Hi everyone - I did my ivf cycle in nov and currently 12 weeks pregnant with DD. As gender selection is banned in Australia, I am keen to know what is the gender of your first ivf baby and those frozen embryos?
Ive heard that boy embryos are prettier and tend to be used in fresh cycle, and most of the frozen embryos are females..
I still have two frozen embryos and am very nervous/curious that they are all females...
Anyone has experience on having fresh embryo (female) and frozen embryo (male) transferred?

My embryos came from a donor, however, the embryo they transferred during their fresh cycle was female, and the we used the first frozen one and we have a son.  We have two left in the freezer and don't know whether they are boys or girls!

Not sure whether this will help but just for your information purposes. After my wife's first failed IVF (ended with a miscarriage) and subsequently discovered that there was a missing chromosome, we went with PDG/PGS to check for abnormality for all other embryos (10+), and this process will reveal the gender too.

From our experience, gender selection is not the embryologist identifying the sperms with X or Y and apply them the eggs to get the gender you want. It's impossible because a drop of semen has millions of sperms. The embryologist performs a semen wash, takes the sperms and apply to the eggs. Once fertilized, he/she will take some tissues out of each embryo and send them to a lab for PGD/PGS. Once the results come back, you will see the gender (as well as its normality) for your list of embryos. You then pick which one you want to transfer. This is what we did. At this point, my wife and I do not care about the gender anymore. We don't have any children. We just need to have one baby to get started and think about family balance later.

Sure, I don't mind to share. 11 embryos sent to lab, 5 normal embryos, three boys and two gals. I lost two normal boys already due an unknown reason. My wife ended up with a miscarriage in December, and I'm still very sad.

For the remaining 6 abnormal embryos, 1 male, 3 females, and two XXX. I will not let my wife to do untested transfer again. The physical and emotional pains she has to go through are too much.

I'm also responsible for it because my sperm determines the gender. To play my part, I had to change my diet, such as cutting down meat substantially and eating more vegetables. I was told that I need to be less acidic and I need to consume food with zinc. My preference is boy, and I think being less acidic is better to get more Y. I think zinc helps sperm survivability.

Congrats on your pregnancy!  I did a fresh transfer of the best looking embryo on day 5 back in February last year and it was a negative.  I only had one embryo frozen from that cycle and it was a bit slow and needed another day to grow before being frozen on day 6.  I transferred this embryo in June and am currently 34 weeks pregnant with a boy.  I, too, always read that female embryos tend to be the "slower" ones but lo and behold, my slow grower is a boy.  All the best!

My only fresh transferred ended up an ectopic so we never found out the gender but I have had success with 2 frozen transfers, one resulted in my son and I am currently 19 weeks pregnant with girl. My son was 3AA when frozen on day 5 but grew to 6AB once thawed the day of transfer. This embryo was a 5AB when frozen on day 5 and grew to 6AB once thawed the day before transfer.
