So finally spoke to my RE today (Greenblatt) and she was awesome as always.

first words to dh..."so you had a pretty horrible cycle eh?" LMAO

So apparently out of the 8 eggs, only 2 were 'mature' and they did actually fertilize...but even they might not have been totally ripe yet.

I was a very poor responder, and I bet if I wasn't a tubal case they would have converted to iui.

So from what she said, basically the cycle was doomed from the start.

Next round will be the antagonist protocol.

Starting next CD1. For an ER in September.

Off we go again.

Oh, and one bright spot, apparently none of my eggs showed the usual markers for OLD eggs...so maybe I have a chance yet...

*fingers crossed*

And they are making plans for pain management for me as we speak. I appreciate that.

Tonight I am going to have a few beers, watch the UFC I missed on the weekend, and then back to clean living and exercise.....

That sounds like great news to me...........
I've read about plenty of "poor responders" that just needed to get on the right protocol.
I'm sure the fall cycle will be much more smooth and productive and hey, that's just around the corner. Believe me, we aren't having any summer weather here, so fall must be around the corner. Time will fly by and in no time, you'll be having your young eggs retrieved again.....and lots of them to boot!!! Glad you seem to be feeling better.and hey, enjoy a beer for me too!

Hi,

I'm really glad you got some answers. Sometimes the first IVF is a best of a test to see how you'll respond to the meds. It really does seem to be a crap shoot. I've seen every type of response to these meds under the sun on this board.

The antogonist protocol is a good one for poor responders. You won't be over suppressed.

With my first IVF I got a lot of eggs, but so many were immature, I really thought my eggs were done for. Turns out the protocol was more to blame for that.

IVF #1 July 2007, 32 eggs retrieved (many immature), 12 fertilzed, 9 made it to day 3, transferred 3 embbies, BFN

Fell down the stairs Aug 4, 2010, fractured C7, T1, T3 and 4 ribs (neck and upper spine). Still healing and hoping bones fuse on their own.

I feel like i can see some light at the end of this nasty dark tunnel.

But I guess only time will tell if it helps.....for now I will tell myself it will!!

My first IVF got cancelled right before the ER, due to poor response. I only produced 3 follicles! That time they even spoke to me about donor eggs...
So I convinced them to go to the extreme and give me the highest dosage possible of everything. I then produced 19 eggs, out of which 13 fertilized with ICSI.

Don't loose hope, just fight. With your positive attitude, you'll get there!

Hi Hopeful - again I just wanted to say that I'm glad you got better news than expected. I've heard on a lot of boards that sometimes the first cycle is trial and error - especially if you aren't a "typical" responder. It sounds like they will be able to find a protocol to work for you. And the news about your eggs is the best - just wait - I'll bet money on a bfp being right around the corner for you. In the meantime - enjoy that beer!

So - my question to you - is when do you start meds again to fo ER in September... my clinic makes us wait 3 months I believe before starting again, if this doesn't work I wish I could just jump into it again...lucky you
