I wish I still had my Doppler. I sold it after my twins were born. My sister in law has one that is her sister in laws (other side)...maybe theyll let me borrow it for a while?
As for telling people...all of our family and close friends already know. Our 8 year old daughter passed away 4 days before transfer day and although we were keeping it a secret up until then, it was just too stressful not to tell everyone at that point...so of course 2 weeks later everyone wanted to know the outcome. We arent telling anyone else and not announcing anything on facebook or anything else probably ever. We are very private people, and I really like to keep things personal if that makes any sense. People will find out when they see me all fat or when Im carrying around a baby after the fact.
ET Aug 2014 - 19 retreived, 6 made to 5 day blasts - sent to PGD Lab (freeze all)...4 blasts good to go!
November 2014 - 1st FET cycle...cancelled due to bad uterine lining
December 2014 - 2nd FET cycle....cancelled due to bad uterine lining
February 2015 - 3rd FET cycle...uterine lining got to 0.8mm...transferred 2 blasts...BFN
June 2015 - 4th FET cycle (only 1 blast left to transfer...one didn't make it through thaw).....we'll see...nope BFN
Oct 2015 - 31 retrieved, 8 made to 5 day blasts - sent to PGD Lab (freeze all)....6 blasts good to go!
Jan 2016 - 5th FET cycle...lining got to 6.5mm, not great, but Dr seemed confident...transferred 2 blasts...just waiting...finished waiting

Jody, Im sorry to hear about your daughter. Such a tough thing to happen. Im glad you have close friends and family for support.
That was another reason why we didnt tell anyone this time, people wanting to know the outcome. We told people on both our rounds of IVF and my husband had a really hard time with his mom calling him on the day we got our results to ask if it had worked. My family also sent flowers which was a sweet gesture but it was a bitter reminder that it hadnt worked every time we looked at them. We had a hard time dealing with their disappointment on top of our own. Since the donor embryo thing was such an unknown we decided to keep it to ourselves until we had good news to share instead of bad!
Im like you, Im not sure Ill do an announcement. My close friends or anyone really important will know because Ill tell them or theyll see the babies, but FB may never know lol

I had an appointment at the perinatal clinic today to discuss CVS testing 😒. We had PGD done on the embryo, but because of mine and my husbands genetic background we think its necessary to do additional testing. This embryo carries my husbands bad gene but my good one with the disorder we both carry, and we know that because of the PGD...we just need to be sure that the PDG was right unfortunately. The genetic Counsellor is going to book us in for the CVS test at 11 weeks and at that point we will be able to discuss the risks of doing the CVS with an SCH...the risk is higher, but without knowing the exact placement and size of it they couldnt answer how much higher. So when we go for the CVS they will do an ultrasound first to determine that, and then we have the option to back out and get an amnio at 16 weeks instead (which I really dont want because if it comes back at 20 weeks that this baby is carrying both genetic mutations the decision of what to do about it will be that much harder) why cant pregnancy just be easy and not stressful?!? My sister in law is 22 weeks pregnant right now and I could just pull my hair out every time she complains about random normal pregnancy stuff...but I bite my tongue because I know not everyone struggles...the real problem is she knows we do and she still complains about random normal things! She had an NT scan done at 12 weeks (which is 100% fine and normal), but she admitted to me that the only reason she did it was to have an extra ultrasound so she could see her baby! She didnt even want the results And I dont even think she went for the blood work that goes along with that ultrasound...what a waste of resources and time. Anyways rant over...I didnt have a great day.

I just had this conversation with a friend yesterday, about how stressful pregnancy is for anyone who underwent ART for whatever reason. You think just getting pregnant will make things better but weve been immersed in the hard pregnancies and struggles for so long its tough not to worry.
I know I had two strong heartbeats and babies measuring right on target but I keep worrying something happened to one of them and cant wait to see them next week. I think I was fine until the Dr said when I saw him last week that the chances of miscarrying are higher until 10 weeks. Thanks for that 🙄
My fingers are crossed for you!

