Me - 35 (blocked tubes)
Hubby - 34 (no issues)
TTC - Forever/10 yrs too long
Oct 06 - Mar 07 - Clomid
Sept 08 - Laparoscopy to remove LT, re-opened RT
Jan 09 - Sono showed RT closed
May 09 - IVF #1 IVF Canada
Cycle cancelled due to poor response - Lupron, Menopur & Repronex
May to Sept 09 - Acupuncture 2x a wk, raw herbs 5 days/wk for 5 wks
Sept 09 - IVF #2 IVF Canada: Lupron, Menopur & Repronex; E2 was 20,000+; 13 follies
Follicles disappeared on ER, only 4 immature eggs retrieved
2 fertilized, only 1 decent 8 cell embryo, transfered Day 3 - US guided was optional & not recommended
Acupuncture day before and on day of ET
6-7 dpt - Mild cramping
10dpt - Heavy red bleeding during a girls road trip. Cried secretly in my car while friends took site seeing pictures.
16dpt - Bloodwork - BFN
Need a mental/emo break, continued acupuncture every so often
Apr 10 - IVF #3 Hannam Fertility Clinic
BCP, Gon f, Orgalutran, Ovidrel as HCG, L - thyroxine; E2 was 8300+; 6 follies
Extras: CoQ10, usual vits, some powdered herbs, acupuncture 1x wk
Cycle was perfect
All 6 follies retrieved; 5 fertilized & divided well; 3 made it to blastocyst stage; 2 arrested on d6pr
2 blastocyst transfered Day 5 full bladder & U/S guided; 1 to chill out
Acupuncture just before and right after ET; Prometrium + Estrance. Rested most of the day.
4dpt - really thought I was getting AF while at work. Bloated, heavy pelvic cramps. boobs are ridiculously sensitive and full.
7dpt - painful trapped gas in tummy - I look 5 mths pg & hurts to stretch. had a sad argument with DH & cried myself to sleep.
8dpt - woke early to find brownish spotting. tummy gas just keeps getting worst. so upset (exactly the same day I got AF last IVF cycle). really thought I was pg all this time. now regret not transferring all 3 blasts.
9dpt - no spotting. upper ab is still in pain. still look and feel like a donut.
10dpt - brownish spotting in the morning again. feels like I have my AF. didn't want to get up today but realized if I'm not pg, staying in bedroom will not do me any good.
12dpt - a bit of stringy blood in early morning. this is the ultimate torture. boobs feel heavy. soreness in upper inner thigh below groin.
14dpt - May 3/10 frightened about getting results of PG test but it was a BFP with crazy high beta (5000). Please let it be a healthy singleton.
16dpt - May 5/10 slightly nervous about the call. Still PG, beta at 11,846. Holy smokes!
20dpt - May 10/10 uncomfortable cramps during day/evening. wiped red string-like blood after peeing in the middle of the night. nothing for the rest of week.
24dpt - May 14/10 inner thigh by groin area still sore as if i over exercised. red blood clot came out while using toilet late at night.
27dpt - May 27/10 u/s showed 2 sacs. fraternal twins but only got 1 heart beat 128 from baby 1. baby 2 only 1/3 of baby 1. we are told i must have miscarried week before.

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: IVF is very stressful and I tried to do everything I could to reduce my stress levels. Acupuncture was wonderful for reducing stress. I also took 3 weeks off of work and spent a lot of time with family and friends. I let my dh be in charge of my meds. He mixed, measured and gave me all of my needles, which made me feel less alone in this process and let him feel more involved. I also ate a healthy diet, took a lot of vitamins, walked everyday, and listed to the Anji IVF meditations. I don't know if these things helped me get pg, but they made me feel a lot better physically and emotionally.

When I started the journey of IVF #3, I actually collected all the success stories from this thread of the ladies who's stories were alot like mine and printed it out so I could read it every time I needed a boost. Then I was so bold as to make my OWN success story BEFORE I had my beta...boy, talk about tempting fate. I knew this was my last time trying, so why not dream big, eh? And then it worked!!! This was the success story I wrote before my BFP, with just a little tweaking:

Name: LadyLazarus (Laura)
Age: 41
How long TTC: 4 years
Diagnosis or any known issues: One blocked tube, age, mild MF
Treatments you tried before IVF: 7 IUI's, half with Letrozole
How many IVF did you do before success: 3
Are you using donor eggs or sperm: No
Protocol (meds taken): Estrogen Priming w/ICSI, 450 Gonal F, Letrozle, Cetrotide, Luvaris, 5 months of 75mg daily DHEA then stopped 3 months before last IVF
How many follicles at ER: 10
How many eggs retrieved: 10

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: IVF is a journey that you have to prepare yourself for, in the event that it doesn't work the first time, so that you stay strong enough to carry on. I had to travel out of country to afford IVF and no doctor in the states told me that was possible, even though I told them all that I could not afford the $18K I was being quoted. Leave no stone unturned in your quest. Ask questions, rely on friends, learn to grieve and carry on. Be grateful for your partnerships!

I finally had success on an fet after adopting our first daughter. We did IVF twice and several fet cycles which all failed. We put everything on hold to adopt our daughter Ava and when she was 10 months old we went back to try with our remaining frozen embryos. Our success was with a transfer of three frozen embryos with assisted hatching. Finally one took and our daughter Gracie was born after five years of trying.

Name: Tanya
Age: 36
How long TTC: almost 2 years
Diagnosis or any known issues: Low sperm count, elevated prolactin, elevated C4
Treatments you tried before IVF: IUI both non-medicated and medicated
How many IVF did you do before success: None. We were very lucky.
Are you using donor eggs or sperm: No
Protocol (meds taken): BCP, Lupron, Gonal F, Repronex
How many follicles at ER: approx 13 large follicles
How many eggs retrieved: 21 (only 9 mature)
How many eggs fertilized: 4 fertilized (with ICSI)
How many days between ER and ET: 3 days
How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: 2 grade 1 embryos (the best grade)
Symptoms or issues during 2WW: dizziness, fatigue, pressure near right ovary (may have been due to the stimulation), brown implantation spotting, a lively pulse 11 days past the transfer (in chinese medicine they call this a slippery pulse), mild cramping down low, and urine that smelled like cat pee (seriously). I was certain I was pregnant in the second week, but because I had never done IVF before I wasn't sure how much of it was as a result of the drugs.
What day you got your BFP: 13dp3dt
HPT before blood test: Yes, the day before. I wanted to prepare myself.
Number of first beta: 85 - on 14dp3dt (very low)
Number of babies: 1 baby (confirmed today via ultrasound)
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process:

Statistics are only statistics, and you can have success despite the fact that the odds are against you. (I was very upset when we had such a low fertilization rate and again when my first beta was so low).

Me 39 - slightly elevated C4, great AMH

Hi friends..any of you considering IVF ICSI BLASTO in DUBAI. beware...had the worst of experiences wih DGFC with inexperienced lady doctors and embroylogists. please dont waste your monies here. They dont care for you they care about money only. Post ivf icsi...we care a damn to your health attitude exists here and almost beg for reports n scans that have been paid for. If you have no choice maybe ask for the senior most ivf specialist male preferably. dont lose hope...but consider DUBAI as last option in the world.
Caregiver and wellwisher. All the Best:)
