Has anyone done IVF anywhere else but Ottawa recently and found a way to be monitored in Ottawa? My GP said she'd take care of the blood work, but I know I'll need ultrasounds too. Just looking for any recommendations, as it will be hard for me to be away from work for three or so weeks at a time? I am pretty set on not doing this in Ottawa, so if anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate the advice. Thanks! :)

Hi Melissa,

I am in Ottawa and traveled for IVF....I however didn't do remote monitoring but I have a friend who did and she went to Woman's ultrasound clinic, there are two locations.  Google them for details and see if maybe they can help you.  You'd have to work it out with your RE I assume to either send the ultrasound requisitions there or bring them in yourself when you are going for ultrasounds.

Thanks so much! I'll give that a try! do you know if OHIP covers that when you are doing it as remote monitoring?

Hi Melissa,

I was so bummed when OFC cancelled their remote monitoring program. I managed to use LifeLabs (located in Centrepointe) and Womens Ultrasound Clinic occasionally, but not for an actual retrieval cycle. I used them for a frozen embryo transfer cycle where the stakes were lower in terms of the fact they only needed to measure uterine thickness and not follicle sizes. Ultimately, I travelled to my clinic in Toronto A LOT for the more important ultrasounds. Good luck! I hope you find a way to make it work.

Yeah! I was disappointed too! What were the costs involved with your monitoring?
