Hello everyone.

After 3.5 years of trying  I finally conceiving at my 6th attempt at IVF. Mt beta at 11dp5dt came back 258. My clinic do not do a second blood test if beta is over 100. I have an ultrasound scheduled the next week.

At 4 weeks I was nervous because I was not feeling anything in my abdomen. I was very tired and a little light headed. As soon as I hit the 5th weak I started to feel crampy. There were moderate cramps lasting for 4-5 minutes, 2-3 times a day. Today at 5 weeks 3 days; I feel like I am about to get my period. I feel pressure in my groin and lower abdominal area. It’s not very strong but enough to make me nervous. It’s almost constant. It disappears from time to time but come back after half and hour or so. Cramping is not listed as a "normal" symptom of pregnancy in any book that I read. I am so scared that I’ll loose this baby. I was wondering if any of you experienced similar cramping and have healthy pregnancy/baby?

Thank you very much

I am almost 8 weeks and have had days of cramping and pressure too that I thought for sure my period was going to come. If you aren't spotting I wouldn't worry too much. It could just be stuff growing and stretching in there. A lot of women on here have had cramping during their whole first trimester. Fingers crossed that it's just your bean getting comfy :)

Hello,

Around 5 weeks I also had some cramping...no other symptoms. I was terrified...but my doctor reassured me this was normal. I had cramping on and off throughout my pregnancy...it is usually your uterus stretching...it feels worrisome but it isn't.

I didn't have any other symptoms until 6 week when nausea hit me HARD!!!

Good luck!! All the best!

I also had cramping on and off throughout my whole first trimester and some in my second as well. It can be from the progesterone support as well as the uterus stretching. If there is no bleeding, i wouldn't worry too much. Just drink some water and lay down with your feet up.

I've definitely had some ups and downs and in the end this is what I've learned - nothing makes any sense in the second 2ww (the wait between BFP and 1st US). I've had no bleeding, spotting, heavy bleeding, cramping, and that was with the one PG that did go well! I've also had some of those same things when I had pregnancy losses, and with one of my losses I had no bleeding or spotting at all. I can honestly say that this 2WW is much more stressful for me that the first 2WW. My friend suggested to me that anytime I am worried I should visualize my little bean 'snug as a bug in a rug'. She did that with her IVF pregnancies and she felt it really helped her keep a cool head. I can't say it did the same for me, I'm not into visualization, but I tried to focus on the fact that I was so close, and anything could happen, and something amazing was definitely happening inside my body - I just had to keep it together long enough to get a first peak. With that in mind, if you are really worried you can try asking for an earlier US, some clinics will accommodate those requests, others wont.

hang in there

:flowers:

Cramping is so stressful.  I had cramping with my twins, so bad sometimes that I had to sit down.  I was sure it was a bad sign, but it was not.  I also had cramping with all my losses.  I have a theory that some uterus are just more sensitive and cramp more for whatever reason.  Try not to read in to it, it can be a very good thing.  Stay occupied with other stuff, and get through the days till the u/s.  Best of luck, you have been through a lot and are deserving.  If you are really stressed call the clinic and tell them, they might have some reassurance for you.

Hi,
Hope you are feeling better. I started cramping at around 6 weeks, and than heavy bleeding came short after. In emergency room I was sure it is all over, but everything turned out ok. I was cramping and heavy bleeding again at weeks 8 and than 12 but no miscarriage.
So, take it easy, do not stress, maybe bed rest for a few days.
Good luck.

Me too.  In fact I was so sure that things were over that I got my 7 week US performed at 6 weeks (they wanted to rule out ectopic) and there was a heartbeat and everything.  Best wishes for a speedy US and some comfort. :)

Hi ladies. Thank you very much for your replies! I'm so relieved to hear you also experienced cramping in early pregnancy. However just one day after I posted my question, my cramps subsided. I barely feel some discomfort. Now I am worried that I do not cramp! The second 2ww is a lot harder, I cannot agree more.

Hang in there, I lost my cramps too (and am relieved) - they seem to come and go.  What stress! And after 5 IVF's you are DEFINITELY deserving of less stress.

Update: A scan showed a gestastional and a yolk sac. Doctor told that everything looks good. So apparently cramping in early days was not a bad thing. Now I do not have any cramping rather have pressure in my groin area and some discomfort at abdominal area. I try to not to pay too much attention. And 'snug as a bug in a rug' technique works too. I can not wait to hear the heartbeat. Maybe than I may relax a little bit more.

Thank you all for your replies.
