Canadian MD's Consider Weight Standards

In Toronto for the annual general meeting of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society, industry professionals will table discussion on possible weight restrictions for IVF services.

MD's have expressed concern that excess weight is potentially dangerous for the patient and the resulting fetus. Some clinics already have strict limits, such as a BMI of 30 or 35. Patients above those thresholds must lose weight prior to treatment services. Some look at each case individually. The discussion will potentially result in an industry standard that all professionals will use.
