I am looking to change up my skin care routine. What are your favourite face wash/day moisturizer/night moisturizer products? A friend recommended that I visit a Clinique counter as their products are good and decently priced. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

I love Bliss face wash, it's a daily exfoliater too. You can buy it at Sephora and I think it's around $25. For moisture cream I've always followed my Granny's routine. Her face looked amazing at 85 with barely any wrinkles and all she ever used was Avon Rich Moisture Face Cream. It's awesome and cheap too, it often goes on sale for $1.99 and I think it's regular price is $6.99.

I use clinique as well. Mild cleanswer, #2 toner, daily moiturizer (can't remember what its called, it's yellow) and they have a product called moisture surge, it's a gel and it is amazing. You need very little of the product so it lasts a long time. I use one pump of each, cleanser, moisturizer and toner and it lasts me forever. I use their pressed powder foundationm as well, the only one I'll use :)
Me (Kerri-Lyn) 41, DH (Steve) 37, TTC since April 2007Unexplained IF (possibly crappy eggs, AMH 10.4 = poor responder) - HSG, SHGx3, Lap, Cycle Monitoring, Recurrent loss bloods, EMB, Karyotyping, DNA Frag - all normal! 7 IUI's, 2 cancelled IVF's, 3 complete IVF's, 1 FET, 2 clinics, 1 early miscarriage, lots of debt, lots of heartache, lots of tears. We rolled the dice and got lucky on our last ditch "close the door" cycle and have a beautiful little girl. April 2014 - Had the crazy notion to try for another. Shocked with a BFP, miscarried @ 8W6D. See my "about me" page for more cycle details.

I like Philosophy products, I use Revale from Stiefel pharmaceuticals, and we carry it in my derm office, it can be ordered online, expensive but lasts 6mo so not too bad. Drug store product favorite is CeraVe, probably as good or better than Clinique, I put lots of patients on it. Hope that helps.

I use Cetaphyl (or Cetaphil?) to wash my face (and shave my legs!) and it's great for sensitive skin. I use the Clinique moisturizer but I found their other products too harsh for my skin...I used them a long time ago but switched and now I'm a big believer in the Cetaphyl. Best place to buy it is at Costco, especially if you are going to use it to shave your legs too :)

My friend ButterflyKiss provided this quote from Laura Bush's book and I think it captures how many of us feel:"The English language lacks the words to mourn an absence... for someone who was never there at all, we are wordless to capture that particular emptiness. For those who deeply want children and are denied them, those missing babies hover like silent, ephemeral shadows over their lives. Who can describe the feel of a tiny hand that is never held?"

well, that depends what kind of skin you have...

personnaly I went to the Clinique counter and got screwed over royally into buying all these things which were not right for me at all...so be carefull. I had a problem with skin flaking but at the same time my skin was oily at times, so Clinique counter lady said I have dry skin, which I beilived and used thier dry skin lotion or whatever it was...anyway after no improvement I accidently stumbled upon someone who told me my skin was not dry but dehydraded!!! and recommended Vichy Aqua Thermal, I have been using their line for years now...

SO what I am trying to tell you with my story is that if they can't help you at clinique counter they will try to sell you the product no matter what.

on that note I have been using vichy not just for my face, but for my dry feet and other parts of body and I have never been disapointed. I even got DH into using their line for men :)

If you go to the Rexal pharmacy on Rideau and Cumberland, the lady there does skin analysis with Vichy machines, I haven't tried it myself, but it's free and worth a try to get you started.

P.S. I think Vichy is in the same price range as Clinique and they often have specials and package deals/

I have horrible exzema and just visited my dermatologist on Tuesday. Completely changed my routine.

I now own a full arsonal of La Roche-Posay Lipikar line....and 48 hours later I already notice a HUGE difference! Seriously, I didn't think it would work that quick.

Now I have other medications and routines that I didn't have before, but for the areas I can't do them on (like my hands), wow they are soft again and not irritaded. And my arms which were dry are moisturized and smooth.

<3 worth the $50.

Oh and I second Dixie with Vichy Aqua. I have rosacea on my face and was using Vichy...and if you look at my picture...there's like no make-up on there...you can't even see the red or irritation. I also use Dove's mositurizing make-up remover as a lotion...it's amaziningly moisturizing and it takes crap of the face without feeling rough.

Vichy is nice, I also like ROC products in general but I'm really crap at routines so probably shouldn't give advice, lol. Thinking about trying the Dove make up remover tho' - I hardly ever manage to get make up on but a good, and especially quick and easy, cleanser is something I'd really appreciate.

