Hi all/Dr Fiona,

I've been told to try Royal Jelly to help egg quality.  I will take it in pill/capsule form and was just wondering what dose is recommended per day?

Also, are there any brands in particular that you'd recommend?

Thanks!

And if anyone has any Royal Jelly success stories, I'd love to hear them!! :-)

As with most things, you never really know what helps or not, and what is a wive's tale... but I took one (big) capsule a day on my successful IVF cycle. After that time it was almost impossible to find royal jelly anywhere near me in capsule form. A couple months ago I found a dr. that had brought some in so I'm back on it.

Good luck!

Thanks! I will do some googling and see about exact doses and if it's still available in pill form! I hope so, as it's so much easier to quickly down a pill :-)

A big congrats to you all with your bfps!!

If anyone knows where to find it in pill form (preferably GTA), i would love to know. The fresh frozen form makes me gag badly no matter what its mixed with.

Do you have Kardish there?  That is where I got mine (in Ottawa).

I couldn't find it in health food stores for a couple years (where I'd gotten it before) - just the liquid vials that frightened me, lol! It turns out some naturopaths can order it in, in capsule form, although apparently its tricky for some reason. Anyway, a friend who uses a naturopath brought it in and that's how I got mine.

Nope, no kardish. Heading to Ottawa for the day next week, so will see if I have the chance to go.

Thanks for the offer but I'll be travelling with the boss. I found a couple of places that sell online to Canada so I will also check their reviews.

I just stumbled across this site (pipingrock.ca) that sells it and is very inexpensive! Shipping supposedly only $4 too...
Didn't place an order yet as I want to get other ppls' opinions first!! Check it out and let me know what you think :-).

And does approx 3000mg sound right??

Great question!

We usually recommend 1-1.5 grams per day of a royal jelly extract that is standardized to 6% of 10-HDA (the active component).

We use a freeze dried product as there have been some questions about the stability of the 10-HDA in fresh extract. Standardized is always better however sometimes you can't trust what labels say. Ours is professionally compounded for the clinic! Hope this is helpful in some way.
