Sorry if this has already been asked here... Just wondering if anyone knows what the current average wait times are for funded IVF at Ottawa Fertility Centre?

IVF consent confirmation email said 12-14 month wait but the doctor told us back in January 2018 that it was 6-7 month wait. I know a friend who got called fall 2017 and she was on the list 6 months. We're at month 11.

It also says "you will be contacted approx 3 months prior to treatment" so I assume that means 3 months on top of the 12-14 months?

Thank you :-)

I was put on their waitlist in November 2017 and they called me in May 2018 to start the initial prep tests.

I however declined since I had already used my funded cycle during that wait as I was on a list at another clinic, so I am not sure how long it would have been until the cycle started.

I was put on the wait list at OFC on November 15 2017 and I got called for my prep tests June 11 2018. I just signed consent paper work. I’ll likely start my funded cycle in August sometime

Thank you both very much, this is very helpful. It seems weird that we've been waiting this long then... I may call them.

Thanks again!

This scares me. I was just diagnosed with a dilated fallopian tube, and 11 polyps on my uterus that have to be removed.  My clinics Ottawa too, and obviously I need surgery. I am turning 31 soon. So I realize I am not old and I am lucky that way.  It's still terrifying to know that I'll have to spend all that time waiting.  Do you know how the wait list works? Do they call you based on when you get on the list? Or do other factors come into play too?

I just turned 30 as well. I recall them telling us the wait list is based on when you get on the list, as everyone may have different factors but it needs to be fairly treated for funded wait times. To be honest the 7 months I waited flew by. If your able to and not wanting to wait for funded, you can start a paid cycle right away. Hope this helps.

Im interested if people are still getting calls for Ohip funded cycles in 2018? Ive been on 2 waiting lists since March 2017 and when I call for updates they say all their dates have been filled and theyre waiting to hear about additional funding in the new budget. Im so worried the new government will cut the OHIP funded cycles before I get off the darn waitlist.

Melissa, I haven’t started my first cycle yet, it will likely be the 2nd week of August. I just signed consent papers July 4 at the Kingston office. Once that’s done they fax to Ottawa and they call you within 4 weeks. I live a hour from Kingston and about 2.5 from Ottawa. So if you go right to the Ottawa clinic it may be faster? I’m not quite sure.

Jenny- sorry to hear you’ve been waiting such a long time, I think every clinic has different wait times. I originally was told at least a year or longer and then got a within 7 months.

Im right in Ottawa so thanks hopefully that will help! I have my follow up appointment with one of the doctors there tomorrow where Im hoping to get in their ivf wait list, even though I know Im waiting for surgery. Did you get in the waitlist at any other clinics? Or did you just wait for Ottawa?

I just waited for Ottawa, only other option was Toronto. I like Ottawa much better, easier to get around lol
