Number of first beta: Nov 1st 309, second Nov 3rd 737
Number of babies: unsure find out Nov 19th...
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: After 4 days of meds we were told that our chances were slim and that most couples cancel at this point...We decided that we had come far enough and we would leave it to fate. We were told we would get the same reponse if we tried IVF again so our chances were as good as they could be. So glad we continued and hopefully our prayers continue to be answered for a healthy child.
I had acupunture the day of egg retrieval and 2 treatments the day of transfer (45 minutes before and after procedure), apparently it increases blood flow to your uterus.
As well, I switched to all organic foods and researched the best fruits and vegetables to eat for fertility and implantation. Best advice I can give is keep a positive attitude! (easier said than done...I just did my best and was lucky to have a supportive DH and great friends)

How long TTC: 2-3 years
Diagnosis or any known issues: blocked tube, the dreaded 'advanced maternal age'

How many IVF did you do before success: One plus one IUI
Are you using donor eggs or sperm: No

How many eggs retrieved: 7
How many eggs fertilized: 7
How many days between ER and ET: 3
How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: 4 outstanding (less than 7% fragmentation) embryos
Symptoms or issues during 2WW: Not a speck of bleeding (and I really looked for it) but fatigue, bloating and abdominal/GI discomfort beyond a joke. Also had masses of CM.
What day you got your BFP: Positive beta 14dp3dt (Sept 16th)
HPT before blood test: Yes, a positive on 12dp3dt (Sept 14th)
Number of first beta: 375

What day you got your BFP: 16 days past 3 day transfer
HPT before blood test: No, evil sticks
Number of first beta: Not sure, DH was too stunned by hearing that the test was positive he has no idea what was said after that.

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: I was certain that treatment would work on the first cycle, for some lucky ones it does but for some it doesn't. Try to stay strong and not give up, miracles do happen!
You have to be your own advocate. These clinics are busy and you need to ask questions and do your research. On our last cycle we changed things up and did further testing at my request. Not sure what "did it" this cycle but so glad that we tried some different alternative options.
Endometriosis, poor egg quality, fibroids and now MTHFR

Name: Haligobaby
Age: 32
How long TTC: Since 2006
Diagnosis or any known issues: Mild male factor, both of us are hypothyroid, basically we were undiagnosed.
Treatments you tried before IVF: Signed the consent forms for IUI but RE encouraged us to go straight to IVF.
How many IVF did you do before success: We are very grateful that this was our first.
Are you using donor eggs or sperm: No.
Protocol (meds taken): Long protocol with Suprefact nasally, then stims with Repronex and Bravelle, aspirin.
How many follicles at ER: 22
How many eggs retrieved: 9 mature
How many eggs fertilized: 7 with ICSI
How many days between ER and ET: 5 days, longest 5 days of my life it seemed!
How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: 2 blasts; both were 20/20
Symptoms or issues during 2WW: heartburn, headaches, weird sleep, some mild cramping, could have been the progesterone.
What day you got your BFP: Saw a faint line on HPT at 4 days post 5-day transfer.
HPT before blood test: Yes
Number of first beta: 2671 15 days post transfer
Number of babies: Two
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: Never give up hope and believe. Also, I think I would have liked to have been in better physical shape before becoming pregnant and shed a bit of excess weight. Now that I'm supposed to gain up to 60 pounds with twins, I'm wishing I had prepared my body a bit better with exercise/toning. Have some good friends to support you and get your through.

We have been trying since 2006
. 1st IVF with ICSI in September/October 09.
. 8-week ultrasound Nov 26, 2009- It's twins!

