The clinic has been frustrating more and more. They never answer the phone and you are always at their mercy as to when they call you back. Yesterday I was afraid to go pee in case I missed their call.

Today I went to pick up my meds for my second round of IVF only to discover they are going with different drug companies and they tried to switch my drugs on me without any consultation from my doctor. Then the dosage was different then what my doctor and I had agreed upon. I met with the docotor on call but it was still a frustrating experience.

They are becoming a factory, chugging out as many patients as they can. They work in a group partice so last time I went through my entire cycle and didn't see my RE the whole time, only at the WTF appointment. They have a monopoly in Ottawa and it shows.

I have mixed feelings.  They have some wonderful doctors, nurses and ultrasounds technicians.  Also the clinic is very clean.  I never saw my re while cycling.  I know several clinics are set up this way too.  What I didn't like is the lack of communication to the patient and with the lab.  I think they get the report and interpret the results without talking to the lab.  We switched clinics and I have direct communication with the embryologist.

i recognize that had we been successful I might Feel different lol!  So its important that everyone comes to their own judgment.

I think that this is a very organized and professional clinic. Everyone that works there has been kind, compassionate and patient with me. I've been finding the process to be nerve-wracking and emotionally draining, but they're doing a great job at guiding me through all of the steps. It's true that you generally have to leave a message, but I usually get a call back less than an hour later.

Just out of curiosity, how difficult is it to go to a clinic out of town? I'm in Ottawa, so I guess the closest one would be Montreal? How would that work? I've had appointments every morning before work for four days in a row!

I am 21 hours away! Communication is a must!!! This clinic just does not have communication happening!

For my first IVF I went to clinic 4 hours away. it was very easy.. Spent about 4 days in the room compared to 17 days!!

Good thing I have a place to stay while I am there!! BUT the expectation of being away from home for 17 days is ridicules! Any hospital can draw blood and watch the e2 levels for the first whole week and they can also perform ultrasounds that can be emailed to the clinic on the same day!

Here is my warning to all the Ottawa Fertility Clinic will contact family and children services about you if you have other children. After failing at all procedures to assist in pregnancy they attempted unsuccessfully to personally attack my life through a false compliant to family and children services. Please all beware and guard your information as my patient information was also compromised as well.

Now that I have been a patient for a while, and been through two IVFs, I can give more info.  My husband and I have always found the staff to be very friendly and accomodating.  The nurses are great and you will be in and out very quickly when you are going for bloodwork or ultrasounds.  They were very rarely late for any appointments and, even then, no more than 10 minutes.  The IVF nurses and recovery nurses are also really nice.  My first IVF, the nurse had a bit of trouble with the IV and had to try twice but I know it can be hard to get in those little veins.  The second time there were no issues at all.  They are open every day, so you can always get support when you need it and are not working around the schedule of the clinic.  The ultrasound technicians are good but I did like some more than others. My favourite is Mihaela :)  She is awesome.

What some people may not like is that you will have no control over who does your retrieval or transfer.  You will get whichever doctor is on that day.  I didn't have issues with this as I found them all to be great, but I know that some people want to always see the same RE.  Also, another RE may review the response that you are having to your stims and may recommend the increase or decrease in meds.  Again, there is always an on-call doctor that will work with you and make decisions throughout the process.

Another negative, is that we were not really given guidance on things to eat and drink or not eat and drink during the cycle or now that I am pregnant.  I think that I will get some info when I speak to the doctor at our first ultrasound but I know that some places do give you a lot more advice or guidance.

The facilities are nice and clean.  There is a pharmacy on-site.  Bloodwork results come back very quickly.  We have been very happy with our experience there.

I was at this clinic and was rejected by them as a patient. I went to  two clinics in Toronto and they were more then happy top discuss options with me and didn't feel that the reason OFC rejected me was valid. I know of another 2 women who have had the same issue.

They were also unwilling to do my remote monitoring.  They are the only clinic in Ottawa and it shows. They put their statistics and pocket above patient care.

If OFC won't provide you with treatment i highly advise going to another clinic for a second opinion.

Clean place. Seem friendly in person. Communication sucks. I got two calls today. I called before I left kingston so I could pick up enough meds while I was there before driving the hour home. Few hours later I get a second call changing my dose so now I don't have enough. Now I have to drive an hour each way tomorrow too, then the next day for ultrasounds again. I don't mind the extra cost and having extra meds at home. I am only cd6, so I expect to need a lot more anyway. I was told no information about how things were progressing over the phone. I had questions and was hung up on. Just here are your orders, and bye.

i am really grateful for the kingston satellite capabilities, as I couldn't do the drive at 2 1/2 hours each way easily.
