We had our first consultation appointment at PCRM on August 1st with Dr. Seethram. It was decided that our best course of action would be to do a tubal ligation (one completely blocked tube, have had 2 ectopics in the other) then proceed with IVF. I was put on the wait list for lap surgery and was told that the list wasn't too long and it would happen "in the Fall". I was kind of expecting to be called with a surgery date by now. We were really hoping to do IVF before Christmas (I will start suppression with birth control on the day of surgery) but if I haven't even been called for surgery yet I am thinking the chances of IFV happening this year are slim sad.png. Has anyone gone through this process with PCRM? If so, how long did you have to wait for surgery? Also, how long before the actual surgery date did you get a call? Any chance I could still get a surgery date in October?? Waiting is the hardest!! th_aggahhh.gif

I'm not sure about PCRM specifically, but I find when booking a surgery being proactive and calling once in a while helps. The clinic where I had my surgery had forgot to add my name to the list and it was only by being persistent that my file was pulled and I was brought to the front of the line. Getting on a cancellation list if they offer it is also an option.

Finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

I agree with Ilovemydog I called to verify why I haven't received a letter for the waitlist for lap and found out my name was never placed on there, nor a referral to urologist! Definitely be proactive. It is a 3-4 month wait in Saskatoon.

Thanks for the advice, ladies! I guess I feel bad about calling the clinic. Like I'd be bothering them or something and they'll say "we told you we would call you." But I think I will take your advice and call anyway. I'm sure they get these sort of calls all the time!

I used to feel bad until things went wrong a couple of times. In the end, you are the only one truly looking out for yourself. I just say that I'm following up to see where they are in the process.

Thanks again for the advice! I took it and called the clinic yesterday. I was told I am the first person on the list for surgery so as soon as something becomes available I'll be called. The bad part is they have no idea when that might be. She was able to tell me that it is very unlikely I will be going through IVF before Christmas because of holidays, etc. So it will be January at the earliest. While that is disappointing, it's nice to know so I can get used to the idea of going through the holidays still "waiting". February will be 1 year since we conceived our last angel. We've been waiting ever since :-(

That's about when I will be cycling for my FET - I'm having a hysteroscopy in a couple of weeks followed by a recovery time of a couple of months. Good luck to you and I hope we get to see each other on a due date board th_agl.gif

Ilovemydog - it will be nice to have a cycle buddy! I don't know why my doc isn't requiring any recovery time for me post-surgery. I am having a hysterscopy and tubal ligation and will be starting birth control in preparation for IVF that same day. I trust my doctor though and I am definitely not complaining! I don't want to wait any longer if I don't have to!! Fingers crossed we both have beginners luck! :-)

ETA: I love your username. We have a black lab that is totally our baby. That dog has snuggled me through a lot of tears over the past year and a half!

I think I have waiting time because if it's a true septum they've actually got to cut it back so there would be waiting time for the uterus to heal.

Dogs are the best :)

Thanks! The only thing that surprised me was how much time they told me to take off work for recovery. My surgery is on a Thursday. I was thinking to go back to work on Monday (I am on my feet all day but my job isn't overly demanding physically) but they recommended taking an entire week off work. I am having lap surgery as well as the hysteroscopy. Does this sound about right to everyone? Should I be expecting to be in a lot of pain? I'm not sure I'll know what to do with myself being at home doing nothing for an entire week.

Oops hit send by accident lol

I was saying I was in a decent amount of pain where it was hard to move the first 3 days after that the dr gave me a better pain killer and I was much better. Day 5 is when I started feeling pretty good and started doing things around the house. So in all it was about a week before I felt normal again. Hope your surgery went well!

NurseAshlie - thanks for the info! I haven't had my surgery yet. It's coming up on the 31st. I am so nervous!! But at the same time excited because this is the official kick-off to our IVF journey. I'm having both tubes clipped and a hysteroscopy to remove some scar tissue. If all goes well we will start IVF as soon as we are given the go ahead. I will pop back in with an update after surgery smile.png

Hi All! I'm back to report that my surgery went well and we are now officially waiting to start IVF! Woohoo!! Surgery was Thursday morning. I'm a little sore still but I'm moving around and am able to start doing things around the house again. I'm off work until Friday so will be taking it easy and letting my uterus heal as nicely as possible. I'm on estrogen for 25 days with progesterone added in from days 16-25. I'm to call the clinic on CD1 and start Marvelon on CD3. I can't believe this is finally happening!! :-) :-)
