Welcome ladies,

I am so happy that you could join me in this journey.

Bridgeypie - I would not give up hope yet, not until you have the blood work done. When i was gregnant, i had to symptoms or any signs. So I would not give up and keep talking to your embies.

Sandibeach - when was your first IVF and what kind of protocol were you on. I am just interested. I had number 1st in January and had BFN ( no frostie). In April had second IVF cancelled due to overstimulation. While i was waiting for 3rd IVF in got pregnant. Now i am miscarrying and hoping to be able to start 3rd IVF in October/November. Very nerveous. That is my short story, just wondering about yours.

Yes this is my first IVF so I am very nervous! This whole journey up to now has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs. It will be so worth it in the end when we have our little babies!! I would love IVF to start in September but I am thinking with the wait list going the way it is going here in Calgary it will be more like November. I am thinking it will be November and if it is earlier that will be GREAT!!

Babyplease- i know what you meat about being nerveous. I am on my 3rd and i think i am more nerveous now then before, not sure why. I hope i can proceed in October november and it does seems like an eternity away, but i am sure b4 we know it we will be on our 2ww.

Sarah- welcome. Grad to have you on board. You are so lucky you have some frosties. I do not have any and therefore my cycle has to start the whole thing all over again. Looking forward to it. I am trying to keep a positive outlook this time around. However i know the closer you get to the timeline the more nerveous I become and it is harder for me to be optimistic. How do you deal with all of this? Are you doing accupuncture?

Thanks hopeful,

No, this is my second attempt. The first one ended up being cancelled due to poor response. I'm supposed to do the Flare this time around. In the meantime, I'm doing everything I can to get my BMI down as much as possible (currently in the 'overweight' category) so that I improve my chances of responding better.

Hi guys - I would love to join you. It's nice to have a "catergory" to be in when you realy don't fit any catergory right now.

I just completed a failed cycle (first IVF) and have no frost babies - so I am looking forward to starting another fresh cycle in the Fall (Sept or Oct) although I still have to do my follow up appnt. and see when I am actually "allowed" to try again.

I'm not overly heavy per se but I have put on about 20lbs in the past couple of months so I am hoping to loose the majority of that before I cycle again so I can
be happier about the weight that I will inevidably gain when I get PG.

Sweetredpepper - I am on the same boat as you, being on the heavy site. Since my last ivfs i gained weight and now pregnancy few more. So now i am on the misssion to lose weight before next IVF. Hoping to get in better shape and to improve our chances. Are you on any kind of diet? I will just try to eat healthier and go to gym. Hoping that will work. What is your plan of attack?

Hm, my plan of attack...
Well, I have a personal trainer who has created a fairly challenging program for me. I highly recommend getting someone to help make a program for you if you can; it has helped me a lot (when I do it :P ). I have also been doing some spinning classes, which really kick my butt. My DH is very good about encouraging me to go for walks or bike rides with him. Let me know if you'd like to try my program, I have it on email so PM me and I could send it to you.

I'm generally a health freak, so healthy eating isn't an issue for me. The key for me is to be mindful of my portions and keep exercising regularly (it tends to be the first thing to fall off my schedule). I have learned that 'dieting' never works, because I don't do well when I feel restricted.

If you're looking for a good program, there is a book called Simply Woman that is very good and includes an exercise DVD. My sister has recently lost over 40lbs on that program. You just need to buy some weights and a mat, and you can do everything at home. I more or less follow what she says, except that I don't exercise in the a.m. b/c I just don't find I get as good a workout as I do later in the day. She recommends a lot of supplements, but there are some that aren't safe in pregnancy, so I would stick to your multi and essential oils.
Let me know if you'd like to be my weight loss buddy...we can encourage and motivate each other...

Best,

SRP - i would love to to be your weight loss body. I will look into the book. Usually i am the same way as you, i can not stick to diet. So starting tomorrow i will go to gym and try to work out on regular basis. My dh is asking me all the time to go biking or rolleblading, however at the moment it is so hot and humid here, that i just can not go out. I do not handle heat very well. So let me know your workout plan and i will try to keep up with you.

Ever hopeful - i am so sorry about your failed IVF. I know it is very hard. I know that next one will work out for you and me, for all of us. After my first failed ivf, by dr told be i can start again after 2 cycles. So hang in there and before you know it you will be on your next IVF.

I think doing ivf is a good thing, since they say while you are on 2ww you should try to stay cool and not overheat (bad for implantation). And i find it hard to do during summer. I know that all of us will have BFPs this fall!!!!