Age: 36 at the time
How long TTC: 2.5 years
Diagnosis or any known issues: Unexplained infertility
Treatments you tried before IVF: Laparoscopy, 6 cycles of Clomid, Clomid & IUI, 1 cycle of Superovulation - then changed clinics and went straight to IVF

Are you using donor eggs or sperm: No

How many follicles at ER:
How many eggs retrieved: 7

Symptoms or issues during 2WW: Constipation, cramping (must be from constipation), breast twinges
What day you got your BFP: Day 14
HPT before blood test: No way - wouldn't do it! Funny that after all the negative HPTs I had gotten over the years I never did get to see a positive one because I never did one with my pregnant cycle!
Number of first beta: 412
Number of babies:2 - beautiful boy and girl twins. Now 14 months old.
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: Would not have spent so long on non-IVF treatments, especially considering my age. Should have just tried Clomid a couple of cycles then gone to IVF. It is not nearly as scary as I thought!

I filled out something similar on another website and decided just to cut and paste to post it here. Hope that is alright.

How long you TTC - went off BCP in early 2003, but didn't actively start trying til early 2005 (thought it would happen without 'trying'); sought medical advice early 2006
How old you are/were - 37 now
What your diagnosis was - was always unexplained at first two clinics until a couple months ago when new doc said I have PCOS
What cycles you tried - 4 IUI's, then IVF and 1 FET (w/ 2 embies) at first clinic; 2 clomid cycles; 1 fresh IVF then 4 FET's at new clinic (w/ 1 or 2 embies) ; then PGS fresh IVF at 3rd clinic.
How many transfers in total you have had - Total of 11 embryos in 8 transfers
What cycle type eventually gave you a BFP - (had a natural BFP and a BFP after a FET - both m/c); PGS fresh IVF
What support (pessaries/crinone) did you use and how much - used crinone 1ce/day but only til day before BETA, then nothing. Oh, and I think I had a pregnyl (hCG) shot around transfer day.
How many eggies you got per cycle -
7 eggs, 6 fert, 3 to Day 4, 1 trsfd, 2 frozen
15 eggs, 12 fert, 7 to Blast, 1 trsfd, 6 frozen
11 eggs, 8 fert, 7 PGS tested, 3 ok, 2 to blast, 1 trsfd, 1 frozen

How many blastos/frosties you got per cycle - see aboveHow many did you transfer - 1 or 2 (1 on successful cycles)
What your FSH levels were at the beginning of the cycle - 6 (but don't know what that means)
What your E2 levels got up to before trigger - 5216 (scan showed they wanted to wait to let them grow - they saw one good size follicle, and 4 coming along, but P4 b/t went up to 4 so had to trigger)
What you felt worked best for you - I would have to say a number of things. I went on metformin which is supposed to help with glucose intolerance, lower chance of OHSS, and lower risk of m/c.
Also I strongly believe the PGS (embryo genetic testing) was the way to go for us. We would have a good number of embryos, they would look great on transfer, but we weren't getting BFP's. This gives a better idea of the embryos more likely to survive which results in fewer transfers (and the emotional roller coaster that causes.) It is scary doing PGS (not sure if you will have anything to transfer) but I reckon it reduced the number of unsuccessful cycles we would have gone through.
Also, I think that having my dh take the week off work to take care of me after EPU was great. I started drinking protein shakes and actually measuring my 3L water intake. I think these things helped prevent OHSS and I felt better this cycle.
On a side note, I attribute my natural pregnancy to the acupuncture I started about a month and a half before.
Oh, and I believe in intercourse during the 2ww. Had a nurse answer my question that "There is some schools of thought that suggest seminal fluid around the cervical canal is conducive to good endometrial response."

Symptoms in the successful 2ww - I had acid reflux up to EPU, was fine for 5 days, then got it the night of transfer. When the eggs/embie is in me I have terrible AR!
Very congested/sneezy - called pregnancy rhinitis. VERY sore (.)(.) Hunger all of a sudden, gotta eat NOW! But I have had those 3 symptoms on an unsuccesful cycle too (one I got +ve HPT's and was so SURE I was pregnant).

