So Im 7w2d my ultrasound showed a sac and fetal pole measuring 7w4d and I have hcg of 17300, but no heartbeat. They are telling me its an mc, but to confirm I need to return next Monday for an ultrasound.

My hearts a little shattered right now but I asked how they will treat the miscarriage and she said methadrexite (so?) pills . So has anyone done this ? How painful were the cramps and bleeding? When did the bleeding start after the pills?

We are switching to Hannam and Im going to do ivf again and test embryos. How long did anyone wait after an mc to do ivf?

Melissa - I am so sorry - this is such a cruel journey. I hope there is a heartbeat at the next ultrasound and you don't have to experience a MC and that everything I include that follow with be of no use or relevance.

In December 2019 I had low betas and then they confirmed no heartbeat. I actually declined the medication and stopped all other meds (hormones) and it passed naturally. I think it took about 5 days before the bleeding started. It felt like really bad cramps in waves, then there was a big one. I had been spotting/bleeding all day before that. I switched to Hannam in January 2020 and started priming in February and had a retrieval in March - so not too long of a wait. Things then got paused because of COVID.

Why did you decline the meds ? Im really afraid of any complications or anything related. How far along were you?

I miscarried at 8 weeks + 2. My numbers weren't nearly as high as yours and there wasn't a fetal pole. They gave me the meds, but said I could wait and see if i wanted (which I preferred - hoping my body would know what to do). I had to go for a follow-up ultrasound to ensure that I passed everything (which sucked).

I'm sorry Melissa. I wish you had better news. The emotional roller coaster is brutal. BFN is much easier to deal with.

Did they offer you to have to chromosomes tested?

Hello Melissa, i am new here and i hope you don't mind me joining.

I am sorry to hear about the MC but i do pray they get a heartbeat at your next appointment.

I had thesame at 7w2days and my RE told me to stop the progesterone suppository and my body did the rest. Bleeding started 2 days after and then i was scheduled for a follow up Ultrasound to check if there was nothing left there.

I don't know the details but I assume you save some of the tissue that passes and bring it in.

I'm sorry to hear but hope for good news.

We went through 3 miscarriages.  The first she miscarried naturally, the other 2 my wife was given misoprostol.  They asked her to use a strainer to save some tissue for genetic testing.  They were able to confirm trisomy for our 2nd miscarriage, but my wife was unable to collect enough tissue for testing the 3rd time.

March 2016 - Miscarriage #1 (chemical pregnancy)

August 2016 -  Miscarriage #2 (Trisomy-16)

December 2016 - Miscarriage #3 (unknown - suspected chromosomal abnormality)

IVF #1 - Aug 2017 (estrogen priming antagonist protocol) - 9 eggs retrieved, 3 fertilized, 2 blastocysts, only 1 PGS normal embryo 5BB mitoscore 25.1 (frozen)

IVF #2 - Nov 2017 (estrogen priming antagonist protocol - with testosterone priming and growth hormone) - 7 eggs retrieved, 5 fertilized with ICSI, 1 blastocyst PGS-normal 5BB mitoscore 33.12 (frozen)

IVF #3 - Jan 2018 (estrogen priming antagonist protocol with growth hormone) -  4 eggs retrieved, 2 fertilized with ICSI, 1 blastocyst PGS-normal 6BB mitoscore 29.82 (frozen)

FET #1 - March 2018 - cancelled due to thin lining (6.25mm)

FET #1.2 - April 2018 - cancelled due to thin lining again! (4.85mm)

FET #1.3 - June 4, 2018 (lining 7.5mm!) - th_abfn.gif

ERA Aug 2018 - Pre-receptive by 1 day

FET #2 - Sep 18, 2018 (lining 6.9mm) th_abfp.gif  Beta #1: Sep 30, 2018 - 682  Beta #2: Oct 6,2018 - 6656 U/S: Oct 15 - measuring 6w4d (CRL 6.87mm), HR 127bpm! U/S: Oct 25 - measuring 8w1d (CRL 16.69mm), HR 168bpm!  Discharged to midwives!  June 7, 2019: It's a girl!  DD born 7lb 2oz babygirl.gif

Melissa - im so sorry you are going through this and even though the miscarriage has passed its a pain in the heart that only women who have been through can truly understand. I lost our baby from our first fet at 9 weeks even after seeing a heartbeat. I was totally naive when it happenned and completely emotionally unprepared. Devestated didnt begin to describe how I felt but Im a person who needs to plow forward to heal and thats just what I did. You asked how long before starting again .... I miscarried in December right before xmas and did my 2nd fresh cycle in march. Even with only 6 eggs that cycle lead to my boy/girl twins and then my daughter with the following fet. I only tell you this for a ray of hope as my situation felt hopeless and impossible post miscarriage. I hope you take the time you need and have supportive people around you but ivf is an absolute crapshoot with often little rhyme or reason for the results.

Thank you for telling me that! I do believe Ill carry a healthy babe I just hate the waiting. My miscarriage was at the end of august and I go back next week to make sure it worked. Im switching clinics and my pre ivf appointment is in early October so Im hopping to start in early November. I definitely feel like a fresh set of eyes is something i need.

I am sorry for your loss too. We have similar personalities, I need to plow forward too. Im really sad and I know it wont fix it but it certainly will help. Waiting is the worst!

IVF is termed to have failed repeatedly when there is failure to achieve clinical pregnancy even after transfer of at least four good quality embryos in a minimum of three fresh or frozen cycles in women under 40 years of age. While most of the ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) clinics report an implantation rate of 40-60%, the exact incidence in lacking due to the difference in. definition of implantation.

Repeated IVF failure can be attributed to quite a few reasons. These can be embryo related, parental chromosomal abnormalities which leads to abnormal embryo formation or oocyte aneuploidies dur to advanced maternal age.

It is imperative to determine the reason behind the repeated failure of IVF before taking a look at the treatment options. For diagnosing the cause of repeated IVF failure uterine evaluation through Hysteroscopy comes handy.

Endometrial Receptive Array (ERA) is used to evaluate the receptivity of the uterus. This helps in determining the time when the uterus is completely ready to receive the embryo and the procedure can be scheduled accordingly. When high sperm DFI causes repeated IVF failure, advanced technology like MACS during ICSI can be chosen for selection of sperm with low DFI.

The couple must maintain a healthy lifestyle along with proper diet, regular meditation, yoga, exercise and refrain from smoking, alcohol and habit-forming drugs during the course of treatment. Patients must also be mindful of approaching a proper IVF consultant and IVF center to avoid the stress of failure. Better results can be achieved by following the proper guidelines and instructions by the consultant.
