Hi everyone,

New to the forums, but not to TTC.

My husband and I have been TTC since December 2012 with no success.

No BFP or miscarriage, normal semen analysis, normal FSH, clear HSG, 6 unsuccessful cycles with clomid & progesterone, trying acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

We got referred to the PCRM clinic in Burnaby, but the doctor there recommended that we go through Edmonton as the monitoring needed for my cycles can't be done long distance, so we are waiting till October for our Edmonton appointment.

To help expedite things and get a clearer picture, my Dr in BC ordered an AMH test which I just did this morning.

It seems like this whole process is about trying your patience and faith. I am excited that our wait to get the IUI/IVF process is almost over.

I would love to connect with those going through a similar experience/in the Edmonton area, there doesn't seem to be a lot in the way of support groups or forums for the Edmonton region.

TTC #1 since December 2012

Hi there,

Thought I'd throw a reply in, although I am also fairly new to the boards and don't post often.

We are also in Edmonton, dealing with male factor and TTC for 2 years. Just had our initial consult with Dr. Motan this past Sunday. It was basically a bunch of questions about your history. Then he sent us for a bunch more tests (AFC, HSG, SIS for me, and genetic testing for my husband, which takes 3 months to come back!) plus a whole pile of blood tests. I just made our followup appointment which is unfortunately not until Dec 2, but I suppose that's ok since some of the tests take that long to get results.

So it's a bit disappointing that it's still a waiting game, but we're trying to stay positive that atleast we've started the process. I just started my husband on CoQ10 today as well, so perhaps that will help us get his numbers up.

I'm hoping this board can help with all the questions I think of during the next few months before our appointment!

So that's almost an entire year from when I got in to getting to transfer. The waiting sucks but it's def been an exciting/ nervous process. I find the staff are very nice their good luck to you both

If I can ask, why did it take almost a year to get to the transfer stage?

Miss Magoo82, I hope with the co enzyme Q10 your husband is taking Ubiquinol and not Ubiquinone as it is a more potent and absorbable. Just a side note :)

Hi

I'm also in Edmonton and we are seeing Dr Motan as well. We had our first appointment with him in late May and a follow up in mid July. We're dealing with DOR issues and will be starting IVF in October. We've been trying since for two years and have had two MC's.

Good luck! So was October the soonest you could start IVF as per the clinic, or was that due to your own personal timeline? Just wondering if there is a wait to start once it is decided to move forward with IVF.

Thanks for the note! I initially had him just on regular CoQ10 but after doing some research I did see all the recommendations for the Ubiquinol ones. I bought two bottles at Costco and have him switching right now :)

It was our own personal time line. We have a trip planned September 15 - October 4th to Europe so we decided to wait.

Thought I'd throw an update in - since my past post I've had all my diagnostic tests done, including my AFC with Dr. S, I thought she was really nice - and it went well. She said my ovaries looked good with lots of follicles.

Then the BIG whammy - I had my dreaded HSG and SIS back to back with Dr. M. I'm relieved to say the HSG was actually not bad. It was over before I knew it, uncomfortable, but not painful. The SIS later in the day was a bit more uncomfortable actually as the process took a bit longer to finish. But they had me laughing through it.

I'm happy to say both tests came back great - my tubes are clear and my uterus is "perfect". He basically confirmed we will need IVF though due to MFI.

The only bad thing is my next appointment had to be rescheduled to quite far away. I'm hoping that we can get a cancellation earlier though, but we still need DH's keryotyping results to come back.
