Hi, I have been TTC for 4 years. 2 years ago had removed with laparoscopic myomectomy one fibroid 5 sm. 2 years have passed. December had ultrasound there was nothing, only adenomyosis. Now one month later in January one usm specialist has noticed 12 mm fibroid, how is this even possible? One month? I am really worried. I hope it is mistaken with calsifications...

Hello Guzelle19,

I was in similar despair when I had my myomectomy 6 months ago and did a routine ultrasound and the tech told me she could still see fibroids. I had a real talk with my surgeon and he educated me that fibroid do go grow back. Some might grow aggressive bigger than the previous one that was removed or might just be smaller. So just to clarify it grows back. Also your Surgeon might not remove all the fibroids during your surgery due to health risk such as hemorrhage and location of the fibroid etc so you might want to talk to your surgeon if there were any left. A lot of people have fibroid that goes undetected and doesn’t pose symptoms unless they do a routine ultrasound and sometimes ultrasound don’t see it all. As long as it doesn’t affect your fertility or cause any troubling symptoms you are good to go.
