my first ivf is just failed and I wonder if anyone has tried acupunture and has pregnancy after acupuncture? I have found one in unionvill, positive chinese medicine. I wonder  if anyone has been in there? I greatly appreciate any comments.

I did acupuncture during my successful IVF cycle. I'm not sure if that contributed to the success but I really tried to do things that time around I had dismissed before as "airy-fairy" things that might contribute to success. I was feeling desperate and realized, no regrets. You just never know and now that I've found this site, there are a lot of people with great suggestions of things to try that really could assist, acupuncture being one of them. I would definitely give it a try if you have found a reputable place where the acupuncturist has knowledge and background in treating infertility.

Yes, I did acupuncture leading up to what would have been my 3rd ivf cycle. I was told that I had poor egg quality and so my naturopath/acupuncturist concentrated on points that would help me with that. I did it for 3 months prior to what would have been the cycle start. I ended up with a natural bfp and the baby stuck (continued acupuncture, concentrating on points that were to help the pregnancy along, until about 17 or 18 weeks if I remember correctly). After 3 miscarriages, I was willing to try anything and everything for the best shot at a live birth.

Whether or not the acupuncture contributed to my success I will never really know (I also changed a lot of other things). But I know it didn't hurt. If anything, it helped me relax (I would fall asleep during every appointment!), feel rejuvenated and less stressed, and make sure that I put aside some "me time" every week. It was awesome.

Unfortunately I used a practitioner in Calgary so I am unable to help you with the second part or your question.

Best of luck to you!

I do acupuncture a couple times a month. I brought on regular cycles for me.
My acupuncturist and my naturopath recommended doing gluten free and dairy free in the weeks leading up to my IVF cycle to limit inflammation in my body and some even do sugar free. Also take lots of fish oil to aid in implantation.

I did acupuncture three hours after my transfer on Monday. I have three more appointments. For both aid in implantation but also to help relax. This is my third IVF cycle and so it's quite stressful. I just want this to work!

Sweetsummer - I was told that I had poor egg quality and so I also did a lot to try to make sure that I attempted to give us our best shot, on top of acupuncture. I took quite a few supplements - omega, vitamin D, coq10, and DHEA. I also cut out sugar (damages cells) gluten (can be inflammatory and inhibit implantation), dairy (the same as gluten), and increased protein (cells need protein to grow) as advised my my naturopath. I did this for 3 months as well...

I would suggest seeking out a naturopath. I found that the suggestions and ideas she had for helping egg quality issues were spot on....from my first appointment, I found that she was very knowledgable with the ivf process and reproductive issues and so I had no problem taking her suggestions.

Good luck to you!

Dear Rokgerl,
Thanks for your note.
My dr told me that my eggs are in good quality that's why I feel so much pain why why the embryos didn't stick.
However I guess that is a good idea to even improve egg quality why not. I am taking coq10 and fish oil and D3, but not DHEA. I have heard about royal jelly, maca, wheatgrass which I am going to ask my Dr on 29 th.
I like to do my second in June so almost 3 months I will go to acupuncture, of course hopefully :)
Have you started your new ivf yet or not?
Take care and best of luck please be in touch

SweetSummer: I haven't had another IVF cycle since starting acupuncture but I did a lot of research on it and there have been some pretty amazing outcomes so I definitely think it's worth a try. I started seeing a nautropath after my first failed IVF cycle and my eggs were mutating, they didn't say I had poor egg quality but they are treating me like that to see if this will improve the outcome so at least some of my eggs are viable this time around. I was told that the vitamins and acupuncture should be started at least three months prior to starting another cycle. I am also taking CoQ10 and fish oil among other vitamins and have been going to get acupuncture once a week. This will go down to around once every couple of weeks until we start stimming again and then I will go once a week to see if this helps. I have also tried royal jelly I was on that for months while TTC on my own and with IUI. I will say that although royal jelly is not good if you are pregnant. I didn't take it for the first 3 IUI cycles and they were all normal response and the 3 I did take it for ( I had 5-6 follicles each time) all cycles I used the same drugs at the same dosage. Good Luck to you in your journey! and enjoy the acupuncture!

