i'm new to the ivf world and website.

i live in montreal and i am presently at the Montreal Reproductive Center.

I also have an appointment soon at the McGill Reproductive Center.

So far i had the initial consultation, baseline echo and blood tes and my husband the blood tests and spermogramme.

We have a chromosomal problem and therefore wish to avoid further miscarriages and passing on the unbalanced version of our translocation which leads to severe congenital problems and serious deseases. (describing it in a simple way)

as a couple with a genetics issue , we are covered by the RAMQ, (regime assurance medicaments quebec),for 3 cycles of IVF treatments.......

what i found surprising is that i was quoted to have to dish out also out of pocket about 8000.00$$

since in order to analyse the translocation and all chromosomes to avoid any trisomy and any other chromosomes problems, the Clinic has to order probes, he recommended the array CGH probe......

i was wondering if anyone knows about costs of probes?

if anyone ever did pre implantation genetics?

and overall advise about this clinic?

thanks so much in advance,

We did PGD and it does add cost, ours costed about $4000 more for the probes and analysis in addition to requiring ICSI (that was $1500 more than regular IVF), but we had PGD done at Genesis Genetics in Detroit.  I don't know much about Quebec's IVF coverage, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't cover the PGD cost.  $8000 does sound high, does that cover 3 cycles or just the one?

Welcome. I was with McGill and I know that a few ladies on the McGill thread have either researched or done Pgd so you should ask the question here:

FYI there are some Mtl fertility clinic people on the McGill thread as well that can probably answer your questions as well.

The 3 cycles are covered by the RAMQ
I understsnd that the specific probe for the translocation is covered at the mcgill center by the goverment but the wait could be long like 2 years, not sure if this is true yet!

I was recommended the probe that checks all the 24 chromosomesand that at the montreal RC they say they could get it within 3 months.... I didn t get the actual price yet, they are consulting with, but the dr tan was saying up to 8000$.....
