Hi,

I'm pretty new around her but not around TTC and fertility clinic. We started TTC on February 2003. After a full year my family dr had me done all kind of BW tests which all came back good. She convinced me to wait an extra year saying that sometime it takes time. After 2 years I demanded to see a specialist. Although my boyfriend wasn't too open to the idea of getting someone to look at us through the microscope he did come to every appointment. We started to go to the Bathurst Progesta clinic which was closer to our place and cheaper. I always loved the dr there. She was up front and very nice. She did 3 IUI's all BFN. On our last IUI, I finally had it with her and told her that her clinic didn't have everything needed for ART procedures. She was always short on staff. One of my IUI had to be timed earlier because no one was available on the day I was ready. :th_aggahhh: She eventualy closed the clinic and moved to Montreal. We were devastated. All that money down the drain and no baby.

I finally convince my boyfriend to try the Conceptia clinic. It was a good 4 hours drive for us but I am determine to have a baby. During all those years of ups and downs, we have been checked and looked at from different angles. DH was diagnosed with low count and low motility. It is only when we came to the Conceptia clinic that we found out that he also has full antibodies. Which means his body is trying to kill the goods. It makes it quite impossible to have a BFP or even try for IUI as his count is too low. It has been a long road and after much arguing, crying, ect. He told me he no longer wants to try. If it happens he will be happy but if not he no longer want to have sex on a schedule and getting checked. I respect his choice. So I came out with the idea of donor. Although he wasn't too warmed up about this idea he finally said yes. Our first appt concerning this was on July 2. I've never seen my Dh so relaxed in my life. He told the dr everything and the nurse was really encouraging. Now we only need to come up with the money, see the psychologist, get the IUI in the fall. On our last appt Dr R told me that my DHEA is slightly higher (11). He said he would give me some type of steroid when we would cycle. Now he offered a natural cycle instead of a medicated one. But I think I would like medicated because there is more monitoring plus more target. This will be our last try at this then grieve I guess.

During the year of 2008-2009 we also filled for adoption. We were told about 8 years for a newborn.

Anyone wants to share their journey or their time with Conceptia would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Hi srjv. I'm not with Conceptia, so I don't have any feedback. I just wanted to welcome you here and tell you "good luck!", I hope all goes well with your cycle in the fall. It sounds like you have had a good initial experience with this new clinic, which is encouraging.

Thanks. I like the nurses better than the dr but my boyfriend really likes him. To get him to keep on going to make it happens as been really hard so I'm really happy that he likes the dr. :th_acheerlead:

srvj,
Hi !! I am just seeing this post here now. I'm not sure how I missed it before, but I did. I'm glad you are cycling with us on the Conceptia Thread. I didn't realize you had a 4 hour drive to get here. That's a lot of driving! It sounds like you have already been thhrough a lot, I hope your IUI will be successful :)
In your post you asked for feed-back regarding Conceptia Clinic. Well, I've been to three Clinics (before we moved to Moncton). As for the first clinic I went to...well.. I will refrain from commenting much, just that they were useless and were very weak on running adequate tests. I was so fustrated I travelled all the way out West to Foothills Regional in Calgary (They had great stats) I didn't even know Conceptia exsisted. While cycling at Foothills we moved here and came across Conceptia Clinic. They have excellent stats, and when I developed problems after my Calgary embryo transfer they suggested I see Dr.Robichaud and that he would take care of me, and he did. I have been cycling at Conceptia ever since, I get pregnant every time but due to many other issues (other than fertility - as if that's not enough!)I miscarry. I'm trying to get my body in gear this time to handle a pregnancy. Anyway srvj, the bottom line is that I could choose any clinic, and I still chose Conceptia. Dr.Robichaud is very compassionate and is an excellent RE, from my own experience I think the fact that he is quiet at times is because he is thinking. It was a relief to me to find and RE who listened to my situation before commenting, and that his approach was tailored for me. All the RE's at Conceptia are great, I know a 4 hour drive is quite long but I think it is well worth your while. The IUI is a bit of a numbers game but I remember chatting on here not too long ago with a lady who was succcessful at it her first try.
Hey, It's fall, I think this is a wonderful time of year for lots of bfp's :)
Ciao for now srvj,
Good Luck
Stacy

Thanks Stacy. I do hope that this IUI will be sucessfull. We will only be trying one more time then we are done and let nature takes its course. If it's meant to be it will happen and if not well I guess we have some other purpose to do here. I find that we lost our time and money when we went to Bathurst and sometime what makes me doubt Conceptia is the fact that we were not served right at the other clinic. I'm always scared that this clinic will handle us the same way. So far all their good care and compassion have shown me that they are not there for money they are there to help and make it work. :) If I would have known about that clinic before going to Bathurst we would have been there sooner. Maybe this way at the time my DH still had a fair number of sperms and it would have worked with the good care of a real technician. But we can't go back time so I have to look forward and keep moving and hope for the best. This is why we choose a donor. Not only because we can't afford IVF but also because Dr Robichaud said he didn't want to lose our time or money with DH's count being so low our best option would be IVF ICSI.