Did you continue using any Support during your PG - no, just to day before beta
Any words of inspiration you have to share / advice on keeping the faith - This has been a long time coming for us and sometimes I feel I have become a bit cycnical and maybe not able to give advice on this. But then I look at a friend of mine who has been trying for 12 years and she is now about 29 weeks - she is my inspiration. And now I am helping a friend - she has now been diagnosed with PCOS because I explained to her what it was and suggested that maybe she should go get checked out after 6+ years of TTC. Maybe I can be someones help, if not inspiration.
Or anything else you want to add - When we first started this journey, we kept it pretty private and thought there was no need to tell everyone because it would happen soon enough. As time went on, I started joining forums and also started talking openly about it. I don't feel the topic needs to be kept hushed. That decision is a very personal one, but for us it just relieves a lot of stress. Some you tell will be supportive, others won't. Most won't understand, but some people will really surprise you.
Oh, and I love my husband! Been together over 16 years now and still enjoy being together.

These are some of the questions from this thread:

Treatments you tried before IVF: not really before, but during, I tried acupuncture, essences, pineapple core...stuff like that that I came across on the internet. I did get pregnant for the first time ever, but it didn't last. But at least then, I knew i could get pregnant.
Are you using donor eggs or sperm: no, but the lady I mentioned before trying for 12 years used donor eggs
Protocol (meds taken): I was on a really short cycle this time. I used to start a nasal spray on Day 21, but didn't this time. Just started Puregon around Day 2 or 3 and later Orgalutran (sp?) - which works like the spray - around Day 8 maybe.
Issues: I had bleeding/spotting on two occasions at around 5 1/2 weeks and 10 1/2 weeks.
What day you got your BFP: Day 11 after transfer of blasto
HPT before blood test: Yep, 4!
Number of first beta: 192!
Number of babies: one
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: That it could take so bloody long! That even once you get a BFP, you worry, worry, worry!

I have been wanting to post on this sooner, but I was still in shock that I waited until after my half way mark to finally post this....

Name: IVF GAL
Age: 30
How long TTC: 5 years
Diagnosis or any known issues: Poor sperm morphology and then later discovered I also had mild endometriosis
Treatments you tried before IVF: Clomid, Clomid with IUI, IUI with Gonal F injectibles and then finally decided on IVF
How many IVF did you do before success: Got pregnant on first ever IVF cycle! Hallelujah!
Are you using donor eggs or sperm: No
Protocol (meds taken): Menopur
How many follicles at ER: 10
How many eggs retrieved: 7
How many eggs fertilized: 5
How many days between ER and ET: 3
How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: 1 Grade A, 2 Grade B
Symptoms or issues during 2WW: Overthinking, spontaneous crying thinking it didn't work, needless worrying because I had no symptoms, did have some period like cramps on one side, BUT HAD NO SYMPTOMS and was worried that it did not work because I did not feel different. So ladies, please do not stress if you feel no symptoms -- you still may very well be pregnant! And on a side not enjoy not having any symptoms, because later on in the pregnancy when they come -- and they do come sooner or later, they are viscious :)
Additional things I read about and did to help with conception: Drank raspberry leaf tea prior to egg retrieval, did accupuncture only prior to egg retrieval, visualized and thought positive thoughts, took 1 week off after egg transfer to relax, ate pineapple with the core to help with implantation, tried to eat healthy and ate lots of fruits and vegetables.
What day you got your BFP: On beta day - which I was still in shock, as I did not feel any different. If you can help it, please don't take a test prior to beta day, you may cause yourself undue worry and disappointment as it may be too early for an HPT. The blood test will tell you everything.
HPT before blood test: No I was too scared but I did take a couple of HPT tests 1 week after because I was still in disbelief that I was actually finally pregnant.
Number of first beta: 94
Number of babies: Put in 3 embies and am pregnant with 1 perfect little baby. Currently 24 weeks pregnant.
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: The worry and stress that we carry when we are "trying" stays with you even when you get your big fat positive. I think it is because you are just so shocked that you are finally pregnant. I spent my first 3 months of pregnancy worried about this and that....having no symptoms - am I really pregnant? etc. My advice is to relax, let go, let God. Think POSITIVE thoughts. And pray, pray, pray! And Don't google every worry and symptom online - you will stress yourself out more!

