Join our team as a peer supporter!
Welcome to Infotility! We are a group of researchers, clinicians, and community partners, headed by Dr. Phyllis Zelkowitz at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, Quebec.
What is our research about?
Our research, which is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, aims to promote reproductive health in men and women are seeking fertility treatment.
The goal of our research program is to create a mobile app that offers information and support for both men and women, undergoing infertility treatment. This app contains a peer support component to provide fertility patients contact with others who have been through it.
What is the role of a peer?
We are recruiting peer supporters, who are all people that have undergone fertility treatment. The role of the peer supporter will be to answer messages on a chat function of the app, using your own experience as a fertility patient to answer questions and provide support. These supporters will respond to research participants, who are fertility patients who have agreed to try our app and may be using the chat function, at different times during the day. We will offer online training sessions to provide some guidelines about online interactions peer supporters might have with the users.
We hope that supporters will be able to offer 4 hours of uninterrupted time per week of their choosing, to monitor the chat. Peer supporters would engage in a “chat” if someone begins a conversation, during that chosen time. The total duration of the study will be approximately 26 weeks.
