DH and I are hoping to do a FET at Olive in the Summer/Fall 2013.  I thought I would start a thread for anyone planning to go to Olive to chat, keep in touch, support each other, ect.

So any other Olive patients out there?

LMC!

We  have switched to Olive as well. But ... it finally happened and I am 11 weeks 5 days pregnant as of today :) We were at Olive once for our 7 week ultrasound. Was so sad to say goodbye to Dr. Yuzpe. Have the hugest confidence in all the doctors and staff there and if I'm not too old, after we hopefully get a healthy baby out of this we will try again with Dr. Yuzpe.

Hope all is well with you?

Hey ladies...I was hoping an Olive thread would show up soon!  I will be doing an IVF cycle when it opens...I too wanted to follow Dr. Y.  I trust him and feel more comfortable with him (and Dr. H) than those left at Genesis.  Right now I am just waiting for my beta levels to drop to 0 (hopefully will get that call today) so I can move on from this emotionally draining FET!

Oh Breezy :( I didn't know your beta number and was hoping for the best. So sorry. Thinking of you.

I agree with you. I love Dr. Yuzpe (and Dr.'s Taylor and Hitkari are fantastic) I haven't met Dr. Fluker. But I definitely am following Dr. Yuzpe and the team! :)

Hang in there.

Lyn - Those are FANTASTIC beta numbers!  I'm so happy for you!!!  Congratulations!  I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy!  I've been keeping busy with our little one and just soaking every minute I can...who knows if a number 2 is in the cards so we make sure to treasure every moment...even the cranky ones, LOL.

mitchellcat39 - That's exciting that you have your orientation coming up!  May will be here before you know it!

Breezy - Sorry you FET didn't work. :(  We feel the same way about Dr. Y and during my treatments I also saw Dr. H and Dr. T and they were both great!  How long will you have to wait until  you can cycle after your FET?  We plan on a doing another IVF cycle if our FET doesn't work out too.  Keep us posted and I hope you are feeling less emotionally drained.

RE: Moving your embryo

This is what I know...I asked about the risk involved in moving an embryo and the RE's assured me that our embryo will be safe when it's moved over.  I'm not sure of the exact process but I would assume it would be similar to filling out the "Consent to Release" form to move your file over.  I also know that they have used Purolator for shipping embryo's (A company they said they have used for years).  I was reminded that not all embryos survive the thaw whether they are moved or not...sigh...I know this is true but I hope our one ice baby sticks!  All these fresh cycles are hard on the bank account!  If anyone find out any new information I'd love to hear it!

I'm at Olive! And new to this site and have never posted but first time for everything. I think we will be doing IVF sometime this summer and excited to see the new clinic! I'm debating whether 2 more IUI's are even worth it right now but guess it can't hurt since we can't even do IVF until June at the earliest anyways.

Hi!  I'm happy to see a thread started for Olive!

I started over at Genesis just before the split and decided to stick with my RE (Dr. H).  We're hoping to do our first IVF pretty much as soon as we can once the new clinic is ready to go.  Although I do still have a bit of weight to lose to get my BMI where they want it but I'm certainly planning on that happening by June!

izzie - we are thinking of doing a couple of IUIs while we wait as well although we're having some issues with DH's work schedule so I'm not sure it will work out.  Sometimes I wonder if moving over was the right thing to do as it is just wait, wait, wait but I really do like Dr. H.

Has anybody had one? Is it very uncomfortable? Im just waiting for the satalite clinic here in kelowna to call me to set it up.

Mitchchell- I had one done recently. Not bad at all...a bit of pressure and more uncomfortable than painful. But quick! I had a bit of tissue and a small polyp thay the removed while in there and it was no big deal.

I have my follw up appointment with Dr Y on May 4th. Looking forward to it. I go for another bloodtest tomorrow to make sure my HCG is at 0. I'm anxious to get started

Hello guys,

I had an IVF done at Genesis which resulted in my DS.  We have to decide whether to transfer our remaining embryos to Olive when we decide to do a FET.  Did any of you who had appt's already at Olive ask about their lab and how it compares to Genesis.  And what about their embryologist?  I figured with a FET, it may be easier staying at Genesis, but like most of you I dealt with Dr Y, H and T.