Hi Bourne Erin
Thanks for the message.
I finally met with my Dr and apparently there was nothing wrong with my eggs. He gave my hubby vitamins. For my case none of the tensing eggs survived for freezing so I have to pay full amount which is too much for the second round.
I bought royal jelly yesterday it is sort of like honey I haven't started eating. How much did you eat?
I also bought wheatgrass and planning to add one tea spoon in my juice! I will call acupuncture in markham facility which I guess I the closest to me. Well as you said it worth a try. I will probably have my second round in June or July so I have time to use royal jelly and wheatgrass. I am taking co q 10 but the normal one the one which was stronger have me rash. Also I am taking fish oil and D3 1000 iui.
My doctor suggested endometrial scratch/ biopsy apparently increase the success rate but it is very painful . I told him I am willing to try everything because if again no eggs remain we definitely can't try anymore due to financial burden :(
Please keep me posted. We can support each other :) when is your next Ivf cycle?
Take care. Wish you the best of luck

Just a side note, if you don't like the honey-like Royal Jelly it also comes in a capsule. I take one of those a day. And got it at acupuncture!

I did Acupuncture in one of my FET cycle's but it wasn't a proper IVF acupuncture protocol & it failed.

I switched practitioners & this one did an actual proper, structured regime & I got pregnant on that cycle.

I also did a fresh transfer which probably helped!

Dear barbikins,
Thanks for your message. That's great :)
I have started acupuncture. She seems to have knowledge about Ivf, there are some testimonial in her website. and my next cycle is in July. From the previous one there is no freeze embryos and this one in July will be freesh transfer.
I also have started royal jelly 1 tea spoon, wheat grass powder1 tea spoon, and DHEA 25 mg 3 times daily. How you used any one of them? If yes when did you stop taking them?
Wish you all the best
Take care

Sweetsummer, I did the whole gamut of herbal diets (friends said it worked for them) - did nothing for us; ovulation calendar, special rituals, maca root, ginseng, etc, etc, and lastly DH and I had acupuncture for months (including some Chinese herbals) to improve his sperm and to improve my uterus and any inflammation - all for naught; cost us a small fortune. I do know that my first IVF I was tense and wanting it to work so badly that time - BFN!!! with 4 embys transferred! At my second IVF (this time DE), a fellow cycler told me to ask for diazepam which helps to calm you, relax your uterus, and give you an overall sense of relaxation. I was totally relaxed and euphoric. Now, I'm not sure if that was what helped me, but it was the first BFP I had ever gotten, only to lose both twins at 8 weeks. Determined to give it one very last go since we had been trying for 9 years, we did DE IVF again and I requested diazepam to relax me. Doctor was obliging and I was totally relaxed through the procedure and after. BFP!!!! - beautiful DS arrived July 2013; perfect in every way.

Dear baby boy finally :)
Thanks for your message.
Fist of all congrats :) wow you have had a quite journey !!!
Well, I try to do my best because this is our second but will be our last chance. We can't afford paying even one more cycle. Therefore, for this cycle, my second cycle, I am willing to try everything.
You mentioned diazepam, I wonder if you can tell me when and how long you took it? What was the dosage?
I will tell my dr and see what he says!!!
Anything makes us relax I guess would be beneficial :)
Thanks again fir your note and have a great weekend dear

Hi SweetSummer,

You don't need a lot - one 10 mg pill about half an hour before the procedure. Be careful and make sure your DH or someone is next to you should you need to walk to the procedure room & back to recovery. The Diazepam will make you relaxed and for some quite sleepy, so always have someone close by for support. The first time I took it, I actually fell asleep after the procedure and slept for an hour in the recovery bed (in clinic in Zlin they did not have you walk to and from procedure)! The second IVF I was relaxed but did not fall asleep. DH was by my side when I walked to the procedure room & back to recovery lounger. DH escorted me out of building to car, relaxed and hopeful. When I got home, i laid down and slept for an hour. If you still feel a little anxious, a 2nd dose does not hurt, but generally speaking, a one-time dose is usually all you need. When I was in Zlin, they gave me a 10-pill packet; the remaining pill packet still lurking somewhere in my vast medicine cabinet... hahaha. I actually used pills from that same packet for my 2nd DE IVF which was done here in Canada not in Zlin - doctor approved me taking it; saying if it helped me relax then she was okay with it, just not to stay on them as they can be habit-forming.

Hi again,
Thanks for the quick reply :)
My dr told me if I scared of ET I can take one, but in my previous one I was very relax and comfortable! But really the 2 weeks waiting was brutal!! So I guess I will take one when I come home :) I guess I have to do acupuncture immediately after my ET too!!!
Well my period just arrived and I have to start birthcontrol and will meet my dr on Sunday. Let's see what he will say!!
Take care dear and have a great sunny weekend :)
