Is anyone from Alberta doing an IVF cycle at Olive?  Just curious about logistics.  I was told monitoring couldn't be done here so I'd have to stay in Vancouver for most of the cycle.

I'm in BC, but I have read about patients from out of town needing to stay in Vancouver for those few weeks.  Good luck!

We cycled at Olive (I am from BC though--SE BC). We were able to use a satellite clinic (we use Kelowna Regional Fertility) to do our monitoring before going to Vancouver for the retrieval/transfers. We live 4 hours from Kelowna so the daily bloods/scans were a pain in the butt. Once we got to Vancouver for retrieval, we stayed till transfer. OUCH!!!!! The hotel bill was outrageous but I guess you have to expect that when your there for a week. I would look into renting a place for a month, it would be much cheaper than hotels in that area.

Yes, we cycled there from AB. And yes, you'll have to do everything there because no clinic in AB will allow you monitoring unless you cycle with them. I think we were in Vancouver for about 2 weeks total. You have to fly there on day 3 or 4 of injections (for the first blood work). And then it depends how long you stim for/what day you transfer etc.

Sorry, I've been away from the boards for awhile.  Merry33 - If you don't mind me asking, where did you stay?  We were thinking that the actual stay itself might add up to $4,000 or more for two weeks.

We stayed at 2 different places. First one was 911 beach ave apartment hotel, the other one was Robson suites. They both have weekly rates and we definitely didn't spend 4k. I believe we paid just below 2k for 2 weeks.

Hi I am from Alberta too and am with Olive fertility, if anyone else has more information let me know!
So non of the ultrasounds can be done at a private clinic in the area?? Would I be there for possibly 10 days before retrieval and up to 6-7 days after?

can't answer about the u/s possibly being done at a private clinic in alberta.  For the cycle, you'll likely need to be there for 12 days before ER, it depends on your response to the meds, 10 days is a little short for the long protocol (unless you only need to be there starting from the time you need u/s then it would be about 9-10 days).  You should be getting a calendar from Olive to let you know when you need to be there.  And yes, I would budget 6-7 days after.

You'll have to ask RFP or the Edmonton clinic, but we were told no. You can't just go to EFW as Olive needs the result the same day.