Im on board with the weight loss.. I feel a big part of me not responding to the meds is part of me being in the "overweight" catagory,,, I just sliped by their BMI requirements...and I really would like to loose some weight before the next one.. I figure I have about 12 weeks @ 2lbs per week, I can loose AT LEAST 24lbs...so I must do this...

sweetredpeper, I would love to see what your trainer sent out to you if you dont mind firing it off my ways brige@hotmail.com I have used to do personal training and it's funny I am sooo lazy in developing my own plan (isn't that horrible) I have a full studio gym in my basement that I need to put to use, and I feel if I can just get a "plan" that maybe I'd use it more!!

Also, im hoping we can encourage each other in this thread:)

Im so happy that we've started this tread, it's going to be a long wait...has anyone thought of doing a natural IUI while waitting...im thinking about asking my clinic if I can do one - I dont see what the harm would be - wonder if they'll go for it?

Thanks for the welcome Hopeful4miracle :). I too get really nervous but excited everytime we get close to cycling. Staying positive can be difficult but I just remind myself that IVF is the only way I will ever get pg so it makes the whole process a little easier. I am seriously going to look into accupuncture this time. It can't hurt, right? I've only heard positive things about it.

SRP, Bridgeypie, Everhopeful, H4M - I'd like you join you with the weightloss. I too am already active , have a personal trainer and eat healthfully (except when I am super stressed :) ) but I really need to be more consistent. I try to make it to spinning class at least twice a week and love mountain biking so I am trying to get out and do it more often. Support from fellow ivfers might be just what I need !!

Bridgeyupie- i think it is a great idea to support earch other and shed those extra pounds in the process. I think for some people IUI will work. I am personally have to have for IVF because my DH has a balanced translocation, which increases our changes for m/c. From my last IVF cycle out of 11 embies i only had one healthy one, which did not take. Also i am going through m/c at the moment and for me it is too soon to think about it. But in your case i would go for IUI. It happend for you naturaly and with a little help from the clinic you may have another miracle b4 you know it.

hopeful you raise a very interesting question that nobody ever really been able to shed much like on...my dh has a "reversal" of a choromosone...they seem to just "disregard" that...is a translocation and a reversal much different - do you know?

Which chromosone is it on?..Ours is on the 9th

It looks like we are going to create our own fitness support group as well.

Sarah - i just wanted to mention about you saying that IVF is the only way for you to have kids. I know so many people where doctors told them they would never have kids and they did. One couple that i know of for example was told that she is going through early metapause at 34 and can never have kids. They did one IVF and that failed. So they decided to stop trying since the funds were not available and no hope. 6 months later she was naturally pregnant. Another couple was trying to have kids for over 10 years and they have tried everything and nothing seems to work. So they went ahead and adapted. Two years later they had a healthy baby boy. I guess what i am trying to say is that no one ever knows for sure, including doctors.

hopeful4miracle - I know for sure I can't get PG any way except IVF. I have one blocked tube and had to have the other one removed. Feels kinda crappy that I'll never have thae "surprise" but it also feels nice to know the cause. Unexplained just never sat right with me.

Bridgeypie - to tell you i am not sure, sorry. My dh has translocation between 11 and 21. Therefore we are doing ivf with ICSI and pgd. This way we are trying to increase our chances of success. I just know that my clinic is taking this matter very seriously, assuming that is the cause for my m/c, since they could not find anything else. Have you had a consulation with denetic counsellor? After we found out about my DH it took about 3 months Tthey were able to answer all of our questions and drew pictures and explained how it works in great details. Actually they are the one who refered us to our clinic since they specialise in that area. I know of genetic clinic in the states who would be able to provide phone consultaion for you in you are interested. I am not sure how much they would charge for it, ours included in pgd and they were great. Let me know if you would like their info. Sorry i could not be much of help.

Everhopeful - i think of trying to get pregnanct for as long as we all have been here, the surprise is no longer there, except for stress and disapointment. That is how i feel anyways. I do know what you mean about the "knowing the cause". That gives you hope and plan of action instead of sitting and not knowing what you are waiting for. We are so blessed to be born this day and age with all this technoloty and advanced medicine available to us.

H4M - Thanks for sharing. It is awesome to hear great success stories ! I have bilateral tubal blockage so I don't think I will ever get that surprise although I have to admit I still dream about it :P

We should do a weightloss goal chart so we can keep track of everyone's progress.

Everhopful - I too never liked the 'unexplained' category. It drove me nuts for the short time I was categorized as unexplained! I needed an explaination for my sanity :).