I cant wait until Wednesday for my next Dr apt and presumably ultrasound. I feel like after that Ill relax a bit knowing theyre both safe and sound.
Other than that, nausea continues so I have to constantly eat to prevent it. Im a stomach or side sleeper but in the last week Ive been finding myself being woken by my husband as Ive turned on my back and started snoring. Im not normally a snorer. Had to figure out how to prevent myself from turning on my back. A giant plastic hair clip worked last night so looks like thatll be part of the bedtime routine from now on! Between that and the waking up multiple times in the night to pee, nighttime isnt as relaxing any more.
Hope everyone else is doing well

Ive been very uncomfortable this past week. My pelvic area has been super achy. I get lower back pain and occasional pain/pressure on my bowels... Im wondering if its due to my retroverted uterus...??
I also keep getting shooting pains on and off on the sides of my uterus/pelvis. Im wondering if round ligament pain, but seems a little early???
Still no OBGYN for me, the one I wanted is fully booked for September 😭 so sent in a referral to another, hoping to hear soon. Really just wanna know that babe is progressing well at this point.
Helen, my nausea gets really bad the minute I feel hungry so yes, its best to keep eating to keep it minimal. Smells are really getting to me now too. Its really crazy to me how much I am feeling, I honestly thought nothing much happened in the first trimester.... hahaha I was clearly naive!
Anyone else experience anything new or aches and pains etc?

I have PCOS and my husbands count is extremely low, so IVF was our only option! In the beginning I had little bleeding but a lot of cramps and I have ongoing nausea which is horrible! There are days that I cannot function without taking Meds for it. As for the progesteron and estrídial Meds, I was told to take it until my first trimester is done and not the 10 weeks some of you ladies have been told. Im currently Im Brasil (maybe they do it differently here) but plan to go back to Canada, Toronto, which is were Im from shortly after their birth. Here I have been doing an ultrasound every week since 4 week mark, except 7 and 8 I wont do ultra... only at 9 again. Once my first trimester is done I will need to find myself an OB. Where is everyone else from here?
Ps: sorry for long post... read the whole thread and trying to answer as much as possible here haha

Welcome StephaniElise!
Im also having twins! Pretty crazy isnt it?! Thats a lot of ultrasounds. Did they say why? I had my ultrasound at 6 weeks to check what had implanted and then I think another one this Wednesday st just over 10 weeks. After that he said not another one til 20 weeks. As you say, I guess they do things differently depending on where you are who the Dr preference.
AFM, I have to say its really liberating to not have to worry about panty liners and progesterone goop anymore!
Feeling crampy this evening and really bloated.

Another set of twins! Thats so exciting for you. And Im kinda jealous about all of your ultrasounds, I would love to have that confirmation that everything is going well. I guess with all we have been through to get here it all still seems surreal, and I cant help but think its not gonna happen. Would love to get passed that mindset.
Thanks Helen, I wish I had known to contact an OBGYN right away to get on a list... guess I know for next time. * She says optimistically *
Its weird cuz Ive noticed my nausea get really bad the last couple days but only for brief moments, as soon as I eat a cracker and drink water it seems to pass thankfully. Really hoping all these feelings start to subside over the next few weeks.
Helen, I have had some tummy cramps and bloating a bit since stopping my meds too, wonder if its just the bodies way of adjusting off them.
Anyways, happy Monday everyone.

After staying up all night with bad pelvic, hip and back pain I called my family doctor (still waiting for OBGYN) however my doctor was booked up till after the March break.... they told me to go to the ER. After 5 long hours or more in the ER my baby is doing well. Measured 10weeks 4days exactly which is perfectly on track. Heartbeat was 168bpm. He advised me to take Tylenol for the pain for now as everything seemed to check out fine, but said if the pain persists or worsens over the next few days he wants to do more tests. Chalked it up to possible normal pregnancy symptoms.... 🙄 so Im a big baby. Had my appendix rupture and lived with that pain for 4 days...but apparently pregnancy is a lot for me. Lol. Oh well its good to have peace of mind that the baby is doing well!

I just had my 10 week checkup and dr saw the babies on his nifty hand held ultrasound. Both heartbeats still so he said at this point he considers them both viable. I cried with relief when he left the room. Ive been stressing myself out lately that something was going to happen to one of them.
There they were though, one quiet and the other one dancing round.
He said he considers it safe to tell people now, so Ive told a few close friends. Well tell my family when we visit at the end of the month.

