Hope this poll works. Any ladies out there who know this info and would like to share that would be great. Remember this is before you started the ivf process. I want to see if the various levels impact the outcome of ivf.

Thnx lola

Hi Lola,
Can you please explain a little bit what is considered a day 1?
Is that day 1 before you start steems? Sort of 14 days before ER?
I do not remember my numbers from my failed cycle, nor did I know that they are able to see any folies at that point :dontknow:
But if I know what it is, I would ask the next time!
I will be starting Puregon in about 10 days...
Thanks a lot!

Do you feel the numbers make a difference in the end result? My numbers were great at the beginning of my clomid challenge test, and then on day 7 my numbers didn't go up as much as the doc would like them too. Said my eggs were "getting old". Ok, so I am 38, and I do not consider that being old. But I suppose, with everyone, we all go thru menopause at different ages and all. The doc doesn't feel that I am starting menopause, just that my egg quality is getting weak. But meds can help that. When we did IVF, we had great embies. Wonderful ones--top notch. The best that a persons could wish for. But unfortunetly, we ended up with a m/c. I am not sure what I did wrong or what happened, but I just figure that something wasn't in the cards for us, and that God intended for this to happen, to make our marriage stronger. I feel that this year is our year, and this will be our time to have a baby. OUr little miracle will happen this year. I am optimistic and positive.

I am sending lots of baby dust to all of you!!!!

I have no idea how fsh and number of follicles are linked - anyone know? I have a day 3 fsh of 7 and only 4 antral follicles in one ovary 0 in the other??

Diagnosed with endometrosis at age 19

5 pelvic surgeries

2 IVF, numerous FETs

2 different gestational carriers

Now mother of 2 year old twins.

You FSH level can be associated with your ovarian reserve - meaning how many follicles you have remaining. We were born with a certain number of follicles and that number continues to decline as we age. For some of us, the rate of decline is faster - this can sometimes be associated with a high FSH level. Your FSH level can also be indication of the quality of your eggs - high FSH level means your ovaries are working harder at producing follicles, hence your egg quality is not what it once was. One thing to bear in mind is that we always have to look at our FSH levels in relation to our estradiol level. They go hand-in-hand. If your FSH level is within the normal range but your estradiol level is elevated beyond the normal range then this can be an indication that your ovaries are working harder at producing follicles. I believe that all doctor's when they test for Day 3 FSH test your estradiol level at the same time.

Hope this helps!
Me: 31
Dh: 33
TTC: 3.5 yrs
Cause: Unexplained - all tests came back "normal"
6 cycles BD'd w/ fertility meds - 2 of those cycles were combined w/ IUI's - all 6 cycles were BFN
RE suspected MF - thought that sperm were not able to penetrate the egg
IVF#1 combined with ICSI - short protocol began taking meds CD 3
Stimmed w/ suprefact and puregon
8 eggs were retrieved - 3 of which were immature
3 eggs were done w/ ICSI - all fertilized
other 2 eggs were left to fertilize normally- both fertilized
1 embryo stopped developping second day after retrieval
2 embryo's were rated "good" quality and other 2 embryo's were of "poor" quality
decision was made to transfer all 4 on day 3 after retrieval - cycle ended in BFN
IVF#2 planned for jan or feb
RE recommends we try the long protocol where begin taking meds CD 21

My doc checked on day 3 and again on day 10, this was after my clomid challenge test. My numbers wer Awesome on day 3, but on day 10, they were elevated some, not drastic, but my doc stated that it was doable, and that we could get pregnant anyways. Ok, well, we did get preg. but ended with a m/c.

I am doing so much lurking around, researching and trying to figure all of this out. See what other docs do compared to my doc. One will never know if we do not ask or search.

I just had my CD3 blood work and U/S done again yesterday.

E2 (don't know number, but she said was great)

Left ovary 14 follies
Right ovary 6

I have read that under 11 total is not great. But I am pretty new to these numbers....LOL.

Guess we'll have to wait and see...

Don't know what all these mean in the big scheme of things (are they good numbers? poor?) but here goes:

Estrogen 95.1
LH 0.305
Progesterone 4.29
FSH 7.30
12 follicles

Anybody know if, based on age, these are decent or at least average numbers?

Thanks to all!

Hey Nickster - a little late responding, but these sound like good numbers to me. I initially had Estrogen of 224, which was over the clinic's top recommended level, and FSH of 5.66 (I think). Then, did acupuncture and changed diet... Estrogen down to 150, so a little better, and FSH went to 6.9. My AFC was 9.

Good luck with that Beta! Sounds like you have some nice Embies in there! :)

Has anyone found a reliable source of information on E2 levels (monitoring) in Canada? I think, from what I've read, that I should be calculating my own numbers as 1000pmol/L PER mature follicle (16+mm)? Is this correct? (ie. U/S shows 8 follicles over 16mm means E2 #s should be +/- 8000pmol)?

Just want to be able to gauge how I'm doing with my E2 levels this time around...as last time they dropped (resulting in a cancelled IVF).

Thanks for any advice!

Kenny&Footy- I belive 1000 per follicle is ideal (so they say). When I did my cycle, I had 4 follicles and my E2 levels were never much above 2000, and then 2 days before my scheduled retrival my E2 levels plummetted, the DR called me immidiately suggesting we cancel and turn it into iui-but offerring us the option to proceed-which we chose to do-after 18 days of max drugs we were in too deep!- (I believe my E2 level was 800+)Anyways, my 4 follicles all fertilized, and made 2 top grade embryos-resulting in a healthy twin pregnancy! My 22 month old girls are proof that low E2 levels can still result in babies!!

No - I think most REs don't want their patients worrying or obsessing so they don't provide that info. Legally though it is your right to have that information. Under PHIA the healthcare provider is only the holder of your personal info. If you request it they must disclose it to you.
