I am new in Genesis. Next month I will do IVF. I need advises. Is that painful in whole procedure?

Thanks so much.

It varies from person to person.   Each of us a slightly different response to it.  I found it uncomfortable because I got so bloated at the end but it wasn't awful.  The egg retrieval felt like a visit to the dentists office for me.   One way to look at it, it won't be nearly as painful as giving birth :-)

Hi dkyxtt,

For me IVF was uncomfortable, at times quite uncomfortable, but not painful.  There are a lot of needle pokes and they start to get old very fast.  They give you pain control +/- sedation for egg retrieval.    For me it was unpleasant, they are poking a needle in rather delicate places, but I have certainly experienced worse pain and it was over relatively quickly.  I can say that If things don't work out for me I could go through the exact same process again without anxiety about pain.

Good luck on your journey!

I found the needles to be a walk in the park. You get used to them after a while. Egg retrieval was torturous for me but primarily because it apparently hurts more to retrieve immature follicles. I couldn't have any kind of sedation because I am asthmatic and the Anesthaesiologist wasn't present. I think ER would have been much more bearable otherwise. The bloating afterwards was uncomfortable, but not the end of the world.

I didn't find IVF painful; more uncomfortable. I was good till one of our final scans before retrieval. I developed lots of follicles and had mild ohss so I was very bloated and uncomfortable after retrieval. The worst part of it for me was the transfer. The full bladder and nurse pushing too hard on my stomach during the scan; was the worst but only lasted a few minutes.

I found the worst part of the whole process; the hurry up and wait. Good luck with your cycle next month.
