know if it has to be done on the menstrual cycle before you start treatment? I think I will call Edmonton tomorrow and find out. Thanks for the info.

Sorry for the barge

Hi Andiv,

The sonohystegram has to be done following your menstral cycle and before ovulation. I just had one done, booked through Edmonton clinic. I would be proactive and get them to book this.

How are you?

Hope all is well

Thanks Carey for the info, I am doing well. How are you making out?

Nikki - Sorry to hear that you havent got the call yet. It will be soon.

As for me, I just realized that I probably won't be able to get the AFC or sono done on this cycle. I am off to NWT in less than a week and I my boss has scheduled two company bbqs for the last two days that I am there. Of course, that is when I expect my CD1 and I am the one who has to organize, run and clean up all the bbq stuff. So, unless I can book the AFC after 2:30 - 3:00pm, it's not going to happen until my next cycle. That's okay, though, I think I have come to terms with a minor set back now.

Meemee - have you booked your sono yet?

Hi Ladies :wavey:

Andiy - Of course AF has not come yet. I just had spotting for a few days and it stopped, so now i am on Provera for seven days then it should come right after that  It seems like when we least want our AF to show up, boom there it is!!! :icon_question: And when i do want it..... Frustrating!!!!!!!!!

Good luck with the AFC booking...hope it works out. :crsd:

A far as the Sonohystagram goes.... It is something that has to be done before you start your cycle with the PCRM Clinic. At least from what i understand. I did not know it had to be done until my phone consult with PCRM. I think it is something that they require for new patients. It has to be done shortly after your period stops and before ovulation. I would definitely ask the nurse or Doc at the Edmonton Clinic, they may very well let you have it done now.

Take care!!

Is PCRM a new name for an older clinic? I am going to Genesis (which is in Burnaby) and I know there was another one there in Vancouver General Hospital. Is that one called PCRM now or is it 3 clinics in Burnaby now?

My wait was quite quick (consult in Feb. and IVF/ICSI in June) and the stats for Genesis were just as high as Foothills. For some reason people just seem to favour 1 province or the other.

Best of luck and sticky dust to all of you. I will be in Burnaby doing my FET the 1st week of October.

Marina, PCRM is a new clinic in Burnaby. Genesis is not in Burnaby it's in Vancouver and now they've opened another one in Surrey. The only other clinic is UBC, also in Vancouver at the Women's Hospital.

I'm also at Genesis (in Vancouver). Hope that clears everything up for you.

Nikki - any word yet?

Marina - Danalori is right, they are all different clinics. PCRM was just opened in July of 2006, I believe. How are you finding dealing with Genesis? Sticky dust to you as well.

Well, AF started for me today, and I am booked for my AFC tomorrow morning. The nurse told me to talk to the Dr tomorrow about having the sono done because I leave for Northwest Territories on Friday. She had me all booked in for next week, but I will not be here. I am hoping that they will be able to do it on Friday as I should be down to just spotting by then. Here's hoping!!! Send some positive thoughts my way on this one if you don't mind. I would love to have it all done before the consult so we can hopefully get things moving.

Hi girls,

I just wanted to let you know that I had my AFC done this morning. I have 11 follicles on the right and 14 on the left. Dr M said that looks great. And, he agreed to do my sono on Friday morning. Things are really coming along. And the time should go by really fast after that as DH and I are leaving for the Northwest Territories on Friday night, returning the Sunday right before our consult. Everything seems to be coming together nicely.

Hi everyone!!

Andiy - What a great count!! :icon_wink: Awesome! Good luck with your Sono on friday, you'll have to let me know how it went and what it was like. I'm patiently waiting for AF to stop. With me it could be a few days or even a couple of weeks. My system is so messed up, always has been...ughh :sigh: I may have to start provera in four to five days if it doesn't stop on it's own.

Nikkib - Have you had a call yet??

Take care Ladies :grouphug2:

Well Ladies,

I just wanted to stop in and let you know that I will be away for the next week. I will try to drop by really quick to let you know how the sono was (Meemee - have you booked yours yet?) and then I am off to the Northwest Territories. In case I don't get a chance to talk to you before I leave, have a great week. I will let you know how my consult goes on October 2. Until then, lots of hugs and best wishes.

Meemee - Yay, your sono is booked!!!! It's not too bad. I had mine today. It was a little painful, but I think that might have been because I am still so early in my cycle. It's very similar to the HSG (I'm not sure if you've had that or not) except they use saline instead of dye and they don't have to force it through the tubes. But, everything looked perfect according to Dr M. So, here we go waiting again. I hope that we are offered treatment right away after our consult. Good luck to you, I hope you get in on your next cycle. This is so exciting!!!!

Nikki - anxiously awaiting some news from you.

Well, I am off to NWT, so I won't be around for the next 10 days. I hope I hear lots of good news when I get back.

PCRM finally phoned on Tuesday, called them back and made an appointment for a phone consult on October 16th. I was so excited.....phoned my mom to tell her, and while I was on the phone with my mom, PCRM called back. Something happened (not sure what) and they asked me if I would be interested in an appointment for the following day! I didn't know what to say! Yes, of course. So I had my phone consult last Wednesday. Everything went really good, Dr is really nice. My questions are answered. I still had to go for and AFC. Called in Day 1 on Wednesday, Edmonton phoned me back on Thursday and went into Edomonton Friday morning for AFC. All good, 8 follicles on one side, 6 on the other. Just waiting for consent forms from Burnaby. Everything seems to be moving really fast now!

I am so exicited for all of us!
Take Care!!!!!!

Hi Ladies,

Thank-you....I am very excited.
Meemee, that's strange that you haven't received your consent forms yet. I received mine yesterday. We went through them last night, and I sent them back today.
Lot's of papers. Different paper to sign for each medication (drug uses/side effects), and a bunch of other stuff.
Your's should be there any day!

Val - thanks for the info. I haven't been on the website lately. Since we will be flying there instead of driving, I was hoping to find a hotel that is very close to PCRM, so we wouldn't have to rent a vehicle for the whole time we are there.
I have been very happy with everyone I talked to there. Everyone is very friendly and so helpful. Have you started your 2nd cycle?

Take Care Ladies!

Nikkib - I talked to the receptionist at PCRM yesterday and she said my forms were sent early last week, so they should be here any day. maybe it's because of where i am it takes so stinking long  !! The wait is killin me...and we've only just begun!!EEEEK!!

Anyway, We found a few hotels within five minutes of the clinic. They have some recommendations on PCRM's website. My mother-in-law was in Vancouver on holidays a few weeks ago and she actually personally drove to the clinic then drove around to find the nearest hotels. The ones she found are some of the same ones they recommend on their website!!

So good luck...and keep in touch...this is soooo exciting :icon_wink:

Hi Ladies,

I had my Sonohystogram done today...with bad news. I have some sort of a lesion inside the uterus. He thinks it is scar tissue but not quite sure. He thinks they will probably want a test done where they go inside with a scope, and if need be remove the lesion. I also had a fibroid but it is in a spot where it does not interfere with anything. Because i had the test done at the Edmonton clinic (which is where i have been going for the last 8 months) they faxed the results to PCRM in Burnaby. So now i have to wait  for my Doc there to review it and decide when and if they are going to do anything.

Needless to say i probably will not be cycling this month. I wish you all the best of luck...i will be checking in on everyones progress.

Hugs
