Hi out there,

As some of you may have seen in my status update today, I just got a surprise BFP!!!!!  My period is 2 days late, so if I ovulated the day after my LH surge, that would make me 16dpo.

I have been reading online that this is a bit on the late side... Or maybe I ovulated a bit late too?  I have been testing with dollar store tests since about 12dpo and none were positive.  Anyhow, seems like there are some studies out there showing that late implantation increases risks of miscarriage.

Anybody have any good experiences with this??  I guess I'm super nervous cause my odds of getting pregnant naturally are felt to be so low, so wondering if this is really going to happen for me.

Thanks :-)

Diagnosed with DOR in October 2012

Surprise BFP October 2012! Chemical pregnancy

January 2013- decided to pursue donor egg IVF with my sister- she is diagnosed with DOR as well :-(

July 2013- decided on donor egg IVF in Europe, planning on early 2014 to give time to try naturally

Surprise BFP September 2013. Another chemical pregnancy :-( At the same time, a dear friend offers to donate her eggs to us! Her testing begins...

Surprise BFP October 2013!!!

First beta 29/10- 36

Second beta 31/10- 106, right on track!

Third beta 03/11- 277

Fourth beta 09/11- only 622... doubling time more than 3 days :-( Bracing ourselves for another miscarriage.

Fifth and final beta 12/11- 1875! Tripled in 3 days. RE wondering about ectopic...

13/11- first ultrasound- gestational sac, yolk sac and fetal pole seen! Baby measuring exactly right on for dates! We are ecstatic!!!  Too early for heartbeat so now waiting patiently for next ultrasound.

05/12- 8+6 - beautiful heartbeat of 165 heard and baby is exactly the right size (and also very photogenic).  Can't believe it!!!!!!

12/12- 9+5 - first OB appointment. New due date is July 12th by our 8 week scan. Can't believe how much baby was moving in there on the ultrasound today!!! Happy little heartbeat too.

June 17, 2014-  our little miracle baby boy born by c-section for pre-eclampsia and breech at 36 weeks!  He is so awesome.  So incredibly thankful....

Surprise BFP July 2015. Third chemical pregnancy. Ugh.

Surprise BFP August 2015.  Seems too good to be true.  Very cautious but holding out a bit of hope...

First beta 02/09 - 2811

Second beta 10/09 - 29 455

22/09 - first ultrasound at 7+5! Little baby measuring right on track with a beautiful heartbeat. Due date May 5th!

April 21, 2016 - our second miracle boy is born naturally after a c-section the first time.  What an experience… We are so thankful to the universe and feel that our family is now complete.

I also have DOR, had a late implanter and at 35w 3d am still going strong (knock wood).

There are also studies which indicate that eggs which are fertilized close to ovulation (with a normal length luteal phase of a minimum of 10 days) have a much LOWER chance of miscarriage.  This may be TMI but I know we DTD the day I ovulated (which I didn't know at the time) and my due date was actually pushed back by two days suggesting he was a late implanter.  I only got a postive the day before my period was due.  Given it sounds like you likely fertilized close to ovulation that should be a good sign.

Also, the tests don't work for some people and dollar store tests tend to need higher beta levels to become positive.  I tested the day before my period was due and my beta was only 48.

Congrats again.

I know it's hard, but *try* not to stress.  I didn't like the dollar tests when I was PG.  I never felt they were that dark.  Good luck and KUP.

Do you chart your temps? You can ovulate anywhere up to two days after your LH surge.

The dollar store brand don't seem to be popular for picking up HCG as quick as others like the First Response one.

It doesn't sound like you ovulated late to me at all! IMO, it is the brand of test you used needs a higher HCG level.

Thanks for the advice... Of course I am nervous that this is another chemical pregnancy, so I am overanalyzing everything right now. You are right MeAgain, likely it was just that the dollar store tests may not have been super accurate.

The other thing that makes me nervous is that I did one of the Clearblue digital ones that estimates conception, and it said '1-2 weeks pregnant' when I thought it might say 2-3. So could be that this little egg implanted late, or could be a chemical pregnancy.  OR it could be all totally fine!

I guess time will tell!  Thanks everyone for your support :-)