I have my CVS scheduled for Wednesday. Im not looking forward to it, and still dont know if Ill go through with it. Depends on the size and location of the SCH that day I guess. I was supposed to have an ultrasound tomorrow to check the SCH again, but I moved it to the Monday following my CVS test so I can have some reassurance after thats done that things are ok. Im excited to get the test results back...they do a gender test as part of it! They said I should have preliminary results a few days after the test is done, but the information that I really want (in regards to our known genetic abnormalities) wont be back for 3-4 weeks...which is basically why we opted for CVS instead of Amnio.
Sheather - as far as I know you are talking about the harmony test. From what I understand its a simple blood test that checks for Down syndrome and a few other disorders that are fatal to baby. It also tells you the gender, but from what my dr told me it costs around $800 and is not covered by provincial health insurance...he didnt know if it was covered by private insurance or not. I didnt ask him to look into it as I was having the CVS which tests for everything anyways.

Hello everyone. Just over 14 weeks here.
Sheather, we did NIPT (non-invasive prenatal test). The brand we took was harmony and it tests for down syndrome, etc as well as the gender. It cost us $600 but is covered by OHIP if you are over 40 or if the NT test comes back high risk. We had blood drawn at 11 weeks and got the results back by 12 weeks before the NT test. There are other brands as well. The other big one is panorama and you can get blood drawn by Lifelabs. That one costs $550 according to their website.
The NT test they ran for us in Ontario was eFTS. They do an ultrasound scan as well as one blood test. That takes about 1-2 weeks. There are others that take 2 blood tests but it takes much longer and I believe it is being phased out in Ontario.
Jodycser, good luck with your CVS!

Cant believe I will be 11 weeks tomorrow!
I finally got my OBGYN!! Go see her April 13th when Ill be 16 weeks, seems so far but I know time will fly.
My pain has gotten a lot better today, very minimal. I think the pillow top my hubby got me made a huge difference!
I have also scheduled a massage for next week.
Good luck with your test Jody and hope everything looks great in your upcoming ultrasound!! 🤞🏻
Keepgoingforever, did you find out the gender?

Morning sickness subsiding?
Mine seems to be getting better, I no longer have to eat the moment I get up, or every two hours. In fact a couple days ago I realized I had missed lunch and hadnt eaten since breakfast and had no nausea. Still get it sometimes but definitely not as bad.
Newest thing over the last couple days is heartburn. Im hoping its just what I ate for dinner (chili) but well see!
Jody, I hope your CVS went well.
Sheather, Im glad you got your OBGYN, thats a relief!

Helen, I suffer from GERD so Ive had heartburn all along. Just started to take Pepcid for it as I was told it was safe. Its been unbearable and made my nausea so much worse at times. It is brought on by nearly anything I eat😞
Ive been getting hip and side pain, like up in my ribs, the past two days. Other than that no changes for me. Maybe more mood swings than before, Im wondering if thats from stopping the meds?

Ive been crampy the last couple days too.
Im hopefully going to be telling my boss next week when I see her which will be a relief because then I can tell the rest of my team. Its getting old just telling my coworkers yeah I still cant move heavy things without giving them a reason.
Ive been craving fresh fruits and veggies the last bit too which Im totally ok with as far as pregnancy cravings go!

Im sure telling your boss and team will be a huge relief and will make all of this seem so real. When I told my siblings I got so emotional cuz it suddenly wasnt a secret, it was a real thing lol.
Grapes, I have been craving grapes like mad, lol. I even bought over priced grapes, $3.99/lb came to almost $9 for a bag of grapes...but it was so worth it haha!

Im all for these cravings though, nice and healthy!
Weirdest thing happened last night. I woke up at 3 with a very full bladder which is totally normal lately (2-3 times a night to pee since week 6). I couldnt pee though! I could do a little at a time but could not just let it all go. Really uncomfortable. I googled, because thats what you do 🙄 and read that sometimes your uterus can press on your bladder or ureter and prevent you from being able to go. Some women had to go to the ER to get drained! Definitely something Im going to keep an eye on because I dont want to get there!
