Has anyone had a cancelled cycle due to poor response to stims but gone on to have success with IVF in subsequent cycles? We just had our IVF cycle cancelled (I only had 3 mature follicles after 7 day of stims) and it was converted to an IUI which I dont have much hope for. This is our second IVF cycle and Im losing hope.

There's a fine line between being pessimistic and being realistic. Try to do whatever you can to take care of yourself. I know it's a tough process that can leave you emotionally drained, but don't lose hope. It is known that the road to success is long 

 

edit: I was TTC for two years. Now I'm switching to IVF, and this article gave me a lot of hope

Mines different cancelled due to covid. However planning to retrieval with a new doctor later this year. Maybe try switching.

Its been two weeks since the cycle was cancelled and we have hear nothing from our RE and his assistant said he is booking three weeks out of we want to speak with him... we are switching clinics for our next round for sure. Hoping we can get some answers from the new clinic.

Hi Adia888 I have DOR as well. Do you mind me asking what your AMH level is and what protocol Olive had you on? 

I have a second option apt there and not sure I want to go through with it.

Im 38 and my AMH is now at 10. I was on the Antagonist Protocol at Olive - 225 Puregon and 225 Menopur. I asked about a Lupron Flare cycle or mini-IVF as there is research out there that women with DOR do better on these protocols but our doctor said there was no evidence to support those findings and said they did want to deviate from the standard protocol which works best for everyone. I went with Olive initially because I heard good things - I think they are fine if you are an uncomplicated case. Our first cycle with them was ok but the second cycle was a disaster from the start with lots of mistakes made by the nursing team and it being really difficult to get straight answers from our doctor. Have you looked in Genesis? I think they have a superior lab.

Oh wow, I did not think they would put someone with DOR on a standard protocol but one that works better for DOR, this is why I was going to get a second opinion from them, to see if they had anything more to offer about my situation but this makes me think maybe not. 

 

I found out in August at 36 (just turned 37) my AMH was only 2.4 pmol and an AFC of between 7-9. We did Micro-Dose Lupron Flare with PCRM being on 10 units Lupron 2ce a day and then 450 IU Gonal F. I stimmed for 8 days and triggered with 10,000 Pregnyl. 

 

I had 11 follicles growing but there was some uneven growth so we ended up getting 6 eggs, 5 were mature, all fertilized with ICSI and 4 made it to blastocyst. I had a 4AA fresh transfer fail, a 3AA frozen fail and I am transferring a 3BA tomorrow. Then I will have a 3BB left if this one doesn't work. My RE thinks based on my age that 1-2 out of my 4 should be normal. 

 

I really like it at PCRM, my RE has switched up my protocol for this FET a bit since FET #1 didn't work and I find them everyone there super friendly and organized. Only reason I wanted the second opinion was I honestly am just getting desperate and worrying I'm running out of time, but my gut is saying I should stay with them. 

 

How do you compare labs across the clinics out there? Like where did you hear Genesis has a better lab? I try to research which clinic seems to be best but it's so hard. Even the success rates on the websites confuse me lol Olive is 75% for my age with own eggs, and PCRM is 63% but Olive doesn't state online what the success rate is based on but someone who goes there told me it's based on if you get pregnant they consider it a success (so chemical pregnancies too) and PCRM states it's based on Clinically Pregnancy (so seen on ultrasound)

Maybe it won't hurt to still get a second opinion from Olive and see what they say. Which doctor did you speak with last time? I think 6 eggs and 4 blastocysts sounds really good for a low AMH. It's also really good that PCRM will consider switching protocols and trying new things. Who is your doctor there? I have heard good things about Dr. Seethram. I asked our RE after our first failed cycle if they would consider any changes and they said no - I even spoke with a different doctor at the same clinic and they all just wanted me on the same protocol, which failed again. It's really hard to compare the success rates of labs and clinics in Canada. I know Genesis' lab will perform additional services that other clinics like Olive don't offer - for example, calcium ionophore activation (if you have problems with fertilization). Also, some labs (I'm not sure if Genesis does this but Hannam's CCRM lab definitely does) will grow immature eggs in their lab for a few more days instead of discarding immature eggs after retrieval. This can really help women who have a low number of eggs to begin with. This is a very time and labour intensive process and only the more sophisticated labs will do this. I also agree with you that the statistics are not that helpful as we don't know what they are really based on and whether the clinic more readily turns away or suggests egg donors for more difficult cases to boost their success rates. Resulting live birth rates to me would be what I would want to see. Perhaps it's worth it to get a few opinions from different clinics and compare their suggestions with PCRM's.

I can't help with personal experiences, but it will be better to trust your doc who hopely knows what they are doing. Stay positive,for sure you are in good and proffesional hands.