Me: 30 DH: 30
TTC: Over 4 years
HISTORY:
Clomid
Gonal F injectibles + IUI
Surgeries: Hysteroscopy and Laparascopy
IVF #1 - July/August 2009

We were successful in 2007 with our 2nd IVF cycle and are starting the process again to have a second child. We have an estimated start date of June 2010.

Me - 31 DH - 34Started TTC in 20032005 Laparoscopy and told all was fine and to keep tryingMay 2007 referred to a different doctor who put me on Clomid for 2 monthsJuly 2007 - HSG - 100% blocked tubes and referred to London (SOFT) for IVFAugust 2007 - First consult at SOFT.Sept 2007 - Retest for HSG - 100% blocked tubes. Start IVF treatment (Synarel, Repronex, Bravelle)October 2007 -

IVF #1 Cancelled cycle. Not responding to meds properly, low # of follicles. Told would have to wait until 2008 to start again.November 2007 -

IVF #2 Surprised to hear we can start again. Repronex and Bravelle. Increase of Bravelle from last cycle.December 6 2007 - Egg retrieval. 10 eggs. 8 fertilized.December 9, 2007 - Transfer of our only 2 embryos left.December 22, 2007 - BFP!!! Positive Beta around 240.December 24, 2007 - Positive Beta around 480.August 28, 2008 - It's a baby boy! Right on time with a few hiccups, but all is well.March 2011 - SIS 100% tubal blockage (Not sure why he retested me)April 4 2011 -

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: Learn as much as you can. Read everyone's story or siggy until you find someone that you think has similar issues. research research..ask advice. PM people who may be able to help. This site is awesome. Advocate for yourself at your clinic. If the doctors are incredibly rude and cruel to you (my old clinic) switch clinics!! If your clinic seems disorganised, or a cluster f**k at times, that is a BAD sign. It means that they are WAY too busy to be paying close attention to your cycle! Change! I had the "founder" of a clinic tell me at one of my very first u/s of my first IVF attempted cycle(they cancelled me) that "I wouldnt waste your $ on another IVF cycle. Not with your own eggs. There's no point. You'd be throwing $$ out the window. " I was 38- and got pregnant just 4 months later (with my own, TOP NOTCH EMBRYOS)at my new clinic - one with class and understanding..

Name: Lisa
Age: 38
How long TTC: 5 years
Diagnosis or any known issues: "unexplained"/immune
Treatments you tried before IVF: Naturopath, chinese herbs, acupuncture, 4 unmedicated IUIs
How many IVF did you do before success: 3 Fresh, 5 Frozen, #4 Fresh worked
Are you using donor eggs or sperm: no
Protocol (meds taken): BCP, Puregon, Menopur and Orgalutran, IVIg, Low dose aspirin, Lovenox starting at 8 weeks
How many follicles at ER: about 12? (can't remember now)
How many eggs retrieved: 9 but one was fractured and 1 immature, so 7 to work with
How many eggs fertilized: 4
How many days between ER and ET: 5
How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: 1 excellent blast and 1 morula
Symptoms or issues during 2WW: Sore bbs, slight aches off and on in uterus (although I have had those symptoms with BFN as well), spotting
What day you got your BFP: 12dp5dt
HPT before blood test: no - I was on HCG booster shots and could have gotten a false positive so I could not test
Number of first beta: 550 (but about 50 of that may have been from the HCG boosters)
Number of babies: 1
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: Not really but these are things that I have learned in the process: For some people it can take way more than 1 try and don't be afraid to get a second opinion and do lots of research as you are your own best advocate when navigating the medical system

