Has anyone done a donor egg cycle using anonymous, frozen eggs from the US at the RFP?

If we don't see a miracle with our current cycle, it looks like donor eggs are our next step, so I'm just looking for anyone with experience!

Thanks!

Have you talked to the clinic about this at all? I'm not sure if things have changed in the 6 years since I went through this but at the time I was told that the clinic didn't accept anonymous donor cases.  I'd be curious to know if that is still protocol or if they've changed it at all.

I believe this is a relatively new thing at RFP. You can purchase 6 vitrified eggs from an egg bank in the US for $11k.

if you scroll down and read the last paragraph it touches on it. Dr. Scott heads up the program.

I don't have experience using the US frozen egg bank that RFP is affiliated with but when I was a patient at RFP I cycled with a woman who had used the frozen donor eggs. Out of the six eggs shipped to RFP, 3 didn't survive the thaw and one arrested. She transferred the remaining surviving embryos and got a BFN. Nothing to freeze. Did RFP give you any indication of success rates at their clinic using the frozen egg bank? When I was looking into this option a few years ago, I think I recall RFP telling me that there had been some issues on how the eggs were frozen, not the thawing process. Again, this was a few years ago when their frozen egg program was just starting out.

TTC since I was 28; Started fertility treatments at 35.

I had a consult with RFP about DE back in the spring. Like Mountainchick said, you get 6 eggs for $11 000 through MyEggBank. There is no guarantee about how many will thaw but I was told that if you get an extremely bad batch, they will send more eggs at a reduced cost. The RE told me that egg freezing and thawing techniques have greatly improved in the last couple of years and they have been happy with MyEggBank.
I chose not to use RFP because DH has male factor and the RE told me that if we don't get good embryos, MyEggBank will most likely blame it on the male factor, not the DE. I appreciated his honesty and decided to keep looking.

DH - 37, MF (morphology)
IVF 1- cancelled due to poor response
IVF 2- poor response, converted to IUI- BFN
IVF 3- finally made it to transfer- BFN
IVF 4- BFP!

Yes, I had a vitrified egg cycle with them this past June and I am now expecting fraternal twins next year. Here is the results:

  • One did not survive the thaw
  • One did not survive ISCSI
  • One did not fertilize
  • One went on to day 6 and did not survive
  • Two implanted, with none left to freeze.

At the time I was booking, which was last January, they claimed a 100% success rate for conceiving with their current batches with MyEggBank. Prior to that, they had less success. I asked about their live birth stats and they could not provide.

I bought 6 vitrified eggs from MyEggBank at around 10K USD. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Wow, nice to know they have that option now.  I vaguely remember being told it was illegal or something back in the day. I was fortunate enough to have my sister donate for me at the time though.

I know this is an old thread, but how was it doing DE at RFP? I am hoping to find a donor locally, but we may end up having to go through the US bank. Any new info? Were they good to deal with for it?

Hi all -- I'm considering using eggs from MyEggBank at RFP. I was wondering if someone who has done this at RFP could let me know what the costs were all said and done, and if you were satisfied with the process. If you got a BFN, would you try again?

We did a donor cycle at RFP in May 2017. Successful. Currently 18w pregnant. Costs were about $25,000 Canadian total but largely depend on the US exchange rate when you purchase eggs. Hope that helps!
