Hello Dr. Said,
My husband has a low sperm count due to a vasectomy reversal and we have been trying to conceive for 5 years now with no luck. I read that "fertilaid" might help with his sperm count\quality. Do you recommend this product? Thank you!

Me: 36
DH: 45
TTC: 5 years
-10 Failed IUI's
-Dec. 2011 IVF#1 - 10 eggs retrieved, only 6 mature
-4 successfully fertilized
-Dec. 2011- IVF#1 transferred 2 grade A embryo's - BFN
-Froze last 2 Embryo's
-March 2012 - FET, only one survived, did assisted hatching - BFN
Next step- cycle review with Dr. to see why my cycles failed
-Dr. said "no known reason" and suggests trying IVF again.
-Scheduling a Hysterscopy first before we go any further
-dec. 2012, laparoscopy and d and c, found left ovary stuck to bowel
-ttc naturally for year
-February 2014 natural iui, bfn

-July 2014 natural iui, perfect looking cycle - BFN :(cry.gif

DH used it for a month and we conceived naturally that month, after trying for a year. It won't hurt, and i think it's worth a try.

I also took the female fertilaid.

Hi rubiyana - I'm sorry you're struggling to conceive - you'll find lots of company here fortunately/unfortunately.  I presume your GP has indicated you should wait 6 months to proceed because you are under 30?

Please note this is not an active thread and you won't likely receive a response to your question from Dr. Said.  This being said - Fertilaid is essentially a vitamin mix.  It would be wise to discuss any supplements you're taking with your treating physician in the event they might negatively impact your health.

Good luck to you!

That would be why your GP counselled you to wait another 6 months. Have you been tracking your basal body temps and confirmed that you're ovulating?

Have you ever read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler?  If not - it's an excellent place to begin.  The information I got from her extremely helpful book about tracking cycles, basal body temperature, cervical mucus, etc was what allowed me to take in many charts to by GP to speed up the process of getting referred for help.

Thought I don't necessarily recommend what I did...this is how I sped up my investigations...

1)  Knew I wasn't ovulating because of charting

2)  Took numerous charts into GP to show that I wasn't ovulating...and lied and told him we'd been trying for 12 months despite the fact I had been in 3 months early saying I had only quit bcp 3 months prior to that and wasn't ovulating.  GP never noticed interesting interpretation of factual events.

3)  GP referred to IVF clinic and sent off for blood work.  Bloodwork came back with anemic levels of iron...was started on iron supplements and started ovulating within the month.

4)  Ovulation occured too late in the cycle to be viable but with a combination of accupuncture & time on iron started clockwork CD14 ovulation.

5)  Never got an LH surge on those tests until the day of ovulation.  :)

Good luck!
