Hi, I am 38 yrs old and got pregnant with a singleton from my first IVF cycle. We did ICIS and my husband's sperm didnt fertilize all the eggs even with ICIS. I took progesterone and estrogen to support the pregnancy and at 6 weeks, we saw a strong heartbeat that kept going strong until week 9 when it stopped. The RE doesn't know what happened. Today I had a D & C and they sent the fetus off to a lab for chromsome testing. My RE suggested we get genetic testing and autoimmune testing. My question is how much infortmation will we be able to get from the lab results from the fetus and can you offer any insight?? I was pregnant naturally last year, only to miscarriage at 5.5 weeks as well. Thank you.

Alicia

I am sorry to hear of your loss. The screening suggested is very sensible as it may identify the cause of your loss which may be possible to treat.

Good luck!

Peter

I am soo sorry about your loss. It is soo devastating to be continually crushed like this. In my opinion, I think if they are able to determine whether the embryo was chromosonally normal or not, that should help a bit. If the embryo was fine, then maybe your doctor can focus more on any immune issues that may be present. I don't know if you are aware of IVIG transfusion, which is used for immune issues. We had done 3 fresh transfers plus 1 FET & we only had success once we tried the IVIG transfusion. Just a thought for you. I hope you are able to get some answers as to why this keeps happening. Again, I am so sorry you have to go through this.

Big hugs!!!
