Yes, I've been on ravelry and lots of other free crochet sites. Once and awhile, I find a pattern on etsy.com worth buying. I just learned about 3 months ago. I've made a kitty hat for my niece and a earflap hat with flower for another niece and really nice booties for my nephew. Here are some pictures of stuff for me and my daughter I made. Right now I'm working on a jumper/hat set for Violet. There are great patterns on the yarn manufacturer websites too. Post some pics!

Thank you. If you want to learn to crochet, I recommend it. It's super easy (especially compared to knitting). It's fast and you can make cute stuff for yourself or for gifts.

I've recently taught myself to knit by using books and youtube mostly, been making some hats and a couple of stuffed animals. I often find crochet patterns that I really like but I'm a bit intimidated by it. Any tips on where to start with crocheting?

To start crocheting, there are SO many youtube videos that are super easy. I have been crocheting for over 2 years now. It seems to be such a lost art! my mother in law taught me, and is attempting to stay patient while I learn to knit too! I find knitting is a bit trickier, especially if you mess up !
Currently I am taking a break from all the baby blankets and making myself a 'hook case' So far it looks awesome, and pretty easy :) its hot pink too which I LOVE! If anyone wants te pattern, let me know and I can post it!! I find crocheting keeps my mind off of things and I get quite consumed in it. Im thinking of starting a blog with all of my crochet stuff, patterns I find and a spot for others to add theirs as well. This might be a 'this afternoon' job as I have put it off for awhile now!!! Ill update you ladies if I get around to it ;)
So tired of all of these negatives ...

once I learned how (which didn't take long at all) I found crocheting to be so much easier than knitting. easier to crochet in the round than knit in the round. easier to fix mistakes. easier to do increases and decreases. and much much faster. I haven't picked up my knitting needles at all since I've started crocheting. I know other people who are the opposite - but it's definitely worth trying. I learned from you tube and lots of free easy patterns online. there are really only 3 basic stitches - slip stitch, single crochet and double crochet, and really, you don't even need all 3 for a lot of patters. happy hooking ;)

OMG!! I soooooooo want to start crocheting it's not even funny. I can "knit" well only scarves really..i tried knitting a hat but it was too big for me or my DH :-) I've been watching a ton of youtube videos but i think i need help with my tension and fluidity of crocheting..that's why i want to sit with someone and show them so they can help me..
I ordered some yarn..cotton as the one i was using (Acrylic "satin" by Bernat) was a little slippery. I think the little crochet soft toys are adorable..so that's mainly why I want to try crocheting..

Hi all,
I just noticed this board. I learned to crochet as kid, then forgot, then learned as an adult a few years back, make something about once a year, usually in winter. I'm addicted to buying yarn though!

I just bought some beautiful extra fluffy baby yarn for a friend who just had a baby boy. I was going to crochet a blanket, but it's too hard to see the stitches, even with an extra big hook.

I thought I would try knitting it. I've made a few knitting things, mostly scarfs. I think it would be better with this yarn. But now that I see the cute hats and stuffed toys on this board, I'm inspired to try something other than the old standby baby blanket.

Any ideas for extra fluffy yarn? I mean, it's super super soft, like cotton balls, and fluffy. So not easy to work with, but I'd love to make a stuffed animal with it.

Hey Ellyn
Try the yarn companies websites like Bernat and Lions Brand..they post free patterns and you can tailor the choices to how advanced or novice you are in knitting or crochet.
I want to crochet little stuffy animals--they are SOOOOO cute..there are also youtube tutorials to help! Good luck. I just bought some yarn online and am waiting to have it so I can practice crocheting.

Nov 14- 28w1d- Baby A's waist is small. OB detects the possibility of growth restriction and will keep a close eye on him. Baby B doesn't seem affected at the moment.

Dec. 3- 30w5d- Going in for Fetal Monitoring (1x/wk) due to Mild Restricted Growth for Baby Boy A. Baby Girl B is on the cusp of being Growth Restricted.
Dec. 24- Fetal monitoring 3x a week. OB says I will not go past 36 weeks due to Growth restriction for both babies.

Jan 17, 2013- Andrew John ( 6 lbs 5 oz) and Lucy Cristina (4 lbs 14 oz) were born via C section.

Things I did for this cycle that's different from previous cycles: CoQ10 400 mg twice a day (started in Jan), Benadryl 25 mg 1x day after ET right up to Beta, drank more Rooibos tea after ET, increased my carbs since I am on low carb
