Welcome back Dr Peter Hollands!!
Posted 12 October 2010 - 09:22 PM
For nearly 5 years Peter answered questions at IVF.ca with insight and refreshing honesty. Peter was extremely popular amongst members. It's a pleasure to have him back.
Peter trained at Churchill College, Cambridge University and Bourn Hall Clinic under the supervision of IVF pioneer and 2010 Nobel Prize winner Prof R.G. Edwards FRS. His PhD was on embryonic haemopoietic stem cells in the mouse and the work it contains laid some of the groundwork for the current work in stem cell technology. His post-doc was at Bourn Hall Clinic (the first IVF clinic in the world) where he became one of the first clinical embryologists in this field. He then became an academic at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge teaching pathology and physiology to undergraduates and postgraduates and carrying out research in cord blood and adult stem cell biology. Peter was then invited to spend 2 years in Toronto working as the Scientific Director of the Cells for Life and Victoria Angel Registry of Hope cord blood banks and Markham Fertility Centre all of which are leading organisations in Canada. He then returned to the UK to work as the Fertility Services Manager of the BMI Chelsfield Park Hospital which involved being the HFEA Person Responsible for the Clinic, guiding the ISO accreditation of the clinic and the day to day running of the clinic. This was followed by a short time as an Inspector in the HFEA which is the UK regulatory authority for the IVF sector and currently as a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Science at Westminster University in London. Peter sits on various advisory boards, publishes widely both in the medical literature and as an author in various textbooks. He has remained active in the media, addressing IVF and stem cell technology issues and has consultancies both in the IVF and stem cell fields.
Peter will return effective Monday October 18.
Welcome home Peter!

I missed you ! I mean it I've had to surf, crawl and sniff all over the web for another Embryologist like you! I had lots of important technical questions for you last week when I cycled that I had to 'guess' at !! LOL.
I'd send you cyber cookies or something if I baked
Once you settle in I've got a re-frozen blast 4AA transfer question(should I?)that I still need answered though.....but I guess I'm not allowed questions yet. (hehe)