I use it every morning, no make-up...I get out of the shower and I put the lotion on my face...one of the first things I do in the morning.

I like it also for make-up removal because it isn't like an alcohol and feels very smooth when taking make-up off my eyes. It can make you a litte blurry eyes for a moment if you put on too much, I just like how it feels like putting smooth water on my eyes...it's the best I can describe it.

I love the stuff I got from Lush. My skin feels so young and fresh. It's a little difficult to use because the cleanser comes in a dry paste, that you add water to, but my skin has never felt better. Everyone always comments on how young and "healthy" I look when I am using it. I use the "Angels on Bare Skin" cleanser, the "breath of fresh air" toner, and the "cosmetic lad" moisturizer.

I had an interesting comment from a much younger co-worker today: "Wow, your skin is amazing. What do you do? You look totally botoxed!" Well....I have never done botox so I don't know if I look botoxed!

My skin care routine consists of: Nutraderm wash or Allenbury's soap, an Aveda toner, and Aveda moisturizer. I use Clinique's City Block which has a 40 SPF. It has a little bit of a tint to it and makes a good primer under makeup as well as a great sunscreen. I still get colour but don't burn and I do like the sun! I think that this product gives a nice glowy look.

Since taking fish oil supplementation I have found that my skin has really improved. Maybe it is lubricating things from the inside out! :)

Me: 40
Dx: DH: Vasectomy; need IVF/ICSI ME: D.O.R. and many immunological issues. (Initially presented as "normal" but issues were only discovered after IVF attempt #2 and #3 after testing at new clinic)
IVF attempt #1 Nov.2009, Age 37: Long "Lupron" protocol
Dec.2009: Cycle cancelled due to oversuppression
IVF attempt #2, Age 38: April 2010: 3 eggs retrieved, 2 mature, 2 fertilized, ET of 2 embryos BFN
IVF atempt #3 at new clinic: November 2010, Age 38: 5 eggs retrieved, 4 mature, 4 fertilized, ET of 2 blastocysts BFP
Strong beta numbers but babies not measuring on track but one heartbeat is present. Followup u/s reveals no HB's :( Had D&C--so sad.
Moved to new clinic closer to home + more of a focus on testing for potential immunological factors:
Further testing reveals three mutations related to inherited thrombophilia (2 MTHFR mutations and PA1-1 mutation), positive ANA, elevated NK cells and cytokines and low levels of leukocyte antibodies (LADS), Recommended Immunological treatment: Humira, LIT, IVig and blood thinners if PG
IVF Protocol: Low stim for me/ TESE needed for DH; took Humira in late August and early September; taking DHEA plus Co-Enzyme Q10, vitamins for DH just for good measure! September--two trips to Mexico for LIT treatment, treatments 3 weeks apart
Initial re-testing through Alan Beer Centre after some of the immune treatments reveals only cytokines were lowered, NKs still high and LAD numbers still low. Another LIT in Mexico is recommended. We decide to begin cycle on doctor's recommendation of just doing IVIG.
IVF#4, Age 39 : November 2011: Worst AFC EVER--a whopping 4! Three follicles responded, two eggs were retrieved. Three day transfer of two Grade 1 8 cell embryos: "Fahita" & "Burrito" Stick, stick, stick little ones!
BFP! Beta of 569
Viability u/s at 6 w 2d shows TWO babies measuring on track with heartbeats of 121. Looks like babies might be sharing the same amniotic sac.
Second u/s at 7w 2 d shows ONE baby with hb of 150, measuring 7 w 3 days. No sign of twin. Vanishing twin syndrome?
Third u/s at 8 w 2d shows ONE baby with hb of 170, measuring 8 w 3 days. Looks like a little jellybean!
12 week u/s at 12 w 2 days and baby is measuring 12 w 5 days with a heart beat of 150. Baby mooned us and waved at us with one hand....looked like a "royal" wave to me!
13 week doctor's appointment, HB=155 on doppler
14 week u/s to check cervix, HB=148
16 week u/s to check cervix, HB=138, baby had hiccups!
20 week u/s--everything looks good! HB=130, looks like we're having a GIRL!
IPS results very good!
39 weeks: Our baby girl arrived!!! She is healthy and beautiful! We are so happy! :)

I guess you wouldn't believe me if I say that the only skin care product that I use is an organic coconut oil. This is actually what I use not only for my hair but also for my entire skin. Really makes my skin and hair smooth and soft.

I'm a huge fan of Lush products too. I love their face masks, mostirizurs, toners. Plus it's all natural. I'm in love with their hair products lately (Big, veganese and R&B).
