I just received a BFN today after my first FET, I was devastated.... But then I thought I should try to get proactive for my next cycle..... I am about 30-40lbs overweight according to the bmi charts. I gained a lot after initial ivf in August due to ohss, I gained about 20-25 lbs and I lost about 12-14 of that and then fell into a slump because the cycle was cancelled and other health concerns.

My next cycle will not be this time, rather the next so I'm thinking I have about 30-40 days depends if I get my next AF on time ( I have pcos so that rarely happens lol)

Anyways... After writing a book so far the reason I'm writing this is because I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for improving my health in this time... (Weight loss ideas, detoxes, alternative medicine, etc, etc...). Any suggestions are welcomed.

Me- PCOS- diagnosed when 14ishDH- 100% normal
Married 2009
Took a year "off" before TTC - ha ha hind sight is a wonderful thing!
Talked to the doctor about PCOS( as he was not the one who diagnosed me with it originally)-- wanted us to ttc naturally for a year before fertility treatments.

2011- 2012- sent to RFP for a consult. Suggested to go on clomid, went on clomid for numerous cycles. Nothing was happening, phoned to get on IVF waiting list, doc told me to stay on clomid because it was working for me, just might take a little more time. (He said this without ever monitoring me). Went back to family doctor and he suggested

VFC2013-- phone consult with VFC, decided to do IVF

August 2013- Severe OHSS, all embryos frozen- 10 in total
November- 2013- set to do first FET, estrace didn't make lining thick enough and also breast lump was found (benign, but still monitoring) so cycle was cancelled.

February 2014- FET #1- BFN
April 2014- FET #2- BFN
July 2014- FET#3- BFN.......

Mock cycle to do an ERA test and do another FET if ERA comes back good.
ERA test done on Nov. 13th- results came back Receptive- thats good news i guess.... still no answers as why the previous 3 FETS didnt work

December 2014-
FET#4- BFN
Wtf appointment- doctor thinks DH and I are too genetically similar and therefore my body rejects the embryo and the NK cells take over.

January 2015- immune testing- dh and I are a partial match meaning 1 out of 4 embryo will not implant and I have high NK cells. Trying another transfer. Gluten free 12 weeks, intralipids 10 days prior to ET, and also day of ET. Prednisone and estrace.
March 19- intralipid treatment
March 29- transferred 1 grade 17 embryo using assisted hatching and more intralipids

April 10th - BETA - BFP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In total shock!

My acupuncturist and naturopath recommended going gluten and dairy free in the weeks leading up to transfer. I also have pcos and find that acupuncture brings on semi regular cycles rather than 9 mos between them like before. I also started doing yin yoga and easy yoga and my last three cycles have been 28,28 and 25 days.

Me - now 36 Him - 37
Trying to conceive since our wedding day May 25, 2008.
Started Clomid Jan-April 2012.
Referred to RFP June 2012.
First consult at RFP November 2012.
First IVF cycle on antagonist protocol (GonalF, Luveris) January 2013.
Transferred two day-3 embryos, had severe OHSS, lost one twin between 7-13 weeks but was expecting one little one October 2013.
Found out at 6 mos that our little one had died weeks earlier and had to induce and deliver stillborn, July 25, 2013.
Something found on adrenal gland at follow up ultrasound, MRI showed what seems to be a benign tumor. Meeting with specialist Jan 8, 2014 - all fertility treatments on hold. :/
Tumour is definitely producing Aldosterone (causes high blood pressure) and Cortisol. Lucky me, only 34 similar cases recorded in the world! Tumour removed May 2014.
Approached about a possible adoption March 2014. Rush through all the paperwork and process.
Charlotte Evangeline born June 27, 2014. We brought her home on July 7 and held our breath for 10 days until she officially became ours.
Surprise BFP October 2014. Due to wonky cycles, ultrasounds convince Doctors I have a blighted ovum but detailed ultrasound reveals heartbeat at 6w3d. On progesterone support and waiting to see if pregnancy is still viable. Holding our breath again.

farmgirl - I understand. I struggle with the healthy eating during stress. My goal is to get back on the bandwagon asap. I'm starting by cutting down on the sugar (or should I just say chocolate haha)

I also do hatha and yin yoga and try to add meditiation in when I can.

I did a cleanse back in November before we started treatment. I lost 10 lbs on it and that wasn't even following the meal plan exactly. I'm not sure if the RE would recommend a cleanse so close to FET though?

I also have started juicing a bit. Need to learn more about it though.

Have you decided on an approach yet?

I've been trying to cut out wheat and carbs as much as I can but I'm a carb-a-holic. It's soooo hard, I try to do my first two meals without carbs and then have some at supper. This has helped I'm down 4 lbs in just a week, been trying to do some more exercising but I find it so hard cause I lose all my motivation after I get home from work.

What kind of cleanse did you do? Ya I probably wouldn't do a cleanse now, but in case the FET doesn't work maybe next time I could try it!

Do you do the yoga at home or do you take classes?

I'm interested in the juicing as I've heard that it works for people, I just don't know enough about it!

Farmgirl19 - good job! 4 lbs is great!
My husband and I are currently doing weight watchers online (have done it before, years ago). Gives us something to do during the waiting game for us. My weight was on the higher end of the normal range/BMI. I have lost 12.5 lbs so far and hoping to lose another 11 lbs. I want to be prepared if we do end up doing IVF in the summer. it helps me get peace of mind that we've done everything possible if we end up having a failed cycle.
My dad has Celiac so I am going to get tested in a few weeks. I don't have any symptoms but obviously don't want another thing hampering our fertility.
I hear you, I am totally a carboholic too! (Funny, my ipad just auto corrected that to carbon lilac).

Me - 33, PCOS
DH - 38, Male factor

April 2012 - Started TTC #1

pPROM @ 35 weeks and our baby babygirl.gif made her early appearance on July 26, 2015

July 2015 - Phone consultation with clinic to look at doing a FET towards the end of the year

August 2015 - Natural BFP??  th_abfp.gif  We are in shock!  Ultrasound at clinic confirms I was already 9 weeks pregnant and had NO IDEA!

4 is a start for sure :) good for you for losing 12.5 pounds, that's an awesome number. My biggest thing is motivation, I find it so hard, my husband is fairly skinny and eats what he wants, and rarely eats veggies and fruits so when he's beside me eating chips it's difficult to eat something healthy! I really like weight watchers, I was on it in. 2005 and I lost 30 pounds and it wasn't hard to do so.... I find south beach so hard that's why I'm not following it completely, just using some of the guidelines.

Good luck on the last 11 pounds, you can do it!! I hope all goes well with the celiac testing. Losing weight is a great wa to feel better about the whole process and ya it would give piece of mind with ivf!

I'm lucky as my husband is kind of doing the diet along with me. It would definitely be more difficult for me if my husband wasn't doing it. He likes to snack a lot.

I just got AF, so ill be going for my u/s to check my lining, so I'll have a better idea after that..... But if my lining is good and the fet is a go I'm assuming April 22, just based on my fet timeline last time. Keeping my fingers crossed and getting anxious!
