Hellooo! Is anyone out there?

I'm considering cycling at TCART and wondering if anyone else here is and what your experiences have been thus far?

I too am interested. I called the general Toronto location and had a message back today saying if testing at a clinic is within the last year TCART will take you on and not repeat tests. Im considering this as another cycle of IVF would be completely charged on credit again (like the last one) and if this is safe and not lower chances of success overall, it may be a good step for us.

Hi ladies, I am at TCART right now. I am doing my first IVF and had my retrival on Aug 21st. It went well and now I have 14 perfect looking embryos waiting for transfer. I am with Dr. Bentov who I really like. I have heard mixed opinions about him and that some did not like his bedside manner. Dr. Bentov was the first dr who actually took time to look at my case and sent me for lots of tests to figure out what is my cause of infertility. He is not one of those drs who smile lots and is very talkative but he went very deep into resolving my issue and that what counts for me. He was very nice to us on retrival day, came over to say hello and we even made few jokes back and forth. Nurses are nice and my assigned nurse always promptly followed up any messages I have left. "My" nurse on ER day was very nice and warm. I do not care about the clinic's front desk staff as they seem cold and no emotions whatsoever. The young girl on the morning of my ER was unpleasant but my hubby was able to convince me not to worry and think about that. TCART has a great embryo freezing technique and great technology. Embryologist was very pleasant and always called as promised. I am waiting to hear if I can do my fet in September. Dr. Bentov advised me to wait with transfer as I hyperstymulated and had OHSS. I appreciated his decision as I would transfer right away and be dissapointed for sure. So over all it was a good experience even though I had to warm up to the clinic. I'm sorry for such a long message but I hope it helps you ladies. All the best to you.

Thanks for sharing momme2be. I have found TCART to be quite good thus far, and have received much better care there than I have anywhere else. This ranges across *most* doctors, admin staff and the phlebotomists. Admin staff have gone the extra mile to respond to queries and schedule appointments. etc. etc. I agree that I have encountered 2 admin staff who seem rather unpleasant but that has been par for the course  in physician's offices so I am just lucky that I have mostly dealt with the kinder staff.

Thanks for your detailed input, ladies!

How long have you found the process from initial phone call to a cycle? (if your tests are current and you are wanting to proceed quickly) If you don't mind me asking :)

Clairey, it was rather fast progress from phone call to the IVF cycle and if your tests are up to date you should be good to go on your next cycle.
I am going for my FET on Mon, Sep 22. Soooo nervous. Good luck to you :)

I had been going to Mt. Sinai for IUI when we decided to switch to IVF, didn't like my Drs answers to some questions so we started looking at other clinics. I met Dr. Chang on cd6 and next period we started my IVF.  He is just the warmest and friendliest guy on earth. He gave us his email address which I am sure I have used to bother him waay too much. He will push you do to what he thinks is best, in my case freezing all the embryos and doing a FET later, but he always says he will do whatever I want.

I don't really like my nurse though, she just isn't very friendly. And I have never had a problem with the reception staff they have always been very nice to me.

Hi 2young,

I have actually found TCART to be quite quick overall with most things, but I guess it depends on which doctor you have and what procedures you are having done.  One piece of advice I have is keep bugging them!  I hope things speed up for you.

As for adding your history, here is what you need to do:

Go up to the top of the page and click the little arrow right beside your login name.

Then click on "My Settings".

Then click on "Signature" which is on the left side of the screen part way down.

Then add whatever information you want.

Click Save at the bottom.

Voila!  Your signature (or history) will now show at the bottom of your posts.

Good luck!

Hi all,

My hubby and I experience a miscarriage (blighted ovum) in April this year :( It has been 6 months since and nothing.  My doctor has referred us to TCART.  I'm just wondering if someone can tell me what will happen at the first appointment/consultation.

Hi Stine,

I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

I hope you will have a good experience at TCART.  It has been a very long time since my first appointment there but from what I can remember, you will meet with the doctor to discuss your concerns and review any medical records sent over from your referring doctor.  You might be given a requisition for blood work depending on what you have already had done, and they might do an internal ultrasound to check your uterus/ovaries (so be prepared for this just in case).  They will then make some recommendations about next steps and give you information about how the procedures work.

Good luck to you!
