My spouse has a BHCG level of 153.89 (iu/L) and she ovulated on Nov 14th, plus or minus 1 day.

We were warned of a possible miscarriage and she's going for another test on Dec 10.

Just curious if anybody was in a similar boat, but ended up being OK.

Have a look over on betabase.info

Youll see a wide range of numbers. The reality is that a single number says very little. Whats important is to do multiple draws about 48 hours apart to check doubling times. 48-72 hours or less is what they look for.

To check doubling times, google babymed hcg calculator.

See about me page.

going off the 14th as her ovulation date, that would make her 5 weeks pregnant from her LMP(Last Menstrual Period) since most women ovulate around 2 weeks after their LMP.

According to Babymed, normal HCG levels in early pregnancy the range is a staggering 19- 7,340.

There is a vast, vast range in normal rates and a high number does not translate into a full term healthy pregnancy more than a lower one. anything over 25 is considered pregnant, the important part(as quandry said) is that the number doubles or close to doubles every 48-72 hours.

At the start of my 5th week(which was my first beta after a FET when counting back from my first ultrasound) my level was 185. My clinic never said anything about it being a possible miscarriage.

I am now 14 weeks and 3 days and everything is going great.

For now, be excited that your spouse is pregnant and worry about a possible miscarriage if the HCG doesn't double(although even if it doesn't there is still a small chance that she is just a low riser and everything will be ok with a bit of monitoring and maybe some extra meds)

Honestly, I am a bit surprised that your clinic is worried about a miscarriage. From hearing of others experiences with a low number(which I don't consider 153 to be), I would expect them to do a test sooner than Dec 10th. Usually, they would insist on her coming back in 2 days later to get an accurate time for doubling or not doubling as the case may be. The fact that they aren't doing that implies to me that they aren't that worried about a possible miscarriage or they give everyone that talk after their first beta.

Check out the link above as it has some very interesting facts that no one really tells you in detail about HCG and what to expect.

Beta just means quantitative. So they give you a number value/level not just a yes or no.

I understand why the doctors are a bit concerned seeing as the number only doubled in 96 hours instead of 48-72 hours. Could go either way, the next number is the important one. Fingers crossed this test was just an anomaly.