Tonks78 yes I am just learning about wait times! Oh my gosh! We were going to do a couple IUI with injectibles before IVF but not anymore.

LMC - I did 3 IUI with clomid, the last one 2 months ago was a M/C. Now learning about new issues and low chance of success with IUI.

This is such a great site. I've been on a couple American ones that are great but very nice to see something local and with the clinic I actually go to.

Mitchellcat- so I had my hysteroscopy yesterday and while I don't want to freak you out or anything, I will be honest. It hurt a lot. Like really bad period cramps. It lasted about 5 mins (while Dr H was looking around and getting it all set up) and then was milder for a couple of hours after the procedure. I was very happy to have DH in the room to hold my hand. I think I wasn't expecting it to hurt so that caught me a bit by surprise. But the good news is that everything looked good and I can move ahead yay!

Hey ladies,

Someone from the Genesis thread said "apparently Olive is currently reimbursing people who want to move their embryo over to the new clinic from Genesis".

Just thought that was info worth passing on for anyone with embies!

I have a follow up appintment with Dr Y on May 3rd (seems sooo far away!).  But I am feeling good and eager to try again!!  Anxiously waiting now :)

Hi everyone it's great to have this forum and I'm happy to see more of us here! I spoke with a nurse at Olive today and Dr.Y wants me to have a hysteroscopy done to check my uterus. Has anybody had one? Is it very uncomfortable? Im just waiting for the satalite clinic here in kelowna to call me to set it up.

I have had a hysteroscopy done. Actually think I've had 2! I think everyone is different. For me it was like getting a PAP. Didn't hurt and was over really quick. Hope that helps :)

Made the switch to Genesis in October of 2010
2 super ovulation w/IUI cycles

ultrasound showed lining very thick so have to have a hysteroscopy before starting IVF ...
April 2011
waiting for AF so I can book hysteroscopy. Hysteroscopy done. All looked to be fine.
May 2011
AF arrived. Started nasal spray. Yuck! Waiting again for AF to start injections. Should be the beginning of June!
June 2011
cycle cancelled due to poor response and thick uterine lining. d&c to happen before next cycle can be done.
November 2011
d&c done but lining went back to being thick. Put on Marvelon bcp for 2 months.
January 2012

Tonks let me know how it goes, I'm still waiting to hear from the clinic here in kelowna the nurse from Olive said they would contact me.

Is Dr Wise recommending Olive over Genesis now? Or did you have the option? I go to the satellite clinic in Kelowna too; but have been taking a break till we loose some weight after our failed IVF and FET cycles last year.

Also; does anyone know what the fees are like at Olive over Genesis?? Looked on their site, but doesn't seem to be on there. Also; will they be offering immune treatments for their patients or do we still have to go to Victoria for that treatment.

waitingforbfp - I think Dr. Taylor had posted in the Genesis thread back in January that the fees were going to be the same but I'm not sure.  I should really find that out as I've been going on that assumption.  I'm not sure about the immune treatments.  I was also hoping that maybe Olive would do a 3 IVF plan like VFC does but I won't hold my breath on that one since no one in Vancouver seems to do it.

So I've booked my orientation which is exciting - at least I have little milestones while I wait for everything to happen.

To those that have been there, done that, can you tell me a bit about your experience with the orientation - what happens, what's talked about etc.

Hey tonks...it feels like my orientation was so long ago but I remember meeting with the doctor and going over all the processes again...asking questions.  Then we met with a nurse who gave me the protocol and taught us how to do injections.  I think I also had an u/s that day to check out my ovaries and see how many follicles I had (since I was ovulating I had one dominant one so I had to go back for another u/s before I started meds just to make sure it wasn't a cyst).  It was great because after everything felt real. We got RX and then told to call on Day one of my next cycle.  I didn't have a lot of questions because I had researched the hell out of IVF/ICSI beforehand.  I just wanted to know when to start!!

Waitingforbfp, my clinic is olive I have been with Dr Y since 2007 but I have used the Kelowna clinic for a ultrasound in 2009 and I am having a hysteroscpy done there. When I spoke to a nurse at Olive last week she said the clinics were working very closely.

Tonks sorry to hear it was uncomfortable but glad everything is ok. I have mine scheduled for April 18.