TTC #1: starting in Feb 2005 "unexplained" (immune issues, elevated NK cells, 2 heterozygous MTHFR and 2 heterozygous thrombophilias - Factor XIII and PAI-1 mutations)
me-42, DH-42, married since 1995!
Tried: Naturopath, Chinese herbs, Acupuncture, Homeopathy
4 un-medicated IUI's BFN
IVF # 1 18 eggs retrieved, 16 mature, 8 out of 16 fertilized (1/2 ICSI, half IVF), 5 made it to day 5 blast, transferred two, froze 3
first ever BFP m/c
FET #1 medicated, transferred two, started spotting 2 days later, full blown AF 5 days later (decided I don't react well to Estrace, will do natural frozen next time) BFN
FET #2 natural (but still with progesterone (crinone) support, transferred last blast from IVF #1 BFN
IVF #2 16 eggs retrieved, decided not to do ICSI this time since cycle #1 showed eggs could fertilize on their own, only 3 fertilized! None made it to blast for transfer no transfer! Disaster!
IVF #3 decided to add some repronex to the stims and do all ICSI. 18 eggs, 17 mature and 15 fertilized, 8 made it to day 5 blast. Transferred two blasts, froze 6 BFN
FET#3 added 3 HCG booster shots and doubled up on the crinone to prevent me from spotting early (as I often do), transferred 2 blasts, no spotting but a BFN anyway
FET #4- added ovidral just before my natural ovulation so they could pin point it more accurately with the 36 hour window, HCG shots again, plus double crinone BFN
January 2009 Consult with new RE in Markham - he finds a small septum, resected April 29, 09 - tells me to now try my last two frozen blasts
FET #5 - ET scheduled for June 15 (natural cycle with trigger, HCG booster and crinone) - BFN
On to Plan B- Switch clinic to Markham for
#4 Fresh IVF with IVIg, exploring immune testing - start BCP Sept 20. ER around week of Oct. 25
9 eggs retrieved, 1 immature, 1 fractured. 7 to work with. 4 out of 7 fertilized (Day 3: 1 8 cell grade 1, 2 8 cell grade 2 and 1 morula). Day 5 transferred 1 great blast and 1 morula (1 morula and 1 10 cell did not make it to freezing).
Beta Nov. 11 - BFP! (550) I am in shock!
Issues with spotting, Nov 20, second beta 11,000 and early ultrasound: saw gestational sac and yolk sac in the right place but concern about a cyst or possible ectopic near my ovary as well, 4 more ultrasounds over a 10 day period, last ultrasound on Dec. 2 'cyst' has not grown and baby measuring on target at 7wks, 1day with a heart beat of 153bpm.
Now taking Lovenox due to 2 heterozygous thrombophilias
Ultrasound on Dec. 18 (9 weeks, 5 days) baby on track, hb 167
Ultrasound on Dec. 22 due to extra heavy spotting, baby still measuring on track, hb 167 and dancing
Ultrasound on Jan. 8 (12 weeks, 5 days) baby on track, hb 160, baby doing crunches!
18 week anatomy scan scheduled for Feb. 16 - they lost my blood work for the second part of the IPS so no results for that today (they took blood again) but the 18 week scan went great, baby looked awesome and even gave us a little wave in between sucking her thumb and inspecting her toes. Yes, I said "her" - it's a little girl!
20 week ultrasound at Mt. Sinai and they agree, so far so good.
IPS results are in and they are excellent!
EDD: July 19, 2010
Baby girl arrived at 39 weeks, 2 days! July 14, 2010 3:12 am, weighing 7 pounds even.
May 2013 - The IVF Journey continues...one last try to see if a sibling is in the cards...
Did LIT, IVIg, Lovenox and low dose aspirin. 5 eggs retrieved, 1 immature, 1 fractured, 3 to work with, 2 fertilized with ICSI.
June 5, day 3 transfer of 2 8 cell grade 2 embryos.BFN
April 2014, one very last try - natural IVF with intralipids this time, 2! dominant follicles, 2 mature eggs retrieved, both fertilize with ICSI, day 3 transfer scheduled for April 13, transferred 1 8-cell grade one and 1 6-cell grade one (also using Lovenox and low dose ASA) -BFN, we are really done, not sure if it is now my immune system, or old eggs now too.
