PW,
I had recently completed an IVF cycle and did not have an HSG test done prior to my protocol. It did not come recommended for my situation.

That would make sense for tubal - aren't they checking if the tubes are open?

Our clinic does it as standard.  I know it's not your question, but I've heard it across many clinics.

See my about me page for details on our IF journey including adoption and other avenues.

Thanks! I don't have tubal issues we have male factor infertility but did not know if it was standard or not.

Hi MCG,

I'm still waiting for our protocol from Dr. R.  We are on 6 week wait while I take Metformin to regulate Insulin. They  scheduled bloodwork to  retest Insulin on June 15. Last I spoke with Lise she said we just have to do Mock for testing if insulin comes back normal then we can cycle. We will have to wait for AF which will probably be another month wait  as my AF is due week before June 15th.  So that will put us in July for next AF then 21 days on BCP, then wait for  AF and start hormones. So looking like August for Retrieval and Transfer..    I am just trying to put together a timeline... I have to fit my cycle in Summer months as I am starting a new job the last week of Aug and don't have any sick time and my sister is getting married on Aug 22. Hopefully that wont be Retrieval week as we live 3 hour drive from the clinic.

PW - I had a HSG done before my OB would even give me a referral to Conceptia, it was a completely painless procedure for me BUT my tubes weren't blocked (I think it is painful if your tubes are blocked).

PW- did you have your HSG done? How did you find it?
Our first apt was the end of June and Dr.R won't move ahead for us until after HSG and we wait another 4-6 months to see if we can conceive naturally even though we have tried for 1.5 yrs without ever getting pregnant. Just wondering if that's been recommended for anyone else?

It's done as a part of the pre-referral work-up at our clinic. We are also dealing with male factor, but I had HSG done to rule out any tubal blockages and to have a good look at my uterus. It's a pretty simple procedure -- felt like bad menstrual cramps during, but I went right back to work afterwards! Good luck!
