Hi guys, I'm just curious on when everyone was comfortable to start back up again? I have had 2 miscarriages and out of those we have had 3 fresh and 5 FET. This is my 6th and received my BFP 11dp5dt. I'm now 16dp5dt approximately 5 weeks 1 day. My u/s isn't till the 20th and I have been wanting to and dreaming about it. But I'm pretty sure we will wait till after u/s but how long?

A lot of clinics say wait until after the HB, some say it doesn't matter, I have had many m/c's as well so always wait until at least after the HB U/S. Better safe than sorry, although with all the meds we are on it's not always easy.

Congrats on your bfp!

Stacy

I would agree with Stacy and wait until the ultrasound. Congratulations on your BFP

My clinic said it is ok to go ahead with sex after we saw the beta double, however if you start spotting and it will cause you a lot of anxiety, you should wait a while longer.  I figure the path of least regret would be to wait until your ultrasound......

DH has already told me that we won't be having sex until 2 months after this baby is born. Lol
He's crazy paranoid that something will happen. I would definitely wait until after your u/s.
Me, personally, will wait until the end of the first trimester. I know it seems like a long time but I don't want to risk anything.
It will take some convincing on DH's part. I may have to get my OB to reassure him that it's ok. :-)

Amys congratulations on your bfp. I think it's a personal decision based upon your own situation and what you're comfortable with. We didn't wait for any particular day with our fet. We definitely are not as active as before, but we continued even before I got beta ( had already gotten bfp on hpt). Good luck with your pregnancy!

We waited until I was 10 weeks, but that was because I wanted to wait until I was done the progesterone suppositories, simply because with a goopy mess there, did not put me in any kind if mood. However I did ask my RE after my 3rd beta result and his reply was to go ahead as long as I was comfortable and had no cramping, but reminded me that I was already pregnant, so sex wasn't necessary ; )

After our successful FET we waited until the 2nd trimester. We were both just too afraid to screw it up.  This time around we will probably do the same, haven't talked to DH about it yet.  :)

I'm super confused by this subject as well.  I was told 'no sex' after the transfer, but not given a date to commence.  The progesterone suppositories don't really make me feel like it would be awesome anyways, and I don't know when I'm to come off those.  I've read a few things that indicate my clinic may prefer that I continue with abstaining until the heartbeat ultrasound.  I guess I'll find out in a few days after a nurse calls me back.

Awkward question, is the concern with sex more because of female orgasm contractions, or something else...?

Meary in my case with my fresh cycle we were told no sex during 2ww because of the risk of infection. With our fet, we were given no restrictions but we did wait until I got a bfp. Unless there is some medical reason why a couple can't resume, I think it's more fear of messing anything up after trying so hard which is understandable.

Ya for us it would be the fear of messing it up. I know it's perfectly normal but our situations aren't as normal. So I'm pretty sure we will and for sure till I'm done the prometrium cause it is a yucky mess.

I would have looked at the Re and said "well apparently for us sex isn't necessary at any time so now we just do it for fun, and boy do we have a lot of fun" ;)
We barely had sex at all last year but between the hospitalization for OHSS, being severely nauseous while pregnant and then the miscarriage it's understandable. We made up for it in the fall, lol.

Me - now 36 Him - 37
Trying to conceive since our wedding day May 25, 2008.
Started Clomid Jan-April 2012.
Referred to RFP June 2012.
First consult at RFP November 2012.
First IVF cycle on antagonist protocol (GonalF, Luveris) January 2013.
Transferred two day-3 embryos, had severe OHSS, lost one twin between 7-13 weeks but was expecting one little one October 2013.
Found out at 6 mos that our little one had died weeks earlier and had to induce and deliver stillborn, July 25, 2013.
Something found on adrenal gland at follow up ultrasound, MRI showed what seems to be a benign tumor. Meeting with specialist Jan 8, 2014 - all fertility treatments on hold. :/
Tumour is definitely producing Aldosterone (causes high blood pressure) and Cortisol. Lucky me, only 34 similar cases recorded in the world! Tumour removed May 2014.
Approached about a possible adoption March 2014. Rush through all the paperwork and process.
Charlotte Evangeline born June 27, 2014. We brought her home on July 7 and held our breath for 10 days until she officially became ours.
Surprise BFP October 2014. Due to wonky cycles, ultrasounds convince Doctors I have a blighted ovum but detailed ultrasound reveals heartbeat at 6w3d. On progesterone support and waiting to see if pregnancy is still viable. Holding our breath again.
Adalyn Marie born on June 9, 2014 after a roller coaster pregnancy.
