Hello..I am not a patient of ISIS, however my retrieval and transfer is done there. I go to SOFT in London, and our Dr uses the ISIS lab for the retrieval and transfer. It is our Dr from London that does our procedure, however the staff (nurses) that we have meet there seem very nice/helpful.
We have had 2 IVF procedures (both unsuccessful) done at ISIS and hopefully will be starting a 3rd by the end of summer (or sooner depending on funds).
me: 32 (slightly elevated FSH)
dh: 36 (male factor)
TTC: 8+years
IUI :8 all unsuccessful
1st IVF : June 2007 BFN
2nd IVF with ICSI: Sept 2007 8 embryos retrieved, 7 fertilized, 2 transferred, none to freeze, BFN

I have been a patient at both Oakview and ISIS. Are you happy with how things are going there?

Hi Fetch,

I go to ISIS, our RE is Dr. Elford and my DH's urologist is Dr. Fischer - we like both of them very much.
I'm on my second IVF cycle now with my beta schduled for tomorrow. I'm spotting now so I'm sadly anticipating a BFN. My first cycle resulted in a chemical pregnancy so no luck there either.

ISIS is very convenient for us and I find them pretty fast although not always very warm depending on who you're dealing with. Kim is my cycle nurse and she's been really good to us.

What do you think of it?

All the best,
ro

Hi ladies,

My RE is also Elford and DH's Eurologist is Fischer.
I like my RE, but she's rarely there. I think twice out of the year I've been cycling there did I luck out and have her discuss my daily u/s results to me.
I've gone to Oakview just to do surgery related stuff.

Elford performed an HSG, Laparoscopy, Hysteroscopy and D&C on me.
I'm going in for a Pelviscopy in August to remove adhesions from both ovaries, tubes and uterus, so my cycling has halted for a while.
Before that I was doing IUI. Now we'll move on to IVF next since my fertility has gone down hill since starting there.

Funny how I started out there pretty fertile and ended up becoming infertile due to fertility drugs and cysts causing adhesions, that or my chemical last summer. I just wish this kind of information was made more readily available because I had no idea I had any problem and probably spend $10k+ over the year on about 11 IUI's and meds, which were doomed for disaster. My HSG was clear, which is also frustrating. Only my lap showed my problems. I opted to do that surgery and boy am I glad, otherwise, I would have never known something was wrong.

Before all this I went to LifeQuest in Toronto and had excellent results, (baby #1). Problem is LifeQuest is too far for me now.

I wish everyone the best luck who's cycling right now! I can't wait until I can start up again.
It's like I feel lost and like I'm wasting precious time when I'm not cycling. sheesh.

Hi All,
I've been going to ISIS for about 1 1/2 years now. I started last February 07. Before that I was doing clomid and self testing through my doc in Florida (not a good way to go).
Dr. Cheng is my RE and he has been fantastic. Since going, I feel like I've seen almost every Dr. there. Almost all of them have been very personable and pleasant. My IVF co-ordinator is Kim and she has been wonderful in explaining everything to me. She is patient, kind, and intelligent. And from my limited experience, Lisa has been great too.
Being that I work for Dr's myself, I keep it in my mind that being in the medical field some people may get the "here she comes again" mentality and I try to break them of thinking that about me by being overly friendly. This has always served me well as I rarely run into people who aren't changed by a smile.
That being said, I've found the nurses, support staff, and sonographers to rather nice. They know me by my name and remember my appointments when I come in.
I hope this helps with getting to know them there. They really are trying to serve us as best they can.

Dr. Cheng is also my doctor. I have been going to ISIS since December 2007. For the most part, I have had good experiences. Sometimes get a bit of conflicting information, which can be frustrating, and at my persistance, all my reults have to be shown to my doctor before they call me with them. I had repeated cycles cancelled due to high estrogen levels, they were telling me I had estrogen producing cysts. My cycle before this one I asked the doctor if the u/s shows if it is a cyst or could it actually be a follicle. He said there was no way to know other than the day of my cycle I told them I was on. Previous to that AF was 2 weeks late so I suspected I was actually mid cycle and they weren't cysts showing, and I WAS RIGHT. I ended up having 2 eggs release a week later.

My most frustrating part of dealing with ISIS is that once they get a strange result, they just cancel my cycle and I don't go back until I'm on day 3 again. It frustrates me that there is no further investigation to see what is happeneing to my body and that I'm just sent away and told to come back on day 3.

That being said... we finally had a cyst free/normal estrogen level cycle and I took 150mg Serophene, had HCG shot on Wednesday and b2b iui's last Thursday and Friday. 9 days to go!
Me (Kerri-Lyn) 41, DH (Steve) 37, TTC since April 2007Unexplained IF (possibly crappy eggs, AMH 10.4 = poor responder) - HSG, SHGx3, Lap, Cycle Monitoring, Recurrent loss bloods, EMB, Karyotyping, DNA Frag - all normal! 7 IUI's, 2 cancelled IVF's, 3 complete IVF's, 1 FET, 2 clinics, 1 early miscarriage, lots of debt, lots of heartache, lots of tears. We rolled the dice and got lucky on our last ditch "close the door" cycle and have a beautiful little girl. April 2014 - Had the crazy notion to try for another. Shocked with a BFP, miscarried @ 8W6D. See my "about me" page for more cycle details.

Hi There,

My doctor started off with a full investigation first. Both DH and I had blood work done and the doc had me call in on the first day of my next period to schedule a Day #3 appointment for an investigative cycle. They also had us produce a semen sample for anlysis.

Investigative cycle to see when & if I ovulate etc:
Day 3 Bloodwork & ultrasound
Day 10 Bloodwork & ultrasound
Day 11 Bloodwork & ultrasound
Day 12 Bloodwork & ultrasound etc until I ovulate

Everything seemed normal based on the investigative cycle. With no explanation further tests were ordered.

1) HSG performed to see tubes & uterus. This is where the inject a dye through your cervix and take an xray to see if it flows through the tubes properly. Mine was inconclusive. At the time unknown why, possible polyps in my uterus.

2) Saline Sonohysterogram. This is where they inject saline in the uterus to see if there are polyps. Mine was inconclusive.

3) Laparoscopic Surgery. Found to be no abnormalities in my uterus or tubes.

Hope this helps. Not everyone will have to undergo all of these tests, depending on what your doctor sees after the investigative cycle.

I'm at ISIS also. Dr. Goodrow is my RE. I had 1 unsuccessful IVF this summer and we will do a second one. I'm also going to get a second opinion from another clinic. At my age, every month matters. And since I haven't been successful, of course I'm always wondering if there are other things I could be doing.
Me: 42 DH: 39
3 cycles with Serophene only
3 failed IUI attempts (with Serophene)
1 chemical pregnancy in June '08 (natural conception)
IVF/ICSI #1 July/ Aug 2008. Two 3-day grade 1 embies transferred. BFN
3 IUI's on natural cycles while waiting for next round of IVF
IVF #2 - January 2009. Two 3-day Grade 1 embies transferred (one 8 cell; one 9 cell). BFN

For those who did IVF at ISIS, does it work the same as IUI? Meaning, the RE to do your retrieval is whomever is on call that day or do you actually get your RE?

I've now had 8 months of failed IUI's, 2 surgeries this summer and now hoping to do my first, (and hopefully only), IVF.

Any information on the IVF process once it's time to trigger would be great.
